Nationals | Jordan Zimmermann stingy vs. Braves

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 20:24:15 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann struck out six batters over 7 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing just six hits and no walks during the Nationals' 6-1 win over the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmermann ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) hasn't allowed a run over his past two starts, and his ERA is down to 3.16 for the season. He is an excellent No. 2 starter in seasonal formats, and while in a groove, FantasyScore players can turn to him with confidence. Just note, he isn't a high-strikeout arm consistently, so there is an upside hit there.

Nationals | Jordan Zimmermann beat up for six against

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 05:53:17 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann allowed six earned runs on nine hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings during the Nationals' 8-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, June 12. Zimmermann fanned four batters in the start.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last two starts, Zimmermann ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has allowed 10 earned runs through 8 1/3 innings with seven punchouts. He remains a solid No. 2 starter in all fantasy formats, and with a pedestrian Tampa Bay Rays' offense on deck for his next start, look for a bounce-back showing. Still, Zimmermann shouldn't be confused with the high-end fantasy hurler we saw in 2014 (2.66 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 8.2 K/9).

Nationals | Two pitchers may walk via free agency

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 04:31:58 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann and SP Stephen Strasburg may be allowed to leave the team via free agency. Because both pitchers received Tommy John surgery in the past, a risk of re-injury rises after around 400-600 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Both pitchers are still worth drafting in higher rounds of NL and mixed leagues for now. The Nationals are gambling down the road the pitchers may be more ineffective, but the current Nationals rotation may be one of the best baseball has seen in years.

Nationals | Extension unlikely for Jordan Zimmermann

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 14:41:19 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann, who said he won't talk contract extension during the regular season, said it doesn't look good for him to reach a long-term deal with the team before now and opening day. It's believed that there haven't been substantive contract talks between the two sides to this point. Zimmermann is eligible for free agency this winter, and the team may have moved on after the signed SP Max Scherzer to a team-record $210 million deal this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmermann ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is having a fine spring in what is shaping up to be a contract year for him. With one of baseball's best lineups behind him, Zimmermann is truly a fantasy ace and consistently worth considering at FantasyScore.

Nationals | Jordan Zimmermann open to new deal

Sat, 21 Feb 2015 07:10:49 -0800

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann said he is open to negotiating a new contract during spring training but will not have any negotiations during the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmermann posted solid numbers last season and will be part of one of the better starting rotations in the league. Zimmermann likely will be selected in one of the earlier rounds of drafts this season.
