Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) was used as a decoy for the most part in Week 4 Sunday, Sept. 28. He caught the only two passes he was targeted in for 12 yards and laughed when he was asked if he was close to 90 percent health. He rarely played on back-to-back plays in Sunday's game and had a noticeable limp.
Fantasy Tip: He's expected to continue playing through the injury and remains a must-start in most formats.

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) was walking with a noticeable limp after the Week 4 game against the New York Jets. Johnson said Sunday, Sept. 28, that he wasn't close to the 90 percent healthy level head coach Jim Caldwell suggested, although Johnson would not estimate a number.
Sun, 28 Sep 2014 13:18:09 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) was active in Week 4 against the New York Jets, but he managed just two catches for 12 yards. It was a career low in yardage in a Lions victory. Detroit lost the previous six times he was held under 20 receiving yards.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson was obviously not 100 percent, and hurt many fantasy owners in this one. He'll have a whole week to get well, but check back Friday when the official injury report comes out to get a better idea for his status in Week 5.
Sun, 28 Sep 2014 08:41:48 -0700

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 20:32:15 -0700
Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) appears to be trending toward playing in the Week 4 game against the New York Jets after a limited practice Friday, Sept. 26. "It was good to see him moving around a little bit," quarterback Matthew Stafford said.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson is facing the league's No. 2 ranked defense, so the matchups isn't great even if he is able to play. With the tough matchup and injury, Johnson is a risky play in FantasyScore at $8900 (or 17.8 percent of the salary cap) even if he is active.
Fri, 26 Sep 2014 14:16:38 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is questionable for the team's Week 4 game.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson is the most expensive wide receiver on the board with a cost of $8,900 (17.80% of cap) in FantasyScore. With his status not being known, and the potential that he could be limited, its probably best to avoid him this week.
Fri, 26 Sep 2014 08:22:22 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) returned to practice Friday, Sept. 26.
Fantasy Tip: This doesn't necessarily guarantee that he'll play in Week 3, but it doesn't hurt that he's back on the field. We'll let you know when his official injury designation comes in.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:20:21 -0700
New York Jets CB Antonio Allen will match up against Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson in Week 4, and the converted safety wants to hold him to zero catches. Allen was thrown at 16 times and allowed 10 catches for 104 yards in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears while mostly working against WR Alshon Jeffery.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson is a strong play against the Jets and Allen, who should be targeted often again. However, check back tomorrow to see Johnson's status. He's been dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in Week 3.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:06:44 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson's (ankle) status for Week 4 against the New York Jets is unknown after he missed his second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 25. Johnson said Wednesday, Sept. 24, that he would be fine for Sunday, Sept. 28. The Lions would likely look for WRs Corey Fuller and Ryan Broyles to step up Sunday if Johnson can't play.
Fantasy Tip: This is becoming a bigger concern for Johnson and his owners. It still seems doubtful that Megatron will miss the game against the Jets, but you have to plan now for that possibility, or the fact that he might be limited. It makes his top price for wideouts of $8,900 (17.8% of cap) at FantasyScore less appealing.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 11:51:17 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.
Fantasy Tip: It was the second straight missed practice for Johnson this week, and something that will have to be monitored heading into the weekend. Johnson would cost $8,900 in FantasyScore, and it is tough to think he will live up to those expectations at this point even if he is on the field.
Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:35:55 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 24, but he insists that he'll play in Week 4 against the New York Jets. It was his first missed practice of the season, and it looks like he's hurting more than he's letting on.
Fantasy Tip: This is an injury worth watching, but it won't keep Megatron out of action against the Jets. With a weak New York secondary, look for Johnson to have a big game, unless his ankle slows him down considerably.
Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:07:41 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is licking his chops as he prepares to face the New York Jets in Week 4. "Single coverage high" is the scheme that New York used often against the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, and it led to big games for those teams' receivers. The Jets have been thin at cornerback due to injuries early this year. Johnson is fourth in the league in receiving yards (329) this year, and he has five catches and two touchdowns of 20 yards or more. If the Jets decide to double team Johnson, WR Golden Tate, who has 16 catches for 201 yards, could benefit. Johnson expects the Jets to play him man to man, because they love to blitz.
Fantasy Tip: Megatron is the most expensive receiver at FantasyScore this week ($8,900; 17.8% of cap), but he may still be a valuable option against the Jets, especially after a down week in Week 3.
Fri, 19 Sep 2014 09:26:19 -0700
Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford hasn't been forcing the ball to WR Calvin Johnson, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell said the fact that Stafford has targeted Johnson 24 times, way more than any other receiver on the team, just shows that the team wants to get the ball to their best weapons as often as possible. "I think if it hadn't been for the interception (Stafford threw Sunday), nobody would even say a word about whether or not they think that he's forcing the ball to Calvin," Caldwell continued. "And that was on a deep post pattern, and really he had exactly what we were looking for, you can see Calvin starting to run by both guys, and (Matthew) just had to get it out there a little bit more. That was the only issue."
Fantasy Tip: Johnson owners won't mind the fact that he's the most targeted receiver on the team, as expected. Johnson is the highest-priced receiver at FantasyScore this week at $8,800, but he has a great matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Mon, 08 Sep 2014 17:42:11 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson has already gone over 100 yards receiving in the Week 1 game against the New York Giants, his 40th career game over the century mark. He is the third fastest in NFL history to 40 career 100-yard games (107 games).
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners are loving life, as Johnson has five grabs for 131 yards and two touchdowns (67, 16) through the first 30 minutes.

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (finger, knee) has practiced all week and said his body "feels good" entering Week 1. He said he expects to practice regularly this season after missing a lot of practice time due to injuries in 2013. Johnson had finger and knee surgeries in the offseason.

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (finger) has a fabricated splint to wear on his previously injured finger for protective purposes only. Johnson had surgery on the finger after last season, but it's unclear how often he plans to wear the splint. Johnson hasn't shown any ill effects from his finger or knee in training camp, where he has consistently beaten the team's cornerbacks in practice.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson is easily the league's best receiver, and he should come off the board as the first receiver in the first round. He routinely goes around the middle of the first round, especially in PPR leagues.
Sat, 09 Aug 2014 15:43:19 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson will not play in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 9.

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 07:03:14 -0700

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 17:19:19 -0700
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is taking part in fewer reps in training camp this year than in years past and said he is trying to be smarter about his approach to practice with the goal of staying healthy the entire season. "I'm older now," Johnson said. "I'm not diving for the balls anymore (in practice). Coach Caldwell has a big emphasis about us staying off the ground. I'm not playing every play in practice but they're working me in. I'm out here trying to get my extra running in after (practice) so I can keep my wind up."
Fantasy Tip: Anything that Johnson can do to avoid the nagging injuries that forced him to miss time down the stretch last season is a good thing for fantasy owners. He should be the first WR off the board in any format.

The Lions don't have anything to play for in Week 17, so opening up Megatron to further injury doesn't seem like a smart idea.
