Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (knee) is expected to have a normal offseason after undergoing surgery on his right knee Tuesday, Sept. 30. "It's a meniscus repair," general manager Ben Cherington said. "This is something that he's had some off-and-on symptoms for some time now. Not something that prevents him from pitching, but we just want to use the offseason to take care of this. It's a relatively routine procedure. Pretty quick recovery, shouldn't affect his offseason." This is something that Buchholz has dealt with for at least one season. Buchholz went 8-11 with a 5.34 ERA in 28 starts.

Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (knee) will start the team's series finale against the Seattle Mariners Wednesday, June 25. Buchholz will start in place of SP Felix Doubront, but manager John Farrell said Doubront will be worked back into the rotation when the team returns home next week.
Fantasy Tip: Buchholz has struggled even when healthy this season so there is no reason to go running to the waiver wire in standard formats just yet. That being said, he did post a 1.74 ERA in 16 starts last year so he is worth keeping an eye on.

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said SP Clay Buchholz (knee) will make his next start with the Red Sox but it is not known when the start will be. SPs Brandon Workman or Rubby De La Rosa likely will lose their rotation spot with Buchholz returning.
Fantasy Tip: If we had to guess, Buchholz would take the spot of De La Rosa, since Workman has been a more consistent starter in the rotation. Buchholz should be owned in AL-only leagues, but you probably want to wait a start or two before jumping back in in deep mixed leagues.
