Orioles | Travis Snider, Alejandro De Aza playing

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:47:04 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OFs Travis Snider and Alejandro De Aza are both in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Henderson Alvarez Friday, May 22. Snider is starting in left field and hitting fifth in the batting order, while De Aza is in right field and hitting seventh. OF Delmon Young is not starting against a right-hander.

Fantasy Tip: Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and De Aza ($2,900) have both been inconsistent offensive weapons at FantasyScore with uneven playing time in 2015. Both lefty bats have been underwhelming against right-handed pitchers, but all four of their home runs have come against that side. Playing in a pitcher-friendly venue tonight, neither should be considered anything more than dice rolls at FantasyScore.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza starting vs. Seattle

Thu, 21 May 2015 08:02:43 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza is batting eighth and playing left field against the Seattle Mariners Thursday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Thursday. However, it is worth noting he had a three-hit game in his last start Tuesday, May 19.

Orioles | Steve Pearce in LF Wednesday

Wed, 20 May 2015 12:04:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Steve Pearce is starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP Roenis Elias Wednesday, May 20. OF Alejandro De Aza is on the bench against a left-hander.

Fantasy Tip: Pearce ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has had a disappointing season up to this point, and he's only hitting .222 (4-for-18) with four RBI against left-handed pitching in 2015. Until we see more out of Pearce, he's a weak FantasyScore play.

Orioles | Delmon Young sitting Tuesday

Tue, 19 May 2015 12:00:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 19. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting barely over .200 this year has has just four hits in 26 at-bats in May (one homer, three RBI). Hitting near the bottom of the lineup also takes what little FantasyScore appeal he might have had away. It's best to avoid him tonight.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza starting against RHP

Sat, 16 May 2015 13:42:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and bat sixth in the order Saturday, May 16, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Delmon Young will be given the day off against RHP Matt Shoemaker.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting for a .240 batting average with three home runs, four walks and 22 strikeouts against righties this season. De Aza possesses some upside while batting directly behind the heart of the Orioles order, but FantasyScore owners should be looking for a more reliable and consistent option. De Aza is just 5-for-25 in his last seven games.

Orioles | Delmon Young batting sixth

Fri, 15 May 2015 12:40:03 -0700

Correcting a previous report, Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is batting sixth and playing right field against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza is playing left field Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is batting just .220 with two runs and three RBI over his last 11 games (42 plate appearances). FantasyScore players should likely aim higher, as Young projects as little more than a low-priced flier Friday.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza draws into the lineup

Fri, 15 May 2015 12:26:13 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza is batting second and playing right field against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) snapped a 12-game funk with a two-hit showing in his last game. Still, he should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier by FantasyScore players.

Orioles | Delmon Young sitting vs. Angels

Fri, 15 May 2015 12:17:44 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is not in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Young ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. It is worth noting this is the second consecutive game Young has sat against a right-handed starting pitcher. De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI in his last start, but previously, he was mired in a 5-for-41 funk. Consider him nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests Friday.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza draws in lineup

Wed, 13 May 2015 13:13:32 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza is batting second and playing right field against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, May 13.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has hit a bump in the road, and he is just 5-for-41 over his last 12 games. This will also be just his fifth start in May. Hitting second is an advantegous lineup spot for fantasy purposes, but De Aza's current form lands him squarely within low-priced flier territory for FantasyScore contests. In seasonal formats, his lack of playing time and production are only worth roster spots in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Orioles | Travis Snider receives a start

Tue, 12 May 2015 11:47:03 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Travis Snider is starting in left field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Tuesday, May 12. OF Alejandro De Aza will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) excelled against southpaws in 2014, hitting .381 (16-for-42) with two home runs against them, and he's 2-for-6 against lefties this year. On the flip side, Buehrle is allowing a slash line of .390/.419/.585 with two home runs to left-handed hitters this season. It's a perfect scenario for Snider to be a sleeper play that profits at FantasyScore tonight.
