Raiders | Marshawn Lynch restructures

Wed, 21 Mar 2018 05:32:16 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch restructured his contract Saturday, March 17, and its base value is worth $5.5 million with $4.5 million guaranteed. He can earn up to $9.25 million with incentives.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch had moments last season, but the team just added Doug Martin. The two offset each other to a degree, and Lynch is an RB3 in fantasy with minimal upside since he doesn't catch a lot of passes.

Sat, 17 Mar 2018 14:07:48 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will receive his $1 million bonus Sunday, March 18, and will remain with the team, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch likely will continue to be the starting running back for the Raiders but could lose some touches to Doug Martin. Lynch can be at least a No. 3 running back in standard leagues in 2018.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch staying put

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 12:46:44 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will not be released despite the addition of RB Doug Martin.

Fantasy Tip: Oakland's backfield is somewhat of a conundrum with Martin now. He and Lynch figure to be in on the first two downs with Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington splitting time on passing downs. Lynch remains the most valuable fantasy back, but his ceiling is obviously lowered with Martin. Don't draft Lynch as more than a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch, Michael Crabtree not safe

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 17:50:43 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch and WR Michael Crabtree are not guaranteed roster spots next season because the team is uncomfortable with their 2018 salaries, according to sources. Lynch is scheduled to make $4 million in salary next season with the chance to make another $4 million in bonuses. Crabtree is scheduled to make $7 million with a chance for $1.05 million in bonuses. The team may look to restructure the contracts.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation during the next few weeks to see if Lynch and Crabtree will stay with the Raiders. Lynch could be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in standard leagues if he is not released, while Crabtree could be a late-round option in drafts.

Raiders | Jon Gruden wants to work with Marshawn Lynch

Wed, 14 Feb 2018 21:39:39 -0800

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said that he doesn't know if RB Marshawn Lynch will be on the roster in the upcoming season, but added that "right now, he's our leading ball-carrier, he's our back, and we're counting on him." Gruden also mentioned: "Hopefully we get an opportunity to work together."

Fantasy Tip: Lynch is going to be entering his age-32 season in 2018, but he showed this past year that he can still be an effective and durable tailback. Playing in all but one game in his first campaign with the Raiders, Lynch tallied 891 yards on 207 carries -- good for a 4.3 yards-per-carry mark -- and logged seven touchdowns on the ground. He'll be an RB2 if his situation remains the same.

Fri, 09 Feb 2018 15:22:53 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch has met with head coach Jon Gruden on several occasions since the team hired Gruden, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch finished this season with 891 yards and seven touchdowns and could be the starting running back next season. He can be considered a low-end No. 2 running back or a No. 3 back in standard leagues next season.

Raiders | Raiders undecided on Marshawn Lynch

Wed, 24 Jan 2018 20:31:47 -0800

The Oakland Raiders are "undecided" on whether or not they will retain RB Marshawn Lynch, who has one year remaining on his contract. "I'd be doing Marshawn (Lynch) a disservice if I were to comment on what I thought of his play this previous season," said offensive coordinator Greg Olson. "Until we sit down, like I said, and do a real thorough evaluation and watching every carry that he's had and every catch opportunity to catch the football or run with the football, I really would not be making an educated comment on something like that right now."

Fantasy Tip: Although he'll be 32-years-old next season, the former Seahawk and Bill exhibited that he still has something left in the tank, rushing for 891 yards and seven touchdowns on 207 carries. In addition, his base salary in 2018 would be affordable, making him a fine option to lean on as it concerns the ground game. Lynch could once again be a valuable piece on fantasy rosters depending on his role.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch nearly reaches century mark

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 21:21:20 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch racked up 95 rushing yards on 25 carries in the team's Week 16 loss Monday, Dec. 25, opposite the Philadelphia Eagles. He also lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders' rushing attack actually lost three fumbles tonight, with Lynch being responsible for one of those. Even so, he contributed a solid effort on the ground despite not being able to get into the end zone. He'll continue serving as a serviceable RB2 in the season finale next week.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch sitting Thursday

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 12:09:18 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (non-injury) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch has been receiving a day off during the practice week over the last few weeks, so he should be ready to play in Week 15. He has recorded a touchdown in each of the last three games and has posted solid rushing numbers over the last month. He could be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option in standard leagues.

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 15:29:08 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch was likely receiving a day off and should be ready to play this week. He is coming off his first 100-yard performance of the season in Week 13 and has four touchdowns in the last four games. He can be at low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option for owners.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch goes over 100 yards

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 20:20:53 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch opened the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown in the first quarter of Week 13 against the New York Giants, and he finished with 17 runs for 101 yards and the score.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch has turned up the intensity lately, running for 67 or more yards in three straight outings while scoring in each of the past two, and three of the past four contests (four total). After a slow start to the season he is back as a legitimate low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play in most formats.

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 30, because he received a rest day, according to offensive coordinator Todd Downing.

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 12:09:59 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch (undisclosed) was not present for the media-access portion of practice Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on Lynch's status after practice to see if he is dealing with an injury. He has recorded three touchdowns over the last three games and would have a favorable matchup if he plays this week. He should be considered a No. 2 fantasy running back if he is active.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch carries 26 times

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 19:09:40 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch rushed 26 times for 67 yards and a score and caught three passes for 44 yards in a 21-14 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders talked about giving Lynch more carries, and they stuck to the plan. Lynch didn't really capitalize on his season-high 26 carries, but if the increased workload becomes the norm, it can only help Lynch's fantasy value.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch to be focal point

Sat, 25 Nov 2017 19:24:18 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will be given the ball early and often against the Denver Broncos in Week 12, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.

Fantasy Tip: No team has run the ball fewer times this year than the Raiders, so it remains to be seen if they will actually commit heavily to the run. Lynch hasn't reached 15 carries since the opener, and he will be a touchdown-dependent RB2 against the Broncos.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch scores twice

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 05:16:05 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch had 14 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins Sunday, Nov. 5. He also caught two balls for six yards.

Fantasy Tip: This was Lynch's best fantasy performance of the season, and he needed it after coming off a one-game suspension and disappointing performances. Lynch is a very skeptical RB2 because if he doesn't reach the end zone, he's not very useful in fantasy.

Raiders | Normal load for Marshawn Lynch

Fri, 03 Nov 2017 20:36:21 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch's won't have a diminished role in the offense when he returns from a one-game suspension to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, according to offensive coordinator Todd Downing.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch hasn't been doing much as the lead back, so even in his regular role, he is no more than a flex play at this point.

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 12:18:18 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was not present for the Raiders' walkthrough practice Tuesday, Oct. 31. Head coach Jack Del Rio admitted he expected Lynch to be there following the running back's one-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: We would expect Lynch to be back for real practice tomorrow, but you never know with him. Assuming he returns, he's been a relative disappointment on the field anyway. Starting him as a standard RB2 or flex is ideal.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch likely will regain his starting role but may have to share playing time with DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard. Lynch has rushed for at least 50 yards in only two games this season and should only be considered a flex option at this point.

Oakland Raiders RB DeAndre Washington and RB Jalen Richard are expected to "share the load" against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8 while RB Marshawn Lynch serves his one-game suspension, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch's suspension upheld

Tue, 24 Oct 2017 09:40:50 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch lost the appeal on his one-game suspension and will miss Week 8 versus the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch famously came off the sideline to defend quarterback Derek Carr on Thursday Night Football last week against the Kansas City Chiefs and ended up contacting a ref while doing so. He'll be eligible to return Week 9 versus the Miami Dolphins, although he has done little recently to justify a start in fantasy.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch suspended one game

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 16:15:19 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was suspended one game Friday, Oct. 20, for unsportsmanlike conduct. Lynch was ejected from the team's Week 7 game for contact with an official.

Fantasy Tip: DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will probably share work at running back in Week 8 with Lynch out. Washington probably will receive a majority of the carries, while Richard will be used more in the passing game. They will be facing a solid Buffalo Bills defense in Week 8 but could be flex options in fantasy leagues.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was ejected against the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday, Oct. 19, after making contact with an official.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch came off the bench to join an altercation and ended up grabbing and shoving an official. There is a chance he could face further suspension, and if he misses time, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard would likely split carries.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch finds some footing

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 04:19:44 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch carried 13 times for 63 yards in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he gained no yards receiving and was targeted just twice.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch's rushing yards were slightly better, but not by much, even against a weaker LA defense. He still ranks as an RB2 heading into next week, but that could be a struggle considering it's the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch finds the end zone

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 20:09:09 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch had 12 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown and one catch for 10 yards in a 30-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch has found little running room since the season opener, but his role as the lead back will keep him in the RB2 mix heading into a Week 6 matchup with a struggling Los Angeles Chargers defense.

Raiders | Big workload for Marshawn Lynch?

Sat, 07 Oct 2017 18:22:58 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch should see a "heavy dose" of carries against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, according to Eddie Paskal of Raiders.com.

Fantasy Tip: Oakland is going to try to feed Lynch, but with EJ Manuel expected to be under center, the Ravens will likely focus on slowing down the ground game. Consider Lynch a low-end RB2.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch bottled up

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 18:23:58 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch finished with nine carries for 12 yards in a 16-10 loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Denver has been tough on running backs all year, and losing Derek Carr to injury certainly didn't help matters. Assuming Carr can play in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens, Lynch should be back in the RB2 conversation.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch goes nowhere in Week 3

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 20:35:45 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch rushed six times for just 18 yards in Week 3 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch did nothing against a dominant Washington defense, and the Raiders got away from the run in the second half which kept Lynch on the sidelines with a long face and a knit hat to watch the rout on a knee. He'll have better days, trying to get it going again in Week 4 in Denver.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch finished with 12 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown and one catch for four yards in a 45-20 win over the New York Jets in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch wasn't needed much in a game that got out of hand, but he is the headliner in the Oakland backfield. He should be a high-end RB2 against Washington in Week 3.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch fined

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 07:16:02 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was fined $12,000 by the National Football League for making an obscene gesture during Week 1's game against the Tennessee Titans, according to a league source. Following one of his carries in the fourth quarter, Lynch put up both of his middle fingers.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch gained 76 rushing yards on 18 carries last week and added an 18-yard catch. He makes a viable RB2 or flex option versus most opponents and has a favorable Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets.

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 14:03:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. He also caught one pass for 16 yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch played well in his first game with the Raiders and was able to handle a heavy workload. He likely will receive a similar amount of carries each week and will be a No. 2 running back or a flex option against most opponents.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch to be eased in Week 1?

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:14:33 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch should see the bulk of carries in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, but head coach Jack Del Rio admitted recently he doesn't know what to expect from his starting running back right away.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch was one of the more polarizing high-profile players during draft season, with some owners taking him as high as the middle of the second round and others landing him in the fifth. The Raiders would probably like nothing more than for him to be their featured back, but as a 31-year-old running back with a history of back issues coming off a year away from football, the odds are stacked against Lynch holding up to a full workload. As long as he can play, however, he should be considered a high-end RB2.

Thu, 25 May 2017 06:25:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch isn't participating in organized team activities, but he has been present this week getting acquainted with teammates.

Fantasy Tip: Some rust should be expected of Lynch after a one-year hiatus and missing half of the previous season due to injury. He should still see enough volume on first and second downs to be a low-end RB2 in fantasy.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is making progress on the field and has "meshed very well" with the rest of the team, general manager Reggie McKenzie said Thursday, May 18.

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is expected to be on the field for first and second downs with the Raiders. RB DeAndre Washington, RB Jalen Richard and FB Jamize Olawale are expected to see time on third down.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch should receive most of the carries for the Raiders in 2017 and likely will not receive many targets in the passing game. He should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in most leagues but will have more value in standard leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch, now 31, has been out of the game for a full year and missed half the year due to injuries in 2015. He has an incentive-laden deal and could still reach 1,000 yards. He's a RB2 possibility in fantasy.

Raiders | Marshawn Lynch deal agreed to

Wed, 26 Apr 2017 05:29:24 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has agreed to a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders Wednesday, April 26, and the two teams have agreed to compensation, according to sources. The NFL draft compensation will be a swap of late-round picks in 2018. The deal and swap are contingent on Lynch passing a physical. The one-year deal has a $3 million base salary with a chance to earn $2 million more if he reaches 1,000 yards. The max value of the contract is $8.5 million.

Fantasy Tip: The last we saw of Beast Mode, he rushed for just 417 yards and three scores on 111 attempts in an injury-riddled 2015. He just turned 31 and could still approach the 1,000-yard plateau. However, his upside in fantasy is minimal as an aging RB2.
