Orioles | Caleb Joseph not in the lineup

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 18:32:33 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Caleb Joseph is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Oakland Athletics, as C Matt Wieters starts behind the plate and hits fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has posted huge numbers lately, posting back-to-back games with three RBIs and 16 RBIs over the past 11 games. When he is starting in FantasyScore, you need to use him until he cools down.

Orioles | Matt Wieters playing first base

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 12:19:11 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is batting fifth and starting at first base against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez Saturday, Aug. 1. C Caleb Joseph will start behind the plate and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is making his third career appearance at first base and first start at the position this season. Expect him to see additional playing time there as a result of Chris Parmalee being designated for assignment recently. Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is batting .211 with one home run and five RBIs since the All-Star break.

Orioles | Matt Wieters not starting Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 13:48:06 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28, against the Atlanta Braves. C Caleb Joseph is starting instead.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) and Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) have platooned for the most part since Wieters came back from elbow surgery. This appears to be a normal night off for Wieters. Joseph is a solid FantasyScore option at this price.

Orioles | Matt Wieters has back issue

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 19:50:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (back) was sidelined against the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, July 26, with minor back stiffness, but he should play Monday, July 27, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has been struggling most of the year, and there is no reason to use him at FantasyScore until he is healthy and hitting.

Orioles | Matt Wieters sitting vs. Rays

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 08:04:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 26. C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) owns an uninspiring .642 OPS against southpaws this year, and he has really struggled since the first month of the season. The backstop has a .204/.258/.347 slash line since the beginning of May.

Orioles | Matt Wieters working at first base

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:26:16 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters has begun working at first base, and manager Buck Showalter said he is looking for ways to keep him in the lineup on days he doesn't catch.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is still working his way back into form after having elbow surgery last year. He is hitting just .234 with 12 RBI in 33 games, and he isn't worth using at FantasyScore right now. In the long run, being able to play first base while maintaining catcher eligibility should boost his value a bit in seasonal leagues.

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 17:40:03 -0700

The Baltimore Orioles are expected to make a qualifying offer to C Matt Wieters, who is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Entering play Friday, July 24, Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) was batting .260 with three home runs and 12 RBIs through 30 games, while splitting time between designated hitter and catcher. He makes a decent value play in FantasyScore.

Orioles | Matt Wieters sitting out

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:18:00 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Friday, July 24. C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has not been playing back-to-back games, so he is receiving a day off. Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting .250 in limited playing time this month and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Matt Wieters will be DH

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 13:05:00 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters will serve as the designated hitter against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Wednesday, July 22, and is batting fourth in the lineup. OF Jimmy Paredes is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) remains in the lineup even though he will not be catching. He is hitting .250 this season but has only RBI during that span and may not be the best option on FantasyScore.

Orioles | Matt Wieters grabs some pine

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 13:34:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is out of the lineup Saturday, July 11, with C Caleb Joseph behind the plate hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) doesn't have the offensive prowess for your FantasyScore lineup.
