Nationals | Ben Revere to hit leadoff

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 10:47:10 -0800

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere will be Washington's leadoff hitter this year, according to manager Dusty Baker. Revere will share time with OF Michael Taylor in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Revere's best assets to his fantasy owners are his ability to steal bases and hit for a high average. With Washington he should be able to score more runs, too, although his fantasy value is limited because of an expected platoon role in center field. If the Nats sign Yoenis Cespedes, things get even more hazy for the speedster.

Nationals | Ben Revere avoids arbitration

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 14:45:53 -0800

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere re-signed a one-year, $6.25 million contract to avoid arbitration Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Revere scores runs, hits for a plus-average and steals bases, which makes him an attractive fantasy option, especially if you went with bombers early. He is also hitting atop an excellent lineup and is in the middle of his offensive prime. Revere is a solid mid-round choice this spring.

Nationals | Ben Revere's role undetermined

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 09:10:25 -0800

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere's role on the team "remains to be seen," according to general manager Mike Rizzo. Rizzo praised Revere's defensive abilities in center field. The Nationals were in need of some more left-handed hitting, so Revere certainly fills that need.

Fantasy Tip: As of right now, the Nationals have Revere and Michael Taylor as options for center field. The Nationals like Taylor, too, so both outfielders could form some sort of platoon there. Because we don't have a clear picture on Revere's playing time yet, consider him more of a late-round option in fantasy drafts as a decent source of runs scored, stolen bases and average.

Nationals | Ben Revere joins Washington

Sat, 09 Jan 2016 05:08:00 -0800

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ben Revere was acquired by the Washington Nationals Friday, Jan. 8, in exchange for RP Drew Storen. The Nationals will also receive a player to be named later.

Fantasy Tip: Revere may have a chance to be the starting center fielder for the Nationals if they are not sold on Michael Taylor being an everyday player. Revere will help owners with his batting average and stolen bases this upcoming season and could be a late-round option in drafts.

Blue Jays | Toronto adds Drew Storen

Sat, 09 Jan 2016 05:05:57 -0800

Washington Nationals RP Drew Storen was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, Jan. 8, in exchange for OF Ben Revere and a player to be named later.

Fantasy Tip: Storen probably will receive a chance to win the closer job for the Blue Jays during spring training, so owners should monitor the situation. He likely would receive plenty of save opportunities if he wins the job and could be a solid middle-round option in most mixed leagues.

Nationals | Washington interested in Ben Revere

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 18:32:58 -0800

The Washington Nationals are reportedly interested in acquiring Toronto Blue Jays OF Ben Revere.

Fantasy Tip: Revere hit .306 with two home runs, 45 RBIs and 31 steals in 152 combined regular-season games with the Phillies and Blue Jays last year. He is a solid contributor in the runs, steals and batting average categories but offers very little power and has a relatively low on-base percentage because he doesn't walk often. Revere should be selected in the later rounds of single-universe and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Blue Jays | Ben Revere has a seat

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 08:22:03 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ben Revere is out of the lineup Thursday, Oct. 1, with OF Dalton Pompey leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Pompey ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a bright future, but his .191-2-6 line isn't exhibitive of it. He's not a real good FantasyScore option atop this lineup with the stars sitting out against Tyler Wilson.

Blue Jays | Ben Revere with rare homer

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 17:30:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ben Revere hits his first home run since Sept. 5 of last year in a 9-5 win over the New York Yankees Saturday, Sept. 12. He finished the game 2-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored.

Fantasy Tip: Revere ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) may not have much pop in in his bat, but he has plenty of speed. He is hitting .329 since joining the Blue Jays and has scored at least one run in six straight games. He is a solid mid-priced option at FantasyScore as long as he is batting atop the powerful Toronot lineup.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki dropped in order

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 07:13:28 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki is batting fifth against Detroit Tigers SP Alfredo Simon Sunday, Aug. 30. OF Ben Revere is batting first Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: There isn't a significant shift in value for Tulowitzki ($5,300, 10.6% of cap), except now he projects to have more RBI opportunities and potentially fewer chances to score runs. Revere ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is the big winner, as he'll grab an extra at-bat most games. If it is a permanent switch, Revere's value takes a huge step forward. Both batters are in play at FantasyScore Sunday.
