Free-agent OT Jake Long (Falcons) declined to sign an injury waiver Friday, July 29, and will not sign with the Baltimore Ravens. Long texted ESPN saying that his knee feels great, was enthused by Dr. James Andrews' review of his knee this week, and he looks forward to playing this season.

Long said he's been working out and is ready for his next opportunity in the NFL. "When I wake up and my knee doesn't hurt, you know what I mean," Long said. "I feel the strength back. You can see it. You can feel it. My body feels good the way I'm moving, working out and how good I feel moving on it."

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Monday, Dec. 23, that OT Jake Long (knee) has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee, and injury which will require surgery. "With respect to the fact that also the MCL is included, surgery will probably be delayed four to six weeks," Fisher said. "He takes very good care of himself. He knows and understands what's ahead. Obviously he is shocked right now but he's indicated to us that he'll be back and good to go."
