San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy has been informed that he will return to the team next season, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: McCoy's return means the team should have a similar offense next season that they did in 2015. There may also be a decent chance that Antonio Gates will re-sign this offseason since McCoy is staying. Philip Rivers likely will be a low-end No. 1 or solid No. 2 quarterback in most leagues. Most of the other skill players will be middle- to late-round options in a majority of leagues.

Contrary to a previous report, San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy is likely to be retained after the season. Chargers decision-makers have analyzed their comfort level with McCoy at the helm, exploring it thoroughly, careful not to make a knee-jerk reaction. It is believed the process reiterated their continued confidence in him.

San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead (ankle, leg) is healthy, according to head coach Mike McCoy. "He looks the way (he did) the snap before he went down (in Week 3)," McCoy said Monday, June 8.
Fantasy Tip: Woodhead is worth a late-round flier on draft day, but he’ll have plenty of competition for touches in the San Diego backfield with Melvin Gordon, Branden Oliver and Donald Brown in the mix.

The San Diego Chargers ran just 20 times for 42 yards in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars for a measly 2.1 yards per carry. After four games this year, they are the second-worst running team in the league, and they host the New York Jets, the stingiest run defense, in Week 5. "The big thing is the running game. It's nowhere where it needs to be," head coach Mike McCoy said. "There's no excuses about it. We're not running it well enough. We're not blocking well enough. Whatever we're running isn't working. We've got to figure out as coaches and players how to get it done." RB Ryan Mathews (knee) is out indefinitely and RB Danny Woodhead (leg) is out for the season.
Fantasy Tip: Against a weak Jags defense, Brown was a popular play at FantasyScore last week, and he disappointed. Both Brown ($5,300; 10.6% of cap) and Branden Oliver ($3,000) aren't great options against the strong defensive front of the Jets.

San Diego Chargers OG Johnnie Troutman has been benched for Week 14. Troutman had a penalty late in the Week 13 game that head coach Mike McCoy called "critical and unacceptable." OT King Dunlap (neck) returns to left tackle, OT D.J. Fluker moves to right tackle, OT Jeromey Clary moves to right guard and OG Chad Rinehart moves to left guard.
