Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy has Friday off

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:38:10 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is out of the lineup Friday, May 6, with C Martin Maldonado hitting eighth. 1B Chris Carter moved up to hit cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Maldonado has had a miserable year and isn't worth starting. Carter has been a man possessed with five homers in the last seven days. He's a high-end start against Tim Adleman.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy, Ramon Flores out Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 07:39:57 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy and OF Ramon Flores are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Sunday, May 1. C Martin Maldonado will start behind the plate and bat eighth, while OF Kirk Niewenhuis plays center field and bats fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Maldonado is hitless through his first 14 at-bats, so he can be ignored from a fantasy standpoint. On the other hand, Nieuwenhuis has three extra-base hits and seven RBI through 34 at-bats and is positioned in a favorable spot in the batting order, so he's worth considering as a value play in daily fantasy games.

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 09:55:29 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Sunday, April 24. C Martin Maldonado will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Maldonado has gone hitless in 10 at-bats this season and should not be used in any leagues.

Brewers | Chris Carter sits

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 08:39:11 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter is out of the lineup Thursday, April 14, with C Jonathan Lucroy sliding over to first base and hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: The move is a little puzzling because lefty Jaime Garcia is on the mound. However, when you take into consideration that Lucroy has hit safely in all seven of his games and is hitting .346, it makes sense to keep him in there. Lucroy is a high-end catching option. Martin Maldonado is behind the plate, but he doesn't deserve fantasy consideration.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy off to hot start

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 01:07:49 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy has hit safely in all seven games this season, including three hits and two runs batted in Wednesday, April 13, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy is 15-for-32 against Mike Leake, the Cardinals' starting pitcher on Wednesday, but this is still an impressive stat. He is one of the top catchers in fantasy in NL and mixed leagues.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett, Jonathan Lucroy out

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 10:13:05 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett and C Jonathan Lucroy are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Sunday, April 10. C Martin Maldonado will start at catcher and is batting sixth, while SS Yadiel Rivera will start at second base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Maldonado nor Rivera have received many plate appearances this season and should be avoided in all mixed leagues. They could be used in NL-only leagues, but owners in those leagues may be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy still open to trade

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 16:09:51 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy remains open to a trade, according to sources. The Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros would make sense.

Fantasy Tip: The Texas Rangers have been linked to him this offseason, too. Lucroy is primed for a bounce-back year in 2016 after injuries sidelined him last season. Consider him a top-tier fantasy catcher that will come at a slight discount in drafts. A trade away from Milwaukee would boost his value some, too.

Astros | Houston not close to Jonathan Lucroy

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 09:10:35 -0700

The Houston Astros are not close to a deal for Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy and it's highly unlikely that one gets done soon.

Fantasy Tip: The rebuilding Brewers continue to consider dealing Lucroy, but it might not happen until around the trade deadline this summer. Lucroy remains a top-tier fantasy catcher despite his injury-riddled 2015 season.

Rangers | Texas still eyes Jonathan Lucroy

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 11:25:40 -0700

The Texas Rangers remain interested in trading for Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy, but no talks have transpired recently, according to sources. The Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics have also been interested in Lucroy.

Fantasy Tip: Despite injuries disrupting Lucroy's 2015 season, he remains a top-tier fantasy catcher in all formats, and he's in line for a bounce-back season if he's fully healthy. Milwaukee is in rebuilding mode, which might drive Lucroy's price down a bit. But if he were to land in Texas, his price may skyrocket.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy has the flu

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 09:22:30 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy (illness) has the flu bug.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy had a down year in 2015 due to injuries, but he's a prime bounce-back candidate for fantasy owners this season and is a top-tier catching asset.
