Athletics | Stephen Vogt had elbow surgery

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 15:07:17 -0800

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (elbow) had surgery on his right elbow, and his recovery timetable is expected to be four to six weeks. Vogt is expected to be ready for opening day.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt had a career year as the A's starting catcher in 2015, hitting .261 with 18 home runs and 71 RBI. He'll be behind in spring training, so it's entirely possible he could open the season on the disabled list. That'll likely cause his draft stock to suffer, if ever so slightly.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 11:47:38 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Vidal Nuno Sunday, Oct. 4. C Bryan Anderson will start behind the plate and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed in FantasyScore as nothing more than a desperation source of salary cap relief.

Athletics | Josh Reddick, Stephen Vogt out

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 16:16:53 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick and C Stephen Vogt are not in the lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim left-handed SP Hector Santiago Monday, Sept. 28. OF Craig Gentry is starting in right field and batting eighth, while C Bryan Anderson is behind the plate and batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: You should look to ignore both Gentry ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Anderson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) in a pitching-friendly environment tonight on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt may catch Saturday

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 05:15:26 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (groin) is expected to start at catcher against the San Francisco Giants Saturday, Sept. 26, if he does not suffer any problems after catching Friday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) recently returned from his injury and has gone hitless in his last five games, so the injury may still be affecting him. Owners on FantasyScore may want to look for another option to use at the position.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt out vs. lefty

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 11:06:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Stephen Vogt is not in the lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Cole Hamels Thursday, Sept. 24. C Carson Blair is doing the catching and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Forget about using Blair ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) on FantasyScore. He has only four hits (one home run) in 28 at-bast with the A's this year.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt close to catching?

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 18:52:06 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (groin) could return to catching during this weekend's series against the San Francisco Giants, according to manager Bob Melvin. However, he added that it's up to Vogt when he feels ready to resume playing behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is making his return to the field as a first baseman Wednesday, Sept. 23, and is 0-for-3 since suffering the groin injury Sept. 6. He should be avoided in FantasyScore for now, so that he can prove that he is both healthy and effective.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt playing the field

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 16:01:01 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (groin) is playing first base and batting fifth against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis. It is the first time Vogt has played the field since suffering a groin injury Sunday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) checks out as a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore play Wednesday. He has limped through the second half offensively with a .233/.290/.391 slash line, but he owns the upside to reward, especially in a non-intimidating matchup.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt still hopes to return

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 15:22:38 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (groin) said he's "feeling good" and still wants to catch again this season.

Fantasy Tip: You shouldn't feel compelled to hold onto Vogt ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) anywhere since it's not a sure thing that he'll return to play again this year. With Josh Phegley (concussion) also injured, you should stay away from all Oakland catchers.

Athletics | Stehpen Vogt returns

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 10:18:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (groin) will serve as the designated hitter against Houston Texas SP Collin McHugh Sunday, Sept. 20, and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,000% of cap) has not played since Sept. 6, because of the injury but is back in the lineup. Owners may want to see him play in a game or two before consider in a starting option.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt remains out

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 13:41:14 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt (groin) is out of the lineup Saturday, Sept. 19, with C Carson Blair hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Blair ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is off to a 2-for-12 (.125) start to his career and isn't a good option on FantasyScore against Scott Kazmir.
