Lions | Matthew Stafford to hold workouts

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 10:13:35 -0700

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford will work out with WR Calvin Johnson and some of the other offensive players in Atlanta before the start of training camp. Stafford said the workouts would help the development of the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Stafford should have plenty of weapons to work with this season and should improve on his 2014 stats when he threw for 4,257 yards and 20 touchdowns. Stafford likely will be a solid No. 1 fantasy quarterback in most leagues this season.

Lions | Calvin Johnson has lots left in tank

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 10:15:47 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson said he still has big years ahead of him despite now being 30 years old. Johnson said he's feeling well after having a full offseason to heal after dealing with a high-ankle sprain last season. Johnson added that the offense is 100% better this year than it was last year at this time.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson still managed to surpass 1,000 yards last year despite missing three games. He also scored eight times. He hasn't played a full season since 2012, so the health is a concern. He's still dominant when he's on the field, however, and is a top-five fantasy wide receiver heading into 2015.

Lions | Big year expected from Calvin Johnson

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 11:16:00 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson should be very productive in his second year under offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, according to WR Lance Moore. "It's going to be pretty crazy, a second year in this offense," Moore said. "I'm trying to help him with a few little things route-wise that I think can help him a whole lot and make his job a lot easier out there."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson did see a drop in his receiving yards this past season, but he was only able to play in 13 regular season games. Johnson is one of the top fantasy wide receivers when he is healthy and likely will be one of the first receivers taken in drafts this season.

Lions | Calvin Johnson returns to practice

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 12:19:25 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (personal) returned to organized team activities Monday, June 8, after missing practice last week for personal reasons.

Fantasy Tip: Keep in mind that OTAs are voluntary, so missing those isn't as serious as missing minicamp or training camp. Johnson should be good to go for the aforementioned camps and is a candidate for the top fantasy wide receiver in 2015.

Lions | Calvin Johnson sitting out

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 09:21:47 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is out of practice Thursday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: Megatron said he planned to rest this offseason to get his body right after a high ankle sprain plagued him late last year. He is starting to pile up the mileage, but he's still in the elite WR1 tier. The upside is starting to trend downwards for the soon-to-be 30-year-old, though.

Lions | Calvin Johnson to avoid surgery

Mon, 02 Feb 2015 10:40:07 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) will not require surgery for a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 3, he said prior to the NFL Honors ceremony Saturday, Jan. 31. Johnson says he will be taking the time to strengthen the problematic areas.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson plans on spending the offseason resting and trying to "get his body right." He missed several weeks last year with the injury, but look for him to remain a WR1 for the 2015 season.

Giants | Odell Beckham named to Pro Bowl

Wed, 07 Jan 2015 10:39:40 -0800

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. was named to the Pro Bowl Wednesday, Jan. 7, replacing Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham had an outstanding rookie season in 2014, and will likely be overvalued in 2015 fantasy drafts. It would not be a surprise to see him selected in the first round of drafts next fall.

Lions | Calvin Johnson probable against Cowboys

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 13:51:11 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Jan. 2, and is probable for the team's wild-card playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,700; 15.4% of cap) is fine to play against the Cowboys. He should seriously be considered as one of your wideouts at FantasyScore. The last time he played Dallas last year, Megatron went for over 300 yards and a TD.

Lions | Calvin Johnson to face Brandon Carr

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 13:20:39 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is expected to be covered by Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr in the wild-card playoff game Sunday, Jan. 4. The last time the two faced off last year, Johnson had 14 catches for 329 yards and a touchdown. Carr was often left on an island against Johnson last year, when QB Matthew Stafford threw for 488 yards. Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said the Cowboys will make Johnson more of a focal point in their game plan this time around. "I think we're going to be able to maybe give (Carr) more help than we did," Marinelli said. "And I feel like Brandon is a terrific corner and he's up for this challenge, but as a staff we've got to find ways to help him."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,700; 15.4% of cap) remains one of the best receivers in the game, so there is no reason why you shouldn't consider starting him at FantasyScore this weekend against the Cowboys.

Lions | Calvin Johnson a full participant

Thu, 01 Jan 2015 13:06:55 -0800

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,700) will be good to go against a tough Dallas Cowboys pass defense. He could still be a good option on FantasyScore in what might very well be a high scoring contest.
