Raiders | Marshawn Lynch finds the end zone

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 19:14:09 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch finished with 12 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown and one catch for four yards in a 45-20 win over the New York Jets in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch wasn't needed much in a game that got out of hand, but he is the headliner in the Oakland backfield. He should be a high-end RB2 against Washington in Week 3.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch fined

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 07:16:02 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was fined $12,000 by the National Football League for making an obscene gesture during Week 1's game against the Tennessee Titans, according to a league source. Following one of his carries in the fourth quarter, Lynch put up both of his middle fingers.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch gained 76 rushing yards on 18 carries last week and added an 18-yard catch. He makes a viable RB2 or flex option versus most opponents and has a favorable Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch finishes with 76 yards

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 14:03:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. He also caught one pass for 16 yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch played well in his first game with the Raiders and was able to handle a heavy workload. He likely will receive a similar amount of carries each week and will be a No. 2 running back or a flex option against most opponents.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch to be eased in Week 1?

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:14:33 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch should see the bulk of carries in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, but head coach Jack Del Rio admitted recently he doesn't know what to expect from his starting running back right away.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch was one of the more polarizing high-profile players during draft season, with some owners taking him as high as the middle of the second round and others landing him in the fifth. The Raiders would probably like nothing more than for him to be their featured back, but as a 31-year-old running back with a history of back issues coming off a year away from football, the odds are stacked against Lynch holding up to a full workload. As long as he can play, however, he should be considered a high-end RB2.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch not participating

Thu, 25 May 2017 06:25:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch isn't participating in organized team activities, but he has been present this week getting acquainted with teammates.

Fantasy Tip: Some rust should be expected of Lynch after a one-year hiatus and missing half of the previous season due to injury. He should still see enough volume on first and second downs to be a low-end RB2 in fantasy.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch fitting in

Fri, 19 May 2017 20:32:24 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is making progress on the field and has "meshed very well" with the rest of the team, general manager Reggie McKenzie said Thursday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is slated to lead Oakland's backfield, and while he isn't a sure thing coming back from a one-year layoff, he has enough upside to draft as a RB2.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch focused on football

Fri, 05 May 2017 20:50:45 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is showing "authentic passion" during workouts, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch should step into the lead role in Oakland's backfield, and with one of the best offensive lines in front of him, RB2 production isn't out of the question.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch joins workouts

Thu, 04 May 2017 20:03:47 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch has joined the offseason training program and has taken part in individual position drills.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch should lead Oakland's backfield and handle most of the carries near the goal line. Behind a stout offensive line, he is worth a look as a low-end RB2.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch will be used on early downs

Wed, 26 Apr 2017 11:13:15 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to be on the field for first and second downs with the Raiders. RB DeAndre Washington, RB Jalen Richard and FB Jamize Olawale are expected to see time on third down.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch should receive most of the carries for the Raiders in 2017 and likely will not receive many targets in the passing game. He should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in most leagues but will have more value in standard leagues.

Seahawks | Fifth-rounder coming for Beast Mode

Wed, 26 Apr 2017 07:47:25 -0700

Updating earlier reports, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's rights are headed to the Oakland Raiders, along with a sixth-round pick in 2018, for a fifth-round pick from the Raiders in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch, now 31, has been out of the game for a full year and missed half the year due to injuries in 2015. He has an incentive-laden deal and could still reach 1,000 yards. He's a RB2 possibility in fantasy.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch deal agreed to

Wed, 26 Apr 2017 05:29:24 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has agreed to a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders Wednesday, April 26, and the two teams have agreed to compensation, according to sources. The NFL draft compensation will be a swap of late-round picks in 2018. The deal and swap are contingent on Lynch passing a physical. The one-year deal has a $3 million base salary with a chance to earn $2 million more if he reaches 1,000 yards. The max value of the contract is $8.5 million.

Fantasy Tip: The last we saw of Beast Mode, he rushed for just 417 yards and three scores on 111 attempts in an injury-riddled 2015. He just turned 31 and could still approach the 1,000-yard plateau. However, his upside in fantasy is minimal as an aging RB2.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch, Raiders still talking

Tue, 25 Apr 2017 08:34:42 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch and the Oakland Raiders are still talking about a revised contract, according to Seahawks general manager John Schneider. "Nothing really new,'' Schneider said. "They're still talking. The steps after that were to be that if they came to an agreement, (Raiders GM) Reggie (McKenzie) and I would discuss a form of compensation."

Fantasy Tip: Lynch would be a low-end RB2 in fantasy if he lands with the Raiders.

NFL | Raiders-Beastmode union has deadline?

Tue, 18 Apr 2017 09:32:30 -0700

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) has an agreement in place to join the Oakland Raiders, if the Seattle Seahawks trade his rights. However, the deal may have a deadline of the 2017 NFL Draft. Oakland could move on if it drafts a power back, in the opinion of NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: As this story evolves, we'll keep you updated. An Oakland-employed Lynch would be a high-risk, high-reward RB2 in fantasy drafts.

Raiders | No deal between Oakland, Marshawn Lynch yet

Fri, 14 Apr 2017 14:50:20 -0700

Updating a previous report, retired RB Marshawn Lynch has not agreed to the parameters of a contract with the Oakland Raiders at this point but a deal is expected to happen.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders should be able to a deal with Lynch in the near future but would still need to acquire his rights from the Seattle Seahawks. He likely will receive most of the carries if he joins the Raiders and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back for fantasy owners.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch-to-Oakland nearing completion

Fri, 14 Apr 2017 13:08:38 -0700

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Oakland Raiders on Friday, April 14, after the Seattle Seahawks granted permission for him to visit the Raiders last week. Oakland must now work out a trade with Seattle before the deal can become official.

Fantasy Tip: This looks like it is going to happen after all. The contract will likely be for one year and the trade compensation Seattle receives will probably be a late-round conditional pick. Lynch retired in 2016 after suffering through an injury-plagued 2015, so it is fair to wonder how much the soon-to-be 31-year-old has left in the tank. With that said, he would almost certainly assume goal-line and early-down duties behind one of the best offensive lines in the league. Lynch could have low-end RB2 value if this deal works out.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch expected to land in OAK

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 07:42:15 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to be traded to the Oakland Raiders, according to sources. The deal is contingent on a reworked contract first. Lynch had permission to talk to the Raiders, and his agents have permission to rework his deal.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch turns 31 in a few days, and after only 111 carries in 2015, he has essentially missed a year-and-a-half. It'll take time for his body to get used to the punishment again. He also doesn't catch many passes, which hurts his value in the popular PPR format. He's still Beast Mode, though, and he'll still be a grinder that you could see as a low-end RB2.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch begins process to return

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 07:39:17 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has begun the reinstatement process into the NFL, according to a source. He's hoping to play with the Oakland Raiders or team with CB Richard Sherman if he's traded.

Fantasy Tip: Beast Mode would be a low-end RB2 in fantasy without a lot of upside, especially in PPR formats.

Patriots | Marshawn Lynch has interest in Patriots

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 12:36:34 -0700

Former Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is interested in playing for the New England Patriots if plans to play for the Oakland Raiders fall through.

Fantasy Tip: Talk about the rich possibly getting richer. The last thing the NFL needs is the defending Super Bowl champs adding Lynch. Of course, Lynch would split time with other backs like Dion Lewis and James White, but he could be their main ground-and-pound guy. Keep tabs on this situation as the offseason progresses.

NFL | Marshawn Lynch plans to play again

Wed, 05 Apr 2017 13:49:10 -0700

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch told the Oakland Raiders that he intends to unretire and play again, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders may need to trade for Lynch since the Seattle Seahawks still own his rights, but the two sides should be able to agree to something if Lynch wants to play for the Raiders. He likely would receive most of the carries if he joins the Raiders and can be considered a No. 2 fantasy running back.

Wed, 05 Apr 2017 11:23:24 -0700

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch is meeting with the Oakland Raiders Wednesday, April 5, according to sources. The Seattle Seahawks own Lynch's rights and are fine with the visit.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders have been linked to Lynch this offseason and could acquire him if he wants to continue his playing career. He likely would receive most of the carries if he joins the Raiders and could be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

NFL | Marshawn Lynch misses football

Tue, 21 Mar 2017 21:42:54 -0700

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch misses football and there's "no question" about it, according to his agent Doug Hendrickson.

Fantasy Tip: This could be another hint that Lynch is on his way back to the NFL after a year away from the game, but Hendrickson also contended that the former Seattle Seahawks is "the kind of guy that can shift by the hour." If the 30-year-old does return and winds up with the Raiders, he should immediately be someone of great interest to fantasy owners, especially considering how successful Oakland's offense was last season.

Sat, 18 Mar 2017 19:41:02 -0700

Retired Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has a "very good chance" to end his one-year retirement, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Fantasy Tip: If Lynch returns, the Seahawks will likely have to release him or trade him. The situation is worth keeping an eye on. In the right offense, Lynch could still be a solid RB2.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch has not asked for release

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 17:08:52 -0700

Contrary to a previous report, retired RB Marshawn Lynch did visit the Seattle Seahawks' headquarters Thursday, March 16, but did not request his release. Lynch has stayed in shape and is considered playing again. The Seahawks are open to trading Lynch's rights to a team, but the Seahawks were not willing to release him last season when there were rumors of Lynch considering a comeback.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Lynch decides to play again. The Oakland Raiders appear to be his most likely destination if he plays but they may need to trade for his rights. Lynch was one of the better running backs when he played and could be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in some leagues if he is healthy.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch asked for release?

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 12:45:18 -0700

Updating a previous story, retired RB Marshawn Lynch met with Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll on Thursday, March 16, to ask for his release, according to the Huffington Post's Jordan Schultz.

Fantasy Tip: The Seahawks still hold Lynch's rights although he announced his retirement last season. While this could feed further speculation that Lynch is trying to clear a path in order to join his hometown Oakland Raiders, it's usually not a good idea to predict what "Beast Mode" is thinking. Lynch averaged 3.8 yards per carry in 2015 and was having trouble staying healthy, so it is debatable how great of an addition the 30-year-old (31 in April) would be for Oakland anyway.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch to Raiders?

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 05:35:31 -0700

Former Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch could be potentially acquired by the Oakland Raiders either via trade or release, according to sources. Lynch retired last season.

Fantasy Tip: Beast Mode turns 31 next month, and it would be hard to expect RB1 numbers after the layoff and an injury-riddled 2015 season. He would be a speculative pick late in early drafts.

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch is "up in the air" about a possible return, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. If Lynch does return, the same source said Week 4 or Week 5 are the likeliest return dates.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch won't return

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 09:51:16 -0700

Retired RB Marshawn Lynch confirmed that he won't be returning to play for the Seattle Seahawks. "I'm retired. Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? This one? I'm done. I'm not playing football anymore," Lynch said.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch first announced his retirement immediately following the Super Bowl in February, and he's stuck with his decision. Seattle is expected to use Thomas Rawls as their main back in 2016, but he's unproven and has injury concerns. Don't consider Rawls anything more than a midrange RB2 in fantasy drafts this fall.

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin weighs in on Marshawn Lynch

Mon, 30 May 2016 02:43:12 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin said he is "most certain" that retired RB Marshawn Lynch is done playing football.

Fantasy Tip: Baldwin is Lynch's latest former teammate to weigh in on the running back's future. It doesn’t hurt to take a flier on him as your final pick, but there is a good chance he won't play another down.

Sun, 22 May 2016 16:31:08 -0700

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman said he wouldn't "put anything past" retired RB Marshawn Lynch when asked if he thought Lynch could return to the NFL.

Retired Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch hasn't filed retirement papers, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, and he has not contacted the team about his plans for 2016.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to Reserve/Retired list

Thu, 05 May 2016 14:31:13 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch was placed on the Reserve/Retired list Thursday, May, 5.

Fantasy Tip: This essentially makes Lynch's retirement official. Thomas Rawls should be the primary running back, but he may not be available for Week 1. Christine Michael and C.J. Prosise will also be in the mix. Rawls' status is still up in the air, but he can attain RB2 status if he's healthy for a full season.

Wed, 17 Feb 2016 11:45:15 -0800

Fantasy Tip: There is still some skepticism whether Lynch is actually retiring, but Thomas Rawls is an RB2 in fantasy if Lynch is gone.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch huge in postseason

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 13:57:10 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is eighth among running backs in postseason rushing yards (937) and third among running backs with six 100-yard rushing games in the playoffs. He gained 488 yards after contact in the postseason from 2010 to 2015, 270 more yards after contact than the next-highest running back over that span.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch certainly made his mark on the NFL, especially after being traded from the Buffalo Bills to the Seahawks. With Lynch retiring, Thomas Rawls will take over as Seattle's starting running back, and he should be considered a RB2 for next season's drafts.

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 12:33:31 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's plans to retire were confirmed by Lynch's agent Monday, Feb. 8.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Thomas Rawls will be the next man up for Seattle in 2016 after an impressive rookie campaign last season. Rawls tallied over 900 total yards and five total touchdowns in just 13 games and seven starts. Assuming Rawls is the starting running back, he has RB1 potential but should be drafted as a RB2.

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 09:57:51 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has told people close to him that he plans to retire, according to multiple league sources.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch, who turns 30 in April, was limited to 111 carries, 417 yards and three touchdowns in seven regular-season games this year due to hamstring and abdominal injuries. Thomas Rawls will replace him in Seattle and should be viewed as a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 in drafts.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch likely done in Seattle

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 08:59:37 -0800

Robinson, who is close friends with Lynch, said he knew what Lynch's intentions were regarding retirement, but he wasn't at liberty to say. "It's fair to assume (his days in Seattle are over,)" Robinson said.

Fantasy Tip: In the interview, there was a feeling a door was left open that Lynch could return in 2016 with another team. If Lynch returns, he'll be a low-end RB1 consideration.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to be traded or released?

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 16:33:40 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to be released or traded this offseason, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. The Seahawks could save $6.5 million against the salary cap by moving Lynch.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a big surprise, Lynch leaving would give the Seahawks more money and they still have Thomas Rawls, perhaps considered to be a poor man's Lynch. If Lynch leaves, Rawls will be in low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 territory.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch to have big cap hit

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 14:00:04 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch will take an $11.5 million cap hit next season -- the highest cap hit for any running back under contract for 2016. Comparatively, RB Thomas Rawls will only take a $530,000 cap hit. Additionally, Rawls drastically out produced Lynch in 2015. Lynch gained 497 yards from scrimmage on 292 snaps, with 3.8 yards per carry and a 57% third-down conversion rate. Rawls gained 906 yards from scrimmage on 279 snaps, with 5.6 yards per carry (most in NFL) and a 75% third-down conversation rate.

Fantasy Tip: The formula certainly doesn't bode well for Lynch's future with Seattle. The Seahawks can pay less for more, essentially, at least based on 2015. Don't be surprised if Lynch is playing in a new uniform or watching football on his couch next season. If Lynch does not return, Rawls has RB1 potential.

Mon, 18 Jan 2016 16:27:34 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch's future with the team is uncertain at this point, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 14:44:15 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for 20 yards on six carries in the divisional round playoff game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch was coming back from an injury, so he may have received limited snaps during the game. There is a chance that Lynch will have to find another team this offseason but should be a solid option in drafts in 2016 if he finds a starting job.

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) will play in the NFC divisional-round game against the Carolina Panthers, according to head coach Pete Carroll, who added that he will continue to monitor his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) had been listed as probable on the injury report and was a full participant in practice throughout the week. However, he makes a risky play in FantasyScore because it is uncertain how many snaps he will see. Don't be surprised if Christine Michael ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) sees the majority of carries versus Carolina.
