San Diego Chargers WR Jacoby Jones isn't relying on his previous success with the Baltimore Ravens as he gets set for his first preseason game with the Chargers Thursday, Aug. 13. "I just want to get out there and play my role. Whatever I've got to bring to the table, I'm going to bring it. Whenever they call my name to make a play, I'll make it. And I've got my first celebration planned. I always have them ready. I've been thinking about them from the day I signed," said Jones.
Fantasy Tip: Jones received just 18 targets in 16 games last season, after four straight years of at least 30 receptions. Jones will usually be nothing more than a desperation play in GPP tournaments on FantasyScore.
Tue, 04 Aug 2015 14:32:45 -0700
San Diego Chargers WR Jacoby Jones said he feels faster after shedding nine pounds this offseason, going from 220 pounds to 211 pounds.
Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:48:34 -0800
San Diego Chargers WR Jacoby Jones will primarily serve as the team's kick returner in 2015, but he can also serve a complementary role in the receiving game. The Chargers averaged just 22.2 yards per kick return in 2014 (ranked 22nd in the league) and 8.8 yards per punt return (No. 16 in the league). Jones averaged 10.1 yards per punt return and 27.4 yards per kick return for the Baltimore Ravens in 2014. Jones' signing will allow WRs Keenan Allen and Eddie Royal to focus on receiving duties. The signing could also mean that SD could move on from Royal, who will be an unrestricted free agent next week.
Fantasy Tip: Jones had just nine catches for 131 yards and no touchdowns in Baltimore last year, so he shouldn't be on the radar of any fantasy football owners in 2015. However, his presence in SD could make their defense/special teams unit a bit more attractive.

Free-agent WR Jacoby Jones (Ravens) signed a two-year contract with the San Diego Chargers Friday, March 6, per a league source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: After coming off a season that saw Jones only record nine catches, it is tough to think that he will have much of an impact in 2015 other than on special teams.
Wed, 04 Mar 2015 16:22:04 -0800
Free-agent WR Jacoby Jones (Ravens) is scheduled to visit with the San Diego Chargers Wednesday, March 4.
Fantasy Tip: Jones caught only nine passes for the Ravens in 2014, so it's hard to believe he'd make much of an impact in the passing game for the Bolts in 2015 if he lands there. Jones is much better known for his special teams prowess, even though he's struggled in that arena lately, too.

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 09:31:05 -0800
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones was released Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Fantasy Tip: Jones caught only nine passes for 131 yards this season and probably will not have a big role in the passing game for his next team. Owners should not consider selecting Jones in drafts next season, because he does not have much value.

Wed, 12 Mar 2014 12:53:10 -0700
The Baltimore Ravens reached a four-year deal to re-sign WR Jacoby Jones Wednesday, March 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: Jones' main value to the Ravens is on special teams. He provides a deep threat in the passing game, but his value on a week-to-week basis is usually boom or bust. And the Ravens are surely to add another dynamic receiving threat either in free agency or through the draft.

Thu, 07 Nov 2013 11:32:27 -0800
Baltimore Ravens WR Deonte Thompson could see more action with the team moving to more three-wide receiver sets this year. He caught three passes for 24 yards in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns. "Deonte is a very good route runner. He can run all the routes outside very effectively. So, when you have a route runner, you like to get him the ball and have him make some plays for you. If people are going to play us the way they're playing us right now, you need a route runner outside to make some plays." Opponents are playing to stop the run and leaving a single high safety and man-on-man coverage on the outside. WR Marlon Brown is also seeing more snap; he was on the field for 56 of the team's 73 offensive plays last week. Brown had 15 more snaps than WR Jacoby Jones.
Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Thompson in deeper leagues if he starts being targeted more. Brown is probably the better fantasy target right now, as he's been more heavily involved in the offense all season.
Wed, 16 Oct 2013 06:24:33 -0700
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones impressed the team in his Week 6 return and will be utilized more on offense moving forward. "It was great," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "Jacoby gave us a speed element out there, and he'll probably play more and more offensively as we go forward."
Fantasy Tip: Monitor his usage, and keep him on your watch list as a bye-week fill-in for now.
Fri, 11 Oct 2013 13:34:50 -0700
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is questionable for Week 6.
Fantasy Tip: The team is encouraged with Jones' progress, but there's no telling if he'll be active Sunday. Jones is an extremely risky option for any starting lineup.
Fri, 11 Oct 2013 13:27:14 -0700
Baltimore Ravens WR Marlon Brown (thigh) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 11, and is questionable for Week 6.
Fantasy Tip: No real feel here on whether Brown will be active, but the possible returns of Jacoby Jones (knee) and Brandon Stokley (thigh) don't help his cause. The matchup against the Green Bay Packers is nice, but Brown remains a very risky option.

Wed, 09 Oct 2013 14:08:16 -0700

Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey (foot) is pessimistic about his chances of suiting up in the team's Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens Thursday, Sept. 5, due to a foot sprain. He said Monday, Sept. 2, that he was "very close" to being ready, but he's still "up in the air."
Fantasy Tip: If Bailey doesn't play, they'll be without one of their top corners and pass rushers in Von Miller. That would benefit Joe Flacco and each of his deep-threat options in the passing game, Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. Smith is a must-start for this reason, and Jones makes for a decent flex play, at least, in standard formats.
Wed, 07 Aug 2013 09:02:34 -0700
Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco is confident the team will overcome the offseason departure of WR Anquan Boldin, and loss of TE Dennis Pitta (hip) to injury. WR Jacoby Jones is expected to see plenty of opportunity on the outside with WR Torrey Smith, and Flacco mentioned WRs Tandon Doss and Deonte Thompson as candidates who could step up on the inside. "I think the one thing that Deonte gives you that you normally don't have in the middle is that speed," Flacco said. "Normally, those guys are on the outside. He gives you that speed in there. Tandon is that real strong-handed guy that can go up and make some catches for you. He's got a good feel for how to run the routes in there."
