Orioles | Alejandro De Aza gets day off

Sat, 02 May 2015 13:29:35 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza will sit out Saturday, May 2, against the Tampa Bay Rays. OF David Lough will start in left field and bat eighth in the order against Rays SP Chris Archer.

Fantasy Tip: Lough ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a career .274-hitter in 510 plate appearances against right-handers. Lough doesn't have much to offer for power or speed, but he will have the opportunity to get on base just before the dangerous top of the order comes up for the Orioles. At the minimum price on FantasyScore, Lough will make for a low-risk, high-upside option.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza leading off vs. Chicago

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 12:56:30 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza is batting leadoff and playing left field against the Chicago White Sox Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is a low-priced target for FantasyScore players due to his lineup spot in front of a number of hot hitters and facing a weak opposing pitcher. However, he is in a 2-for-22 funk, so it isn't a risk-free start.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza sitting

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 12:24:29 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 23. OF David Lough is starting in left field and hitting leadoff against Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison.

Fantasy Tip: Lough ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitless in just five at-bats this season, but he's an intriguing buy-low candidate at FantasyScore today while hitting in Baltimore's top spot in a hitter's park in Rogers Centre.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza back atop the lineup

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 14:02:06 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza is batting first and playing right field against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Left-handed batters have gone 9-for-15 against Aaron Sanchez this season, so consider De Aza ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) a nice upside bat to target at a low price in FantasyScore contests Wednesday. Just note, after a hot start to the season, De Aza has gone 2-for-19 over his last five games. He isn't worth a roster spot in the majority of seasonal leagues, either.

Orioles | Delmon Young facing lefty Tuesday

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 11:42:11 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is starting in left field and hitting fifth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays left-handed SP Mark Buehrle Tuesday, April 21. OF Alejandro De Aza is not in the lineup, while SS Everth Cabrera moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) will likely be a fixture in Baltimore's lineup when they face a lefty this year, and he has excellent history against Buehrle in his career. Young is 21-for-53 (.396) with four home runs and nine RBI off the veteran southpaw, making him a really nice FantasyScore play on the cheap Tuesday night.

Orioles | Delmon Young gets the nod Friday

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 09:28:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth in the lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Friday, April 10. OF Alejandro De Aza is not in the starting lineup Friday against a left-handed hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) becomes a pretty attractive low-priced option at FantasyScore today going up against a left-hander. Young hit .312 with five of his seven home runs against southpaws in 2014 and has notoriously been a much more productive hitter against lefties in his career. On top of that, Young has 21 hits (four home runs) in 53 career plate appearances against Buehrle.

Sat, 21 Mar 2015 06:02:09 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza has returned to the team's spring training camp after attending his grandfather's birthday in Dominican Republic.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($2,900, 5.8%) is currently slotted in as the Orioles starting left fielder. De Aza stole 17 bases last season in 142 games played, split between the Orioles and the Chicago White Sox. De Aza's power numbers dropped last season after hitting a career high 17 home runs in 2013, but he'll be a high-upside option at a low cost to begin the year.

Orioles | Alejandro De Aza considers extension

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 01:03:41 -0800

Baltimore Orioles OF Alejandro De Aza would consider a contract extension if it were offered to him. Rumors were the Orioles considered an extension for De Aza before he lost his arbitration case.

Fantasy Tip: As previously mentioned, De Aza could be worth a flyer in the later rounds of mixed fantasy leagues because of his uncertain status and the likelihood he will platoon in the outfield. His overall value is muted due to possible platoon status and a decrease in his home runs from 2013 to 2014.
