Brewers | Nothing brewing on Jonathan Lucroy

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 12:31:43 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers general manager David Stearns said Tuesday, Feb. 2, that there aren't any current trades in the works for C Jonathan Lucroy.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy has a limited no-trade clause, so he might have to waive that in order to get his wish of a trade away from a rebuilding club. Even if Lucroy stays put, disregard his injury-plagued 2015. He is an excellent rebound candidate and remains one of the top options at a thin position.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy of interest to Washington

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 12:58:38 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is a trade target of the Washington Nationals, but Washington is a team on Lucroy's no-trade list, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy registered just 415 plate appearances last season due to injuries, but he is a nice bounce-back candidate to target in the middle rounds of drafts. During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, Lucroy returned a .291/.357/.460 slash line with an average of 66 runs, 16 home runs and 76 RBI.

Brewers | All quiet on the Jonathan Lucroy front

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 12:53:19 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy has not generated enough interest in the trade market for the organization to find a trading partner to deal him.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries curbed Lucroy's 2015 season and limited him to just 415 plate appearances. Over the previous two seasons, he returned a .291/.357/.460 slash line with an average of 66 runs, 16 home runs and 76 RBI, which is solid production for a backstop. He is a mid-round target with the upside to be a top-three contributor at the catcher position entering the 2016 season.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy trying to avoid concussions

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 10:02:59 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy has added neck-strengthening drills to his offseason workouts in order to avoid another concussion like the one that ended his 2015 season early. Lucroy eventually passed the concussion protocol and said he has had no setbacks this winter. "I feel great," Lucroy said. "I feel a lot stronger than I've been in a long time."

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy had a down year by his standards in 2015, hitting .264 with only seven home runs and 43 RBI in an injury-shortened season (103 games). For that reason he'll likely come at a discount in 2016, and if he can stay healthy all year should be a great asset at the catching position. A trade to a contending club would make him even more attractive.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy prefers trade

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 14:58:07 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy would prefer to be traded to a contender entering the season. "As a competitor, I'm not OK with rebuilding; I'm not OK with losing," he said. "You don't want a player to be OK with that."

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy has a valid point, as it's hard to envision the Brewers finishing somewhere above fourth-place this season in the extremely competitive NL Central. The veteran catcher is coming off a disappointing campaign, after being limited to 103 games due to injury, but still may have something to offer after he was an All-Star just two seasons ago.

Brewers | MIL open to trading Jonathan Lucroy

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 08:22:43 -0800

The Milwaukee Brewers remain involved in trade discussions regarding C Jonathan Lucroy, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy hit just .264 with seven home runs and 43 RBIs in an injury-plagued 2015 campaign. As a result, the 29-year-old backstop's real-life and fantasy values are not at their peak, although he is a prime candidate for a bounceback season. Lucroy could fall to the middle rounds of drafts for NL-only and deep mixed leagues, making him a steal for owners who are fortunate enough to select him at that point.

Rangers | Texas after Jonathan Lucroy

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 13:42:25 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is of trade interest to the Texas Rangers, according to sources. Milwaukee would likely require a huge return to deal Lucroy, though.

Fantasy Tip: Multiple injuries derailed Lucroy's 2015 season, as he received just 415 plate appearances and was largely ineffective. His .264/.326/.391 slash line didn't return enough on his hefty cost in drafts. Looking ahead, Lucroy should be viewed as a second-tier catcher with the upside to return to elite company at the position.

Brewers | Milwaukee looking to become younger

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 14:36:35 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy and RP Francisco Rodriguez are available in the trade market because the organization seeks to become younger.

Fantasy Tip: While it seems like Rodriguez has been around forever, he'll enter his age-34 season next year, and he projects to pile on the saves per usual if given the chance. Lucroy is a potential bounce-back candidate after being limited by injuries at multiple points of the 2015 season. Stay tuned for updates on just how many moves the Brewers make this offseason.

Brewers | MIL could trade Jonathan Lucroy

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 19:02:40 -0700

The Milwaukee Brewers may wind up trading C/1B Jonathan Lucroy if the organization decides to be sellers rather than buyers this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy was slowed by multiple injuries last season, leading to a disappointing stat line of .264-7-43, following a 2014 campaign where he batted over .300 with more than 50 doubles. While his trade value may have diminished in real life due to health concerns and a down year at the plate, NL-only and deep mixed fantasy owners may be able to select him in the middle rounds of drafts next season and get a steal.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy sitting against Cubs

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:23:32 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: There are two games left in the season for Lucroy ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) to receive the starting nod, but he has only started once since Tuesday, Sept. 8, so the odds appear low he'll return to the starting lineup in either.
