Orioles | Matt Wieters will not start

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 10:14:53 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Sunday, Aug. 23. C Caleb Joseph will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should play in the next game or two. Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .311 with four home runs and 13 RBI this month and could be a solid starting option.

Orioles | Matt Wieters taking day off

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 12:56:17 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 19. C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate again and is hitting ninth against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has more fantasy value than most backup catchers, as he has 11 home runs and 43 RBI this season while filling in for Wieters earlier this season. However, a matchup against young flamethrower Syndergaard isn't ideal tonight.

Orioles | Matt Wieters has two hits in return

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 21:42:10 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) returned to the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 18, against the New York Mets and he finished with two hits and a run scored in four at-bats in his first action in a week.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is worth a look in FantasyScore again now that he is healthy. He made it through the game without any setbacks.

Orioles | Matt Wieters returns Tuesday

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 11:48:40 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) is back in the lineup against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Tuesday, Aug. 18. Wieters is hitting fifth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Wieters ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will avoid a trip to the DL. In his first start back after missing a handful of games, we'd suggest avoiding Wieters, especially while facing young stud deGrom.

Orioles | Matt Wieters expected back Tuesday

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:43:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) ran the bases Monday, Aug. 17, and is expected to return to the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: You'll want to double-check Wieters' ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) lineup status before returning him to your own lineups Tuesday. With him healthy, Steve Clevenger's ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) fantasy value plummets again. Check back to ensure Wieters suits up Tuesday.

Orioles | Matt Wieters still out of the lineup

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:01:59 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 17. C Steve Clevenger is batting sixth as the designated hitter, and C Caleb Joseph is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) sounds close to returning, but he could also land on the disabled list, if it is deemed he is unable to play. Check back for an update, as he is testing his hamstring Monday. Against Gray ($9,600, 19.2% of cap), Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Clevenger ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) are low-end catcher options at FanasyScore. Although, Clevenger presents significant cap relief and is hitting in a prime lineup spot.

Orioles | Matt Wieters could land on DL

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 16:36:18 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) could be placed on the disabled list if his injury hasn't improved by Monday, Aug. 17, manager Buck Showalter said.

Fantasy Tip: While Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) remains sidelined, Caleb Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should see a lot of action behind the plate and is worth considering as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore depending on the matchup.

Orioles | Matt Wieters out again Sunday

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:37:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup Sunday, Aug 16, against the Oakland Athletics. C Caleb Joseph will start behind the plate and hit ninth in the order against RHP Kendall Graveman.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is just 1-for-14 in his last four games. Before that Joseph had four consecutive multi-hit games in games he started, but he has cooled down and is too much of a risk.

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles C Matt Wieters (hamstring) said his hamstring feels better Friday, Aug. 14, and he does not believe he will need a stint on the disabled list. Wieters is available off the bench Friday, too.

Fantasy Tip: Look for Wieters ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) to return to the lineup sooner than later. He presents nice profit potential at FantasyScore due to his reasonable cap hit. Check back for updates.

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 12:41:12 -0700

Joseph ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is heating up with three doubles, three home runs and seven RBI through 24 plate appearances in August. He is worth consideration as a flier at FantasyScore Friday.
