Mets | Deal for Carlos Gomez fall through

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 20:09:41 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez is staying put, as the previously agreed upon deal for 2B Wilmer Flores and SP Zack Wheeler has fallen through. General manager Sandy Alderson said Wednesday, July 29, "there is no trade" for Gomez and that a deal "will not transpire."

Fantasy Tip: So much for that. Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is still a risky FantasyScore play in the coming days, as he is clearly on the trade block and could be dealt. He could be late scratch or early removal from a game, costing Fantasy Score players.

Mets | Carlos Gomez acquired from MIL

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:36:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, the New York Mets have acquired OF Carlos Gomez from the Milwaukee Brewers, in exchange for SP Zack Wheeler and SS Wilmer Flores.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) returns to the Big Apple for his second tour of duty with the Mets. He is likely to serve as the regular left fielder while Michael Cuddyer ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is on the DL and could move over to center field when he returns to action. Wheeler, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, was expendable due to the team's excess of quality starting pitching. Ruben Tejada ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) or Juan Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) could see regular playing time at shortstop due to Flores' departure, with Uribe being the slightly better FantasyScore option.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez traded to NYM

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:28:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Milwaukee Brewers have acquired SP Zack Wheeler and SS Wilmer Flores from the New York Mets, in exchange for OF Carlos Gomez, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Wheeler is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and is not expected to resume pitching at the major league level until after the 2016 All-Star break. Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is batting .249 with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs in 92 games this season. He could slide over to second base or third base due to the presence of SS Jean Segura ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) at shortstop.

Indians | CLE interested in Carlos Gomez

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 17:28:31 -0700

The Cleveland Indians appear to have strong interest in trading for Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez.

Fantasy Tip: Unlike several of the other teams that have expressed interest in Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap), the Indians are not in playoff contention, so a potential acquisition would be made with next season in mind. Gomez is in the third year of a four-year deal worth $28.3 million. Entering play Wednesday, July 29, he was hitting .266 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs through 73 games.

Mets | Carlos Gomez No. 1 target for Mets

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 16:51:21 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez is of serious trade interest to the New York Mets who are currently pushing hard for the center fielder, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has game-changing upside in both the real and fake game, and despite his down 2015 season, he should be viewed as a high-end outfielder in all formats. There are plenty of rumors flying around right now, though, so don't make any hasty fantasy decisions before there are official confirmations. For the year, Gomez has 42 runs, eight home runs, 43 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .266/.332/.429 slash line over 73 games.

Mets | NY wants to add another bat

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:17:58 -0700

The New York Mets want to add another big bat at the trading deadline, and they have their sights set on San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton, Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez, Milwaukee Brewers OFs Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra and Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce. The Padres and Mets didn't agree on a prospect package for Upton, but the talks could be rekindled. Gonzalez's price tag would be high, as he is heating up this summer. The Reds are showing interest in SP Zack Wheeler in exchange for Bruce. Reds OF Marlon Byrd could be a fallback option for the Mets.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets surely could use a boost on the offensive side, and any of these bats would do just fine. A move to New York for any of these names is unlikely to drastically affect their fantasy value, although some of those names would be leaving fine hitting environments.

Mets | N.Y. looking at Gerardo Parra

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 15:42:20 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Gerardo Parra, and possibly OF Carlos Gomez, are drawing interest from the New York Mets.

Fantasy Tip: A trade to the Mets would likely ensure Parra ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) everyday playing time for the rest of the season. Taking him away from Miller Park could hurt, but Parra has performed even better on the road (.329/.378/.500 with five of his nine home runs) this year. Khris Davis would benefit the most with regular playing time in Milwaukee if Parra or Gomez are dealt.

Brewers | Ryan Braun sitting out

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 07:57:59 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 22, with OF Carlos Gomez sliding into the three-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has a tough matchup against Cody Anderson and his 0.89 ERA. He's still a great play on FantasyScore today.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez reaches four times

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 20:56:07 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez went 1-for-1 with a run, a RBI and three walks during the Brewers' 8-1 win over the Cleveland Indians Tuesday, July 21.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has been receiving more free passes of late and now has eight over his past four games. While it isn't the impact fantasy owners are looking for, FantasyScore players can take the points and run. Still, Gomez hasn't been his dominant self this season. Be selective with when you utilize him in daily contests until he heats up.
