Athletics | Sean Doolittle scheduled for sim game

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 15:53:57 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) said he will throw a simulated game Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has only pitched a single inning this season, but he could return to the vacated closer role before the end of the year. Continue to monitor his recovery and check back for updates. He is worth stashing in all formats if you have the room, but especially if you're chasing saves.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle throws 31

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 05:47:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics Sean Doolittle (shoulder) threw 31 pitches during a bullpen session Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has thrown just one inning in the majors this season and just five innings across three minor league levels. Doolittle will have an excellent opportunity to reclaim the closer's job if he's able to return this season, but that is far from a guarantee at this point.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle to throw Saturday

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 18:47:18 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) played catch Friday, July 31, and is expected to throw his second bullpen session in the span of three days Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: It is uncertain whether Doolittle will replace Edward Mujica as the A's closer when he returns to action. If all goes well Saturday, he could begin a minor league rehab assignment shortly thereafter.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle throws bullpen

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 17:01:30 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) threw his first bullpen session Thursday, July 30, and mixed in all his pitches while tossing 26 pitches. He said he felt good and his velocity was "definitely harder" than before.

Fantasy Tip: Time is running out this year for Doolittle to make an impact in Oakland's bullpen. There's no guarantee he could even surpass Edward Mujica as the closer after Tyler Clippard was traded away, either. Only stash Doolittle in the deepest of leagues if you're looking for saves avenues.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle to throw Thursday

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 17:07:35 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, July 30, in Oakland.

Fantasy Tip: No timetable exists for Doolittle's return and it is uncertain if he will step back into the closer's role immediately after he is activated from the disabled list. Owners in AL-only and deep mixed leagues should continue to keep him on their roster, especially if they are participating in leagues that use the holds category.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle rehab update

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 16:31:56 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) is currently throwing from a distance of 90 feet, according to manager Bob Melvin. The next step is for him to throw from a distance of 105 feet.

Fantasy Tip: There is still no timetable for Doolittle's return. Unless Tyler Clippard is traded, it will be difficult for him to receive any save opportunities during the second half of the season. Owners in AL-only and deep mixed leagues may want to continue stashing him, especially if they participate in leagues that use the holds category.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle throws again

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 14:12:18 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) threw from 75 feet Thursday, July 9, and felt fine, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle is slowly progressing, but there remains no timetable for his return. Unless the A's trade current closer Tyler Clippard at the trade deadline, it may be tough for Doolittle to return to ninth-inning duties in the second half of the season. He's worth stashing in much deeper leagues if you're desperate for saves or if you own Clippard.

Athletics | No setbacks for Sean Doolittle

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 14:33:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) felt good and did not suffer any setbacks and came out of his first throwing session Tuesday, July 7, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Doolittle's recovery and return timeline. He could enter into the closer mix when healthy, but at this point, he is nothing more than a speculative saves stash.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle plays catch

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 06:44:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) played catch Tuesday, July 7, for the first time since going on the disabled list May 28.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has an uphill climb to get back into the closing mix, but he could return soon after the All-Star break. Keep him on your watch lists.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle not throwing

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 11:11:09 -0700

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) is not yet throwing but is expected to start playing catch at the end of next week.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has no timetable for a return and won't even be guaranteed the closer's role probably whenever he does return. Of course that could become easier to attain if the A's deal Tyler Clippard at the trade deadline. For now, the best successors to the role are Evan Scribner and Drew Pomeranz.
