Eagles | Brent Celek will play Sunday

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 07:35:21 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (rib) will play in Week 10's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Celek was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. However, he won't have a great deal of fantasy value as long as TE Zach Ertz is healthy.

Eagles | Brent Celek signs extension

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 10:18:40 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek signed a three-year, $13 million extension Tuesday, Jan. 26, which includes $6 million guaranteed, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles are certainly committed to using their tight ends under new head coach Doug Pederson after Zach Ertz signed a hefty extension yesterday. It's clear Philly plans to use plenty of two-tight end sets in the years to come. Celek will have his fantasy value capped because of the presence of Ertz, but it doesn't mean he can't function as a valuable backup.

Eagles | Brent Celek productive again

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 17:52:41 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek had seven catches for 79 yards in a 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: After managing just seven catches for 71 yards through the first eight games, Celek has managed 11 catches for 213 yards in his last two. As long as Mark Sanchez is under center, Celek could have value a sleeper at the tight end spot.

Eagles | Philly using more two-TE sets

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 10:33:58 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has been using more two-tight ends sets with TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek to better suit the skill set of his tight ends and RB DeMarco Murray, which has come at the expense of the wide receivers. The Eagles has emphasized "12" personnel two-tight end sets for two straight weeks and have been rewarded with 202 combined receiving yards from Ertz and Celek.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has been the much more targeted and consistent tight end for Philly over Celek ($3,000, 6.0% of cap). Both won't be bad sleeper tight end picks at all on FantasyScore if this trend continues, and that's entirely possible with Mark Sanchez expected to start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend.

Eagles | Brent Celek has 100-yard game

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 15:40:12 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek caught four passes for 134 yards, including a 60-yard catch in the first quarter, but had no touchdowns in a 20-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Celek ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has been limited as of late by fellow TE Zach Ertz in the lineup, but Celek showed signs he won't go down without a fight. Keep an eye on if Mark Sanchez plays next week, as he could target different receivers. For now, note Celek will be spotty with his production.

Eagles | Brent Celek struggles with drops

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 18:35:31 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek struggled with dropped passes Tuesday, Aug. 4. Celek oddly participated in the after-practice JUGS session, which is usually reserved for younger players.

Fantasy Tip: Celek has far less upside than third-year TE Zach Ertz entering the 2015 season. Celek is considered as the superior blocker, but Ertz talent in the passing game can't be ignored forever.

Eagles | Brent Celek should play

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 11:13:55 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (neck) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 19, and is listed as probable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Celek has not been a big factor in the team's passing game over the past month but is facing a Washington Redskins defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends over the last four games. Celek only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore and could be a cheap option for owners looking to save some money at the position.
