The St. Louis Rams could consider naming assistant head coach Dave McGinnis or secondary coach Chuck Cecil as their new defensive coordinator. Both have extensive knowledge of the team's defensive scheme and have been defensive coordinators in the past.

The St. Louis Rams announced their full coaching staff without suspended defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and the team has elected not to replace their defensive coordinator. However, this could change before the start of the season. "I've got Dave McGinnis on staff, Chuck Cecil on staff," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "I'll remind you that the playbook that Gregg has originated in my office, so I have a pretty good feel for the defense. At this point, I don't have liberty to say who is going to make the calls and the decisions, but it'll get done and it'll get done effectively."

The Tennessee Titans fired defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil Thursday, Jan. 20, reports Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean. The Titans ranked 26th in the NFL in total defense in 2010, Cecil's second year as the head of the defensive unit. "I was pretty surprised," Cecil said. "Nothing surprises you in this business. You just have to move on. I can't be more thankful than the opportunity I was given and I'll take those things with me to my next job."

Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil was fined $40,000 by the NFL Monday, Oct. 4, for flipping off officials during the team's Week 4 game, reports The Associated Press. The league said Cecil violated their rule that prohibits use of threatening, abusive or insulting language or gestures toward game officials. Cecil apologized to the league, organization and fans during a statement Monday.

Paul Kuharsky, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans defensive backs coach Chuck Cecil pleaded guilty to reckless driving Monday, March 10. He was arrested and charged with drunken driving Sept. 16. Cecil was sentenced to 24 hours in jail and six months probation. He was fined $500 and must attend alcohol safety school, according to his attorney Roger May.
