I understand the challenges that come along with that. But why not? If I can stay healthy, and I'm having fun and playing at a high level, why wouldn't I wanna do that? The biggest challenge is physically, the maintenance, the recovery, the way you train. You gotta hope that you stay healthy, but why not?"

"Jimmy's my guy," Brees said in a sit-down interview late last month. "I want what's best for him. I want what's best for the team. Certainly there's a way that everybody can be happy coming out of this deal. But it is part of the process, and I went through something similar to this two years ago, so I get it." The Saints have eight days to work out a long-term deal with Graham, and sources expect negotiations to extend up until the deadline on July 15.

Graham led the team last year with 86 catches, 1,215 yards and 16 touchdowns. "Look at our numbers over the last eight years," Brees said. "We've had a lot of different guys in there. Jimmy's only been here four years. He's only been here half the time. We were putting up some pretty big numbers before he got here, and we've been putting up some big numbers since he's been here."

Thu, 08 May 2014 19:19:56 -0700

The New Orleans Saints selected Oregon State WR Brandin Cooks with the 20th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: Meet the new Darren Sproles-Lance Moore in N'awlins. Cooks is in a fine situation to succeed immediately with Drew Brees feeding him via throws and carries. He's ideally a WR5 for fantasy drafters but worth a reach if there's little left in the sleeper pool.

Graham could file a grievance with the league after he was franchise tagged by the team as a tight end rather than a wide receiver. And everybody will try to compare themselves to him five years from now."

Raiders | Terrelle Pryor making great strides

Wed, 09 Oct 2013 20:59:33 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor has posted a passer rating of 97.6, which ranks behind only Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan. His completion percentage of 68.3 trails only Manning, Rivers, Romo, Brees and Ryan, and he has a 72.7 completion percentage in the pocket, which is fourth-best in the NFL. "His mechanics have really improved," head coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday, Oct. 9. "He's got a good presence in the pocket, yet can get out and make plays. He's always been a great athlete, but he's getting better as a quarterback."

Fantasy Tip: Pryor has emerged as a low-end No. 1 fantasy option in most leagues of 12 or more teams. He has surprised more than any other fantasy quarterback to this point, as far as success. There are plenty who have surprised by being disappointing.

Fantasy Tip: Brees was actually on pace for close to another 400-yard passing game, and he had his two TDs in the first half. Fantasy owners might be slightly disappointed about the subpar second half by Brees' standards, but he remains one of the top fantasy options at his position heading into a Week 6 showdown against QB Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Saints | Unsure who is calling plays

Wed, 05 Jun 2013 14:59:48 -0700

Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael called the plays last year with Payton serving his year-long suspension. The offense under Carmichael put up 28.8 points per game, which was third highest in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of whether it's Payton or Carmichael calling the offensive shots, the Saints offense should be in good shape. The high-flying aerial attack led by Drew Brees is expected to continue, and they have enough options in the running game to keep defenses honest.
