Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch won't have to repay bonus

Wed, 17 Feb 2016 11:45:15 -0800

Retiring Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch won't have to forfeit his $5 million signing bonus as the team won't ask him for it.

Fantasy Tip: There is still some skepticism whether Lynch is actually retiring, but Thomas Rawls is an RB2 in fantasy if Lynch is gone.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch huge in postseason

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 13:57:10 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is eighth among running backs in postseason rushing yards (937) and third among running backs with six 100-yard rushing games in the playoffs. He gained 488 yards after contact in the postseason from 2010 to 2015, 270 more yards after contact than the next-highest running back over that span.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch certainly made his mark on the NFL, especially after being traded from the Buffalo Bills to the Seahawks. With Lynch retiring, Thomas Rawls will take over as Seattle's starting running back, and he should be considered a RB2 for next season's drafts.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch's plans confirmed

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 12:33:31 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's plans to retire were confirmed by Lynch's agent Monday, Feb. 8.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Thomas Rawls will be the next man up for Seattle in 2016 after an impressive rookie campaign last season. Rawls tallied over 900 total yards and five total touchdowns in just 13 games and seven starts. Assuming Rawls is the starting running back, he has RB1 potential but should be drafted as a RB2.

Seahawks | Seattle thanks Marshawn Lynch

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 06:12:21 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to retire this offseason, and the team's official Twitter account thanked him Sunday, Feb. 7.

Fantasy Tip: If Lynch returns with another team, he'll be in the RB2 conversation. Thomas Rawls is expected to take over for Beast Mode in Seattle, and he'll be in the low-end RB2 mix.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch hints at retirement

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 19:07:52 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch sent a tweet Sunday, Feb. 7, indicating that he plans to retire. The tweet contained two fingers up with a picture of Lynch's green cleats hanging.

Fantasy Tip: If Lynch is indeed hanging them up as his tweet seems to indicate, Thomas Rawls would enter the 2016 season as a potential RB2.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch planning to retire

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 09:57:51 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has told people close to him that he plans to retire, according to multiple league sources.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch, who turns 30 in April, was limited to 111 carries, 417 yards and three touchdowns in seven regular-season games this year due to hamstring and abdominal injuries. Thomas Rawls will replace him in Seattle and should be viewed as a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 in drafts.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch likely done in Seattle

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 08:59:37 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is unlikely to return to the Seahawks in 2016, according to NFL Network commentator Michael Robinson. Robinson, who is close friends with Lynch, said he knew what Lynch's intentions were regarding retirement, but he wasn't at liberty to say. "It's fair to assume (his days in Seattle are over,)" Robinson said.

Fantasy Tip: In the interview, there was a feeling a door was left open that Lynch could return in 2016 with another team. If Lynch returns, he'll be a low-end RB1 consideration.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch leaning towards sunset

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 10:22:23 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is leaning towards retirement, according to Seahawks general manager John Schneider.

Fantasy Tip: A lot can change over the course of the offseason, but Thomas Rawls impressed before he got hurt. He'll be a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 in drafts if Lynch hangs 'em up.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to be traded or released?

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 16:33:40 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to be released or traded this offseason, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. The Seahawks could save $6.5 million against the salary cap by moving Lynch.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a big surprise, Lynch leaving would give the Seahawks more money and they still have Thomas Rawls, perhaps considered to be a poor man's Lynch. If Lynch leaves, Rawls will be in low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 territory.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to have big cap hit

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 14:00:04 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch will take an $11.5 million cap hit next season -- the highest cap hit for any running back under contract for 2016. Comparatively, RB Thomas Rawls will only take a $530,000 cap hit. Additionally, Rawls drastically out produced Lynch in 2015. Lynch gained 497 yards from scrimmage on 292 snaps, with 3.8 yards per carry and a 57% third-down conversion rate. Rawls gained 906 yards from scrimmage on 279 snaps, with 5.6 yards per carry (most in NFL) and a 75% third-down conversation rate.

Fantasy Tip: The formula certainly doesn't bode well for Lynch's future with Seattle. The Seahawks can pay less for more, essentially, at least based on 2015. Don't be surprised if Lynch is playing in a new uniform or watching football on his couch next season. If Lynch does not return, Rawls has RB1 potential.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch's future uncertain

Mon, 18 Jan 2016 16:27:34 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's future with the team is uncertain at this point, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch could be released this offseason because of his salary cap figure, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He likely will able to find a starting job with another team and could be an early-round option in some leagues.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch quiet in playoff game

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 14:44:15 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for 20 yards on six carries in the divisional round playoff game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch was coming back from an injury, so he may have received limited snaps during the game. There is a chance that Lynch will have to find another team this offseason but should be a solid option in drafts in 2016 if he finds a starting job.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch active Sunday

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 08:48:21 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) will play in the NFC divisional-round game against the Carolina Panthers, according to head coach Pete Carroll, who added that he will continue to monitor his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) had been listed as probable on the injury report and was a full participant in practice throughout the week. However, he makes a risky play in FantasyScore because it is uncertain how many snaps he will see. Don't be surprised if Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) sees the majority of carries versus Carolina.

Seahawks | Christine Michael will be mixed in

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 15:47:31 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael will still rotate in quite a bit in the divisional matchup with the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 17, even with RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) expected to return, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks won't put Lynch through a pre-game test.

Fantasy Tip: Not only is Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) a big question mark this weekend after having not played since Nov. 15, but his return clouds the value of Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap), as well. We all know what Beast Mode can do when healthy, so he's a risk/reward pick this weekend.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch is probable

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 14:25:39 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) is listed as probable for the divisional matchup with the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 17, and head coach Pete Carroll said there's a "really good chance" that Lynch plays.

Fantasy Tip: There's plenty of reason to doubt Lynch's ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) abilities to turn you a profit, especially since he hasn't played since Nov. 15 and is facing a tough Panthers defense. Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) is cheaper and may see a significant number of touches, as well.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch says he's ready

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 09:40:56 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) said he is ready to play in the divisional round against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Remember that Beast Mode ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) hasn't played since Nov. 15, so he could be quite rusty if he plays. He could also yield plenty of carries to Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap). That makes Lynch not all that attractive in a tough matchup.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch says he's ready

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 21:54:15 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) was asked by Kenny Mayne of ESPN how he was doing, and Lynch replied via text: "I'm ready."

Fantasy Tip: If Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) does end up playing, he faces a tough matchup against Carolina. However, he ran for 54 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers earlier this year, and with few options available at FantasyScore, Lynch's touchdown potential makes him worth considering.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch up in the air

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 16:30:05 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's (abdomen) status for the divisional round against the Carolina Panthers remains uncertain, even though he put in another full practice Thursday, Jan. 14. Seattle coaches have been encouraged by Lynch's progress this week, though.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) had a full week of practice last week before being ruled out, so it's hard to tell how ready he is. He's extremely risky on FantasyScore, especially with Seattle's game coming Sunday. Even if Lynch does play, expect him to concede plenty of touches to Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) in a tough matchup.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch, Luke Willson full go

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 16:24:44 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) and TE Luke Willson (concussion) were full participants in practice Thursday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) participated fully in practice last week, too, and still didn't play. If he does play, he could be limited and may split carries with Christine Michael, not to mention that the Carolina Panthers were above average defensively against running backs this season. As for Willson ($3,100, 6.2%), he's a big risk as he didn't catch more than two passes all season.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch a full participant

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 16:23:22 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) was a full participant at practice Wednesday, Jan. 13, and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said Lynch looked better than he did last week. However, the Seahawks won't know much else until Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) plays for the first time since Nov. 15, he's likely to have Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) eat into his workload. Using Lynch of FantasyScore seems like an unnecessary risk to take. Michael should be the more attractive pick versus the Carolina Panthers.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to practice

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 14:13:08 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) will take part in practice Wednesday, Jan. 13, and head coach Pete Carroll said they are taking Lynch's status day-to-day. Lynch appeared to be on track to play in the wild-card round before declaring himself out before the team traveled to face the Minnesota Vikings. Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said his team is preparing as though Lynch will return. Lynch hasn't played since Week 10, and he was averaging only 3.8 yards per carry on 111 rushes before his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is once again a giant risk on FantasyScore, and he could be severely limited even if he makes his return. There's not much upside here. Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) is the better choice and cheaper.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch could be game-time decision

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 16:24:03 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) didn't have a setback last week, but head coach Pete Carroll said Lynch could be a game-time decision in the divisional round against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 17. "We've got to go one day at a time, see what happens, see how it goes, get him out there practicing and see what that means," Carroll said. "We don't know yet."

Fantasy Tip: Lynch could be limited against Carolina even if he returns to his first game action since Nov. 15. Lynch won't come cheap, either, so he should probably be ignored yet again. Christine Michael would carry the load again if Lynch is out, but he's also a risky FantasyScore pick against a strong Panthers D.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch ruled himself out

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:23:26 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) ruled himself out for the wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Jan. 10, because "he just didn't feel like he had it," according to head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll said he has no idea if Lynch will play in the divisional round against the Carolina Panthers. RB Christine Michael had a team-high 70 yards on 21 carries against the Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: There's no guarantee Lynch will play against the Panthers, and you shouldn't count on it at FantasyScore. Michael will once again be the better choice, but he faces a tough matchup and is likely only useful as a contrarian play this weekend.

Seahawks | Christine Michael to start at RB

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 09:01:51 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael will be the starting running back in the NFC wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Jan. 10. RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) was ruled out despite being a full participant in practice during the week.

Fantasy Tip: Michael ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has rushed for 192 yards in three games since re-signing with the club, including 102 yards on 17 carries in last week's game against the Arizona Cardinals. He makes an intriguing option in FantasyScore this week, although the Minnesota defense was tied for the third-fewest rushing touchdowns allowed during the regular season.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch ruled out

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 20:40:51 -0800

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) has been ruled out for the NFC wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) was expected to suit up for the game, but he obviously needs to be removed from all lineups at FantasyScore. Christine Michael ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) becomes a potential mid-priced play while Russell Wilson ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) becomes a very attractive option.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch is questionable

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 15:30:30 -0800

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) put in another full practice Friday, Jan. 8, but he's listed as questionable for the wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings. All indications are that Lynch will play, and head coach Pete Carroll has engaged in some gamesmanship. Lynch practiced in full all week. "I have not said yet that he's playing. I know that's been out there. We don't know for sure until we finish the week. He's looked really good," Carroll said.

Fantasy Tip: You should fully expect Lynch ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) to play in this important game, but don't expect an immediate return to Beast Mode. Lynch has had a long layoff and is facing a tough Minnesota defense in freezing temperatures. His high FantasyScore price indicates otherwise, so he's a very big risk.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch a game-time decision

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 14:55:19 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) will be a game-time decision for the wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Jan. 10, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Lynch took every practice snap this week.

Fantasy Tip: All signs are pointing toward Lynch ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) playing in this one for the first time since Nov. 15, but he's extremely risky on FantasyScore at a high cost. He could be somewhat limited even if he does play, and the Vikings don't present the greatest matchup, either.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch has delivered in playoffs

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 18:32:41 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch faces the Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 10, and his 91.7 rushing yards per game in the postseason are the fourth most in NFL history.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) is on track to return to the field for the first time since Week 10, but despite his past playoff success, the long layoff and solid Minnesota defense make him a risky option at FantasyScore.

Seahawks | Two Seahawks fully practice

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 16:40:19 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) and WR Tyler Lockett (hip) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) should be good to go this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings after an extended absence. Lockett ($5,900, 11.8%) will give Seattle's offense a much-needed dynamic weapon and another deep threat. The Vikings were pretty good versus running backs this year, though, and Lynch may be a little rusty out of the gate. Lockett isn't a bad play at wide receiver, but don't expect him to put up big numbers.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to practice in full

Wed, 06 Jan 2016 12:43:01 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) will be a full participant in practice Wednesday, Jan. 6, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Well, it certainly would appear that Lynch ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) will be ready for the wild-card tilt against the Minnesota Vikings unless he suffers a setback. When considering that Lynch hasn't played since Nov. 15, he's much too risky at a high daily price against a Vikes defense that is stout up front. Lynch could be limited, too.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch might return Sunday

Mon, 04 Jan 2016 17:31:07 -0800

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) is "in the program" and should be ready to go, head coach Pete Carroll said Monday, Jan. 4. The team is hopeful Lynch will be able to return for the NFC Wild Card Game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is a risky FantasyScore play, as he could very well have some rust. It wouldn't be surprising to see him struggle in his return and/or have a playing time restriction in his first game back, if he does indeed play.

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) was working out at the team's facility Monday, Jan. 4, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks will not return to practice until Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Lynch may have a chance to play in the Wild Card game against the Minnesota Vikings, but owners will need to monitor his practice participation to see if he will play. Lynch would be a solid fantasy option if he receives his regular workload against the Vikings.

Sat, 02 Jan 2016 06:22:50 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) is expected to participate in practice Monday, Jan. 4, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch has been ruled out for the team's Week 17 game, but it appears that he will have a chance to play in the playoffs. Christine Michael ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) and Bryce Brown ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) probably will share the work in Week 17 but neither is a great option.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch out again

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 12:50:05 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) is day-to-day but will not play this week, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: None of Christine Michael ($3,800, 7.6% of cap), Bryce Brown ($2,300, 4.6%) or Fred Jackson ($2,200, 4.4%) has really stood out with Lynch and Thomas Rawls gone. Jackson is the better PPR play, but their current backfield situation is more of a committee approach.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch could be back next week

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 12:49:03 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) could return to play in the Wild Card playoff round next week, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch has been out since Nov. 15, so it's really hard to say how much he'd actually play in a Wild Card game for the Seahawks with Christine Michael, Bryce Brown and Fred Jackson all available, too. For Lynch's expected price tag in the playoffs, he's a huge risk in daily formats.

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) will work out both Monday, Dec. 28, and Tuesday, Dec. 29, before he can be cleared to practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Beast Mode is cleared to practice this week, there's no guarantee he'll be active to face the Arizona Cardinals, a tough fantasy matchup. The Seattle backfield would be best avoided in daily games for their regular season finale.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch, Doug Baldwin sit

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 16:48:45 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) and WR Doug Baldwin (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) has been a mainstay in the DNP department over the last few weeks and may not play again this season. Baldwin ($8,200, 16.4%), on the other hand, is somewhat of a concern. He'll need to be monitored as this weekend's game approaches. If he's active, he's a must-start as no wide receiver in football has been hotter than Baldwin lately.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch won't be ready

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 16:17:47 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) is making good progress but will not return to practice this week and won't be ready to play in Week 16 against the St. Louis Rams, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks haven't set a timetable for when Lynch might return, and Seattle hopes he can help them in January for the playoffs. RBs Christine Michael and Bryce Brown will continue sharing in the backfield with Lynch out.

Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely that Lynch will play again in the regular season, and Seattle will likely hold him out so that he can be healthy for the playoffs. Michael should be your first target off the waiver wire for championship tilts this week, and both he and Brown could be effective in flex spots on FantasyScore against the Rams.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch not ready

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 10:54:46 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) is at least a week or two away from returning to action after having sports hernia surgery last month. RBs DuJuan Harris and Fred Jackson will be the main ball carriers now with RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) out for the season. Harris is likely to receive the first crack at the starting duties.

Fantasy Tip: At this point in the fantasy playoffs, don't feel the need to hang onto Lynch if you have other roster needs. Harris should be your first target off the waiver wire if you owned Lynch or Rawls or both. But keep in mind Harris and Jackson could be frustrating flex plays in deeper leagues since the Seahawks have transitioned to more of a passing team with Beast Mode sidelined.
