Cowboys | Darren McFadden's injury not the same

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:54:52 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden's (hamstring) hamstring injury is not the same hamstring he injured during organized team activities. Head coach Jason Garrett said he is hopeful McFadden will be back in a week.

Fantasy Tip: It's certainly not encouraging that McFadden is having issues with both of his hamstrings already, considering the season hasn't even started and considering his extensive injury history. McFadden is being drafted as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3, but he comes with high risk.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden on PUP list

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 10:31:55 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden is expected to compete for the starting running back when he is healthy enough to practice. McFadden may not win the job but should still see solid playing time this season if he stays healthy. He could be a middle- to late-round option in leagues depending on his role.

Cowboys | Dallas still not interested in veterans

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:50:51 -0700

The Dallas Cowboys are still not interested in veteran RBs Chris Johnson and Ray Rice, following the release of RB Ryan Williams Tuesday, July 28. The Cowboys remain confident in RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar.

Fantasy Tip: While Randle and McFadden are thought to have separated themselves from Dunbar, neither one has an upper hand over the other at this point. This will be one of the most closely watched position battles all preseason.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden may open camp as No. 2 RB

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 11:08:33 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) is expected to compete for the starting running back job but will enter training camp as the No. 2 back in part because he missed some offseason workouts because of an injury.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden has struggled with injuries in his career, so it will be important for him to stay healthy during camp. He should have a solid role on offense even if he does not win the job. McFadden could be a middle-round option in deeper leagues if he does win the starting job.

Cowboys | Concerns with Darren McFadden?

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 19:54:21 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden has topped 155 carries just twice in his seven years in the league, and he has averaged less than 3.5 yards per carry in each of the last three seasons.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden's production should improve thanks to Dallas' dominant offensive line, but it remains to be seen if he can physically hold up while serving as a lead back. McFadden has RB1 upside, but banking on him being around all season to carry your fantasy backfield could be a recipe for disaster.

Cowboys | No lead candidate at RB in Dallas?

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:07:48 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar are still battling each other for the starting running back position, according to running backs coach Gary Brown. "I can't say who is going to be the lead dog right now, but those guys are going to compete and we're going to do what's necessary to win games," Brown said.

Fantasy Tip: Brown can say what he wants, but Randle and McFadden are probably the likely candidates to receive the most touches, with Randle having a slight edge for being named the starter. Randle should be taken as a RB3, or low-end RB2 in deeper leagues, while McFadden is more of a low-end RB3 to high-end RB4, especially taking his injury history into consideration.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden healthy, happy where he is

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 11:12:53 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden said he's excited to be with the Cowboys and feels like he's a rookie again. McFadden also said the injured hamstring that caused him to miss time this offseason is feeling great.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden will mainly be competing with Joseph Randle for the starting running back job. Lance Dunbar, Ryan Williams and Lache Seastrunk will also be in the mix. Randle is probably the safer option, considering McFadden's extensive injury history, and should be drafted in the low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 range.

Cowboys | Ryan Williams not a fit in Big D?

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 20:30:52 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Ryan Williams is unlikely to make the 53-man roster projected by beat writer Todd Archer. The team's running backs would be RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and FB Tyler Clutts.

Fantasy Tip: Williams could still very well make the team, as this is just one man's opinion, but the former Cardinals tailback needs to prove he can stay healthy and be effective first.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden practices

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 07:22:09 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) practiced in full Tuesday, June 16. "I'm 100% and ready to go play ball," McFadden said. "It felt great. We were just taking precautions, they didn't want me to mess it up or anything crazy. Just being out there today, it felt great. I was out there running, opening up and just trying to do what I can do."

Fantasy Tip: Joseph Randle is gaining steam and appears to be the leader in this committee. Run DMC is a risky RB3 that could heed some reward if Randle falters.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden frustrated

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 15:37:01 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) said he is frustrated that he is not able to participate in organized team activities but would rather sit out now than have his hamstring injury linger.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden has dealt with injuries during his career but is hoping to be healthy for the start of training camp. McFadden likely will be part of a committee at running back and could see the most carries during the regular season if he is healthy. McFadden could be an option in the middle rounds of drafts this season but may not be a weekly starting option.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden continues to rehab

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 21:13:29 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) worked on the side Wednesday, June 10, at organized team activities (OTAs), as he continues to rehab his strained hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Well, its good to see McFadden is in mid-season form. Seriously, he has a ton of talent and could put up huge numbers if he stays healthy behind the behemoth line in Big D. However, be sure to have plenty of depth at the position in seasonal fantasy leagues, and perhaps add Joseph Randle or Lance Dunbar as a handcuff, too.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden wants to produce

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 10:22:09 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden wants to prove that he is not a bust and will be given the opportunity as part of the Cowboys' running-back-by-committee approach, according to running backs coach Gary Brown. McFadden has been splitting first-team reps with RB Joseph Randle. McFadden averaged 3.3 yards per carry the last time he played in a zone-blocking scheme, but Brown is not worried about those numbers.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden may not be the starting running back this season but should receive a good amount of work each game. McFadden has struggled at times in previous seasons but could be a middle-round option on fantasy drafts if he is able to produce behind a better offensive line.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden has hammy strain

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 22:24:21 -0700

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) was working on the side Wednesday, June 3, at organized team activities (OTAs) due to a hamstring strain.

Fantasy Tip: And so it begins for McFadden, who has had a difficult time staying on the field during his NFL career. He has so much talent that he is worth using in all fantasy formats, but if you plan to draft him have plenty of depth on hand.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden works on side

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 20:42:47 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (undisclosed) did not participate in team drills during organized team activities Wednesday, June 3. He rehabbed an undisclosed injury with trainers on the side.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden's injury history makes any ailment more notable than usual. Monitor his status, but all indications suggest it is a minor situation.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle handing bigger load

Fri, 29 May 2015 06:15:48 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle took the majority of the first-team repetitions the first two days of organized team activities this week. RB Darren McFadden split the reps with Randle Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Randle appears to be in the lead in the committee and shakes out as a low-end RB2 right now. Run DMC will still have a say in the matter and is a quality RB3 to target in traditional formats.

Cowboys | Dallas splitting reps at RB

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:26:07 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle have been splitting reps with the first-team offense during organized team activities this week.

Fantasy Tip: Both players likely will receive playing time this upcoming season, but it is not known which player will be the starter. Owners probably should consider the winner of the job to be a middle-round option, while the other player could be selected in the late rounds.

Cowboys | Jerry Jones confident in run game

Thu, 14 May 2015 16:41:17 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the team's overall run game Thursday, May 14. "You say the entire running game, and that would be including our tight ends, including our fullback the entire game we're better," Jones said. The Cowboys have yet to determine roles for their running backs. As it stands, RB Darren McFadden is at the top of the depth chart, with RBs Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: With McFadden's extensive injury history he'll represent too much uncertainty come draft time. If Joseph Randle remains buried on the depth chart, he'll make for an excellent source of value after he rushed for 6.7 yards per carry on 51 attempts last season.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden to return kicks?

Sun, 03 May 2015 17:26:14 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden could return kicks this season, head coach Jason Garrett said Saturday, May 3.

Fantasy Tip: Although Garrett said McFadden could be involved on special teams, it seems unlikely that the Cowboys would risk the health of the oft-injured back on return duty. If McFadden can stay healthy, he has RB1 upside behind Dallas' stout offensive line.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden set to carry load?

Sat, 02 May 2015 21:27:17 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden remains the frontrunner to be the lead back in 2015 after Dallas didn't select a running back in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: If McFadden can stay healthy, he could have a big year behind Dallas' dominant offensive line. He is too much of an injury risk to select in the early rounds of fantasy drafts, but he is one back that will be available in the middle rounds that has the potential to produce like a RB1.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden ready to produce

Fri, 03 Apr 2015 10:03:31 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden is ready to show the world that he's better than what he showed in the last couple of seasons with the Oakland Raiders, and he's confident that he'll produce more behind a great offensive line in Dallas. "I just want to go out there and continue to show people what I can do," McFadden said. "I still don't think the world has seen the best of Darren McFadden."

Fantasy Tip: Talk is cheap. McFadden has only played in 16 games once in his seven-year career, and that came in 2014. However, he averaged a career-low 5.9 yards per carry in his final season with Oakland. Regardless, McFadden is set up to rebound in Dallas, even if he doesn't play a full season. The risk-reward is hard to pass up in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts in 2015.

Cowboys | Dallas to continue to pound on ground

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 07:15:43 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle figure to see a good amount of work in 2015. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team would like to continue their emphasis on inside running after losing RB DeMarco Murray to the Philadelphia Eagles. "Absolutely," Garrett said. "It has to be replaced. It was a good style of football for us to play. We will try to continue to do that."

Fantasy Tip: Run DMC is listed as the team's No. 1 running back on their depth chart with Dunbar and Randle as the secondary backs. Dunbar is a change-of-pace back and is more of a PPR RB5 flyer. McFadden and Randle are pretty similar, but McFadden has a lengthy history of futility and injuries. It's possible the younger Randle overtakes him in camp. For now, though, McFadden should be viewed as a high-end RB3 and Randle as a RB4.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden has per-game bonuses

Sun, 15 Mar 2015 17:23:08 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden's two-year contract includes per-game bonuses each year that will give him incentive to stay healthy or fight through injuries to be on the field. In 2015, McFadden can receive a $9,375 per-game bonus. If he plays all 16 games in 2015, McFadden would receive $150,000 from the Cowboys. In 2016, McFadden can receive a $31,250 per-game bonus.

Fantasy Tip: While the monetary motivation should help him fight through smaller injuries, McFadden has suffered his share of serious injuries, as well. He offers great upside now that he is running behind Dallas' powerful offensive line, but if you draft him, make sure you have a solid backup plan.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden agrees with Dallas

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 07:35:07 -0700

Free-agent RB Darren McFadden agreed to a two-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys Friday, March 13. The deal is pending a physical.

Fantasy Tip: "Run DMC" will be in position to share the load with Joseph Randle next season. McFadden has failed to remain healthy and live up to the hype, but Dallas' offensive line is one of the best in football. He'll be a decent RB4 flyer with a little upside in 2015. Randle has the edge for now as a good RB3 target.

Raiders | Darren McFadden unlikely back with Oakland

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 17:23:14 -0800

Oakland Raiders impending free-agent RB Darren McFadden is not expected to be re-signed this offseason. The Raiders will be looking for competition for RB Latavius Murray.

Fantasy Tip: The free-agent running back market will be flooded with plenty of talent in 2015, so McFadden isn't likely to find a great deal from interested parties. However, he could still yield some decent fantasy value next year, depending on where he lands. Health has always been the question for him.

Raiders | Raiders excited about Latavius Murray

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 09:29:29 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had 112 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team is excited about what he can provide them down the stretch. "I love the way Latavius runs the football," interim head coach Tony Sparano said. "I like what I've seen, but I've seen (14) carries. I want to see more of them. I'm curious, too. I'm curious just like the fans are curious." Despite Sparano's curiosity, he stated that Murray won't immediately be a workhorse back in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers. It's likely that RBs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew will see significant touches this weekend, but Murray will likely have an increased workload than what he's seen in the past.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for those itching to use Murray ($4,800) at FantasyScore, this probably isn't the week to do it. McFadden ($3,800) should continue to see most of the work, but if he's sharing touches in what now may be a three-headed monster, we don't recommend him for daily lineups.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to be more involved?

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 14:21:54 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had four carries for 43 yards in the team's Week 11 loss to the San Diego Chargers, and his 23-yard run late in the third quarter was the team's longest rushing gain for a running back of the season. "They've been wanting to get me in the mix more and that's all I can ask," Murray said. "When they do, I have to make sure they give me a reason to put me back in there." Murray is a much bigger back than either RBs Darren McFadden or Maurice Jones-Drew, and he runs with an upright style. Oakland finished with 71 yards on 19 carries, which was their highest rushing output since Oct. 12 in their first matchup with the Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: At this point in the Raiders' winless season, they just might be motivated to make a drastic change in the backfield in hopes of better results. Murray will continue to be cheap at FantasyScore if you're feeling very bold in Week 12.

Raiders | More carries for Darren McFadden?

Tue, 14 Oct 2014 19:04:58 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden carried the ball on 14 of the team's 20 rush attempts in Week 6, and interim coach Tony Sparano said he wants to emphasize the run going forward.

Fantasy Tip: With McFadden looking like the clear No. 1 back, an increased emphasis on the run game should boost his value going forward. He probably isn't a great play at FantasyScore in Week 7 when the Raiders face the third-ranked run defense of the Arizona Cardinals, but McFadden could turn into a useful option when the matchups are favorable.

Raiders | Bigger role coming for MJD?

Sat, 11 Oct 2014 18:10:15 -0700

Oakland Radiers RB Maurice Jones-Drew has just 11 carries for 12 yards in two games this season, but interim head coach Tony Sparano said he wants him to share the load with RB Darren McFadden. "I'd like Maurice to take a little bit greater role, maybe get some snaps off of Darren," Sparano said. "If we could, keep them both fresh that way, but we also have got to be running the football and doing some things that way too."

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Jones-Drew will be eating into Darren McFadden's carries with Sporano taking over, and the situation is worth watching going forward. However, neither back is a great option at FantasyScore in Week 6 against the ninth-ranked run defense of the San Diego Chargers.

Raiders | Darren McFadden goes distance

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 20:37:10 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden carried 11 times for 40 yards in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins in London, while RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) carried twice for just one yard. McFadden also had four receptions for 32 yards, while Jones-Drew had two catches for only two yards.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden received a majority of the touches in the Oakland backfield before the team mostly abandoned the run with a lopsided score in the second half. For now, McFadden has more fantasy appeal between the two backs.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew active today

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 08:43:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is active Sunday, Sept. 28, for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: MJD and Darren McFadden are expected to have a 50-50 split this week. It's probably best to find other options until this situation reveals a clear front runner.

Raiders | Oakland RBs likely 50-50 split

Sat, 27 Sep 2014 16:55:05 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden and RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) are likely to receive a 50-50 split of the carries in Week 4, in the opinion of beat writer Vic Tafur.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden ($4,800; 9.6% of your cap) and Jones-Drew ($4,900; 9.8%) cancel each other out a bit as it could be a toss-up as to which one will be valuable enough to start on FantasyScore.

Raiders | Darren McFadden to start in London

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 18:54:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden is expected to make a third straight start in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins in London, head coach Dennis Allen said Friday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden is expected to be re-joined by Maurice Jones-Drew in the backfield, but McFadden is projected to get more touches and therefore has more value in FantasyScore. At just $4800 (or 9.6 percent of the salary cap), McFadden could be a solid flex play against a Miami Dolphins run defense which ranks 20th in the NFL by allowing 125.3 yards per game.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew expected to play

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 10:17:25 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 25, and appears primed to play in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins in London. It was his first full practice since injuring his hand in Week 1. Jones-Drew will likely have a big role, along with RB Darren McFadden, against the Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew will cost you $4,900 (9.8% of cap) at FantasyScore. It's unclear exactly what the split will be in the backfield between MJD and McFadden, so relying on either running back as more than a flex is a risky proposition.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew out

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 06:55:07 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is out for Week 3. RB Darren McFadden is expected to start.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden doesn't have a great matchup against the New England Patriots. He's still worth of considering as a flex with his $4,800 (9.6% of your cap) FantasyScore price tag.

Raiders | Darren McFadden to have big role

Sat, 20 Sep 2014 08:11:18 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden is expected to receive a heavy workload even if RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is active for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden has been fairly quiet so far this season but should have a chance to have a solid performance this week. McFadden costs $4,800 on FantasyScore, but owners could consider spending a little more money on a better option.

Raiders | Raiders to split carries without MJD

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 13:15:59 -0700

Oakland Raiders RBs Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray will both receive a crack at the running back duties in Week 2 against the Houston Texans with RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) unlikely to play, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson. The Raiders only had 25 yards rushing on 12 carries in Week 1 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden and Murray will each cost only the minimum for running backs ($3,700) at FantasyScore this weekend. How they'll be used is anyone's guess at this point. Consider both backs weak flex options against the Texans.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew likely out

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 05:32:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is expected to miss the Week 2 game, according to multiple sources. Jones-Drew had a small bandage covering a surgical site below his index finger, and his hand was swollen Thursday, Sept. 11. He said he didn't break his hand, however, multiple sources have reported that he did break his hand. He's not expected to miss a lot of time.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden ($3,700; 7.4% of your cap) becomes a great bargain on FantasyScore against the Houston Texans this weekend. Latavius Murray should see some action as well, at the same fantasy price tag.

Raiders | Darren McFadden might start Week 2

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 22:04:43 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden will get the start in Week 2 against the Houston Texans if RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is unable to play.

Fantasy Tip: If Run DMC gets the start, he could be a solid mid-level FantasyScore play heading into Week 2. Latavius Murray and Marcel Reece also could be bargain bin grabs, as they would see increased touches as well.

Raiders | Coach impressed with Darren McFadden

Mon, 18 Aug 2014 10:04:47 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden has performed well during training camp and shown some explosiveness during his runs, according to head coach Dennis Allen. "I think Darren is probably running the ball as well as I've seen him run it since I've been here. I think he's probably more explosive than I've seen him since I've been here. I think part of that is that he's remained healthy throughout the offseason, throughout training camp. There haven't been any kind of nicks or nagging little deals that have slowed him down. So, hopefully that trend will continue because I've seen a lot of positives in what he's done in the running game," Allen said.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden is competing with Maurice Jones-Drew for the starting running back job but both should receive carries this season. Owners should consider McFadden as a weekly flex option, because he will not be the main option in the running game for the Raiders.

Raiders | RB battle rages on

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 21:17:34 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew started the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings Friday, Aug. 8, and he carried twice for 10 yards while also hauling in two passes for 14 yards. RB Darren McFadden had just one tote for 23 yards and he did not have any receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Pocket Hercules was listed as the starter on the team's initial depth chart of the preseason, but the battle will continue on as training camp and the preseason goes on. Right now, Jones-Drew is the more attractive fantasy selection on draft day, and Run DMC is too injury-prone anyway.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew motivated

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 14:17:16 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew is motivated by the competition he has with fellow RB Darren McFadden. Jones-Drew said he has to continue to push himself and strive for greatness in order to stay ahead of McFadden.

Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew is listed ahead of McFadden on the team's depth chart, but there will likely still be a backfield committee of sorts in Oakland. If either one gets injured for an extended period of time, the other attains low-end RB2 potential.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew ahead of Darren McFadden

Mon, 04 Aug 2014 20:54:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew was listed ahead of Darren McFadden on the depth chart Monday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Neither back is going to shoulder the load alone unless the other is injured, but for now, Jones-Drew seems to have the edge on McFadden. Both backs are worth drafting with Jones-Drew making a decent RB3 option if he remains the top back.

Raiders | Unclear how carries will be divided

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden and RB Maurice Jones-Drew could struggle while splitting carries this season, according to ESPN.com's Paul Gutierrez. Gutierrez noted that both backs have traditionally performed better later in games, and splitting carries could prevent both backs from finding a rhythm.

Fantasy Tip: It will be interesting to see how the carries will ultimately be divided between McFadden and Jones-Drew, and it could end up being the unfortunate situation where the lead-back role changes hands on a weekly basis. Both players are backup options at the RB spot for fantasy purposes.

Raiders | Plan to run it often

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 07:56:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders OT Donald Penn said the team plans to run the ball often in 2014. "We're gonna run the ball, run the ball, then run it again, until the defense stops us," Penn said.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew should have ample opportunities to run the ball. However, they're going to need an effective passing game to keep eight defenders out of the box limiting their daylight. The winner of the lion's share of carries should be an RB3 with the second back and Latavius Murray as flex options.

Raiders | Two expected to compete for starting RB job

Mon, 02 Jun 2014 11:53:09 -0700

Oakland Raiders RBs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew are expected to compete for the starting running back job during training camp. The loser of the competition is still expected to receive plenty of carries during the season, because the team wants to keep both players healthy and fresh.

Fantasy Tip: Both players have dealt with injuries in the past, but they should be healthy for training camp. The winner of the competition probably should be considered a No. 3 fantasy running back in most leagues. The loser of the competition likely will still see a good amount of carries in 2014 and could be a handcuff or a later-round running back for owners.

Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew agrees

Fri, 28 Mar 2014 05:36:15 -0700

The Oakland Raiders agreed with free-agent RB Maurice Jones-Drew (Jaguars) on a three-year deal. He's set to take a physical Friday, March 28, and sign the deal later in the day.

Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew will have to split carries with Darren McFadden, which could keep them both healthy. They also could cancel each other out in fantasy. Jones-Drew has the consistency, but McFadden could have the burst. Monitor this timeshare in camp, but we see both as weak RB3s right now.
