Brewers | Carlos Gomez making progress

Sat, 25 Apr 2015 05:48:30 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) was able to hit on the field and run on a treadmill Friday, April 24. Manager Ron Roenicke said he hopes Gomez will be able to return a little after the 15 days on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez appears to be making good progress but probably will have to play in a few rehab games before returning. Gerardo Parra ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has been in the starting lineup while Gomez is sidelined but is not a great option on FantasyScore since he has only one hit in his last six games.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez feeling better

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 13:52:37 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) said his hamstring feels better. He was able to hit and throw Monday, April 20, and he is currently taking his recovery day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash Gomez in all formats and check back for updates. Gerardo Parra ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is filling in for Gomez, but hasn't caught any traction with his bat. He has gone 3-for-14 over his past four starts with a .267 OBP. Still, at his cap hit, Parra has upside for FantasyScore contests.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez return timeline

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 15:21:05 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) is expected to miss two to three weeks, according to manager Ron Roenicke.

Fantasy Tip: It is still an early, but fantasy owners should prepare to be without Gomez for the foreseeable future. In his absence, Gerardo Parra ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) receives a huge value boost, and he is capable of helping in the majority of formats. Parra is a great low-priced target for FantasyScore players at his current price point.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez to DL

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 07:43:26 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, April 17. The move is retroactive to April 16. OF Jason Rogers was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Fantasy Tip: Place Gomez on your disabled list in traditional leagues. Gerardo Parra ($1,900, 3.8% of your cap) could be a matchup play on FantasyScore in his absence. Rogers has little fantasy appeal.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez heading to DL

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 15:40:56 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) will go on the disabled list after suffering from a small tear in his hamstring. He received a cortisone shot.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear exactly what type of tear Gomez is dealing with, so check back for more updates on his condition. Gomez has been known as a bit of a slow healer, so don't be surprised if he's out for more than two weeks. Gerardo Parra ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) becomes the beneficiary of more playing time as a result, and he should be added in all NL-only leagues and some deep mixed formats if you're in need. He's not a bad FantasyScore option against right-handed pitchers for a low price. Logan Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) could see occasional starts, too.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez to be evaluated

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 08:46:15 -0700

Updating previous reports, Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (hamstring) is headed back to Milwaukee Thursday, April 16, to be evaluated. His availability for the weekend series in Pittsburgh is unknown, but he hopes to avoid the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez said he's sorer today, which is normal with hamstring injuries. The soreness is lower down his leg near the back of his knee. Gerardo Parra ($1,900, 3.8% of your cap) will man center field in the interim. He's a very good defender, but his offense leaves a bit to be desired. He could be worth a matchup play on FantasyScore the next couple of days.

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 20:31:12 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (leg) left the game Wednesday, April 15, against the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth inning due to an apparent leg injury. He was limping while running the bases.

Fantasy Tip: Itís uncertain if he will be forced to miss time but FantasyScore owners would be wise to avoid Gomez ($6,100; 12.2% of cap) Thursday for a quick turnaround on getaway day. Perhaps Logan Schafer ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) will draw a start in the outfield Thursday afternoon.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez to hit leadoff

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 22:36:45 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez will serve as the team's leadoff hitter when the regular season begins Monday, April 6."I talked to 'Gomey' this morning, and I don't want to say this is 100 percent, but this is what I'm leaning towards and I think makes the most sense," manager Ron Roenicke said Tuesday, March 31. Gomez hit in the leadoff spot most of the season and still connected for 20 homers last season, and his on-base percentage was .365, second among Milwaukee's regulars.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez has a little more pop than your average leadoff hitter, so FantasyScore owners should not be scared off by the fact he is atop the lineup. At $6,500 (or 13.0% of cap) he is a decent value.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez says he is fine

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 15:25:39 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (shoulder, back) said he is fine after leaving the game early Monday, March 23. Gomez added he felt a twinge in his shoulder after sliding into second base, but it was not why he came out of the game.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is a rare five-category contributor worth selecting in the middle of Round 1 on draft day. Continue to check back to see if there are any linger issues with Gomez's shoulder or back. Opening the season at home against a weak Colorado Rockies pitching staff projects favorably for him in FantasyScore contests, too.
