He mixed it in during his first Grapefruit League spring start against the Atlanta Braves Saturday, March 1. "Just keep throwing it and throwing it and throwing it is all you can do, because it's such a feel pitch that throwing it is the only way you're going to get better at throwing the pitch," Zimmermann said.

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg will receive the first start after the All-Star break and will be followed by SPs Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmermann and Dan Haren. The team is hoping SP Ross Detwiler (back) will be able to make the fifth start but will use SP Taylor Jordan if Detwiler is not ready.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said he will recommend to San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy that SP Jordan Zimmermann (neck) should not pitch in the All-Star Game because of some issues with the soft tissue in his neck. Johnson said he does not think Zimmermann will need to go on the disabled list and believes rest and medication will help him get past the issues.
