The New York Jets are expected to name their next general manager by Thursday, Jan. 17. Pittsburgh Steelers director of football operations and business administration Omar Khan, Seattle Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik and Jets assistant general manager Scott Cohen are believed to be the finalists. Former Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo has not been contacted for a second interview.

Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said he was amused by a report that he will retire in the offseason. However, Angelo added the thought does cross his mind at times. "When you get to a point in your career, the thought is always going to come up," Angelo said. "I've been in the league a long time. I enjoy what I do very much. I've been very fortunate. I work with a great organization, great people. I still want to make a run at this."

The Chicago Bears and RB Matt Forte's agent are no longer in talks regarding a contract extension. "Right now our focus is going to be on the season," general manager Jerry Angelo said during a radio interview. Angelo called it a "mutual understanding" that there would be no more talks for now.

Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo has called Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti to apologize for not calling league officials Thursday, April 28, to confirm a trade during the NFL Draft. In not doing so, the Bears killed the deal and caused Baltimore's 10-minute time limit to expire for the 26th overall pick. The Kansas City Chiefs then jumped in and made its pick, knocking the Ravens to draft 27th overall.
