New York Mets manager Terry Collins said he's committed to 1B Lucas Duda at first base, regardless of the team's outfield alignment.
Fantasy Tip: The Mets' outfield is ailing right now, but Duda will remain at first base. That's bad news for Ike Davis' playing time. Andrew Brown should see a short-term increase in playing time with Juan Lagares (hamstring) headed to the DL.

Updating an earlier report, New York Mets OF Juan Lagares (hamstring) is likely headed to the disabled list due to a strained hamstring. 1B/OF Lucas Duda is likely to take over in left field, which will open up more time for 1B Ike Davis at first base.

New York Mets OF Bobby Abreu is hitting .500 at Triple-A and may be a candidate to help the team quickly now that his April 30 opt-out deadline is approaching. If Abreu is called up, speculation is either 1B Ike Davis or OF Lucas Duda could be moved.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said 1B Lucas Duda remains the team's starting first baseman despite the fact that 1B Ike Davis has started two of four games this week. 1B Josh Satin is also likely to start a game at first over the weekend. Duda is hitting .182 with two home runs and four RBIs to start the year.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins indicated 1B Ike Davis will start over 1B Lucas Duda Thursday, April 10, against the Atlanta Braves. Duda is hitting just .182 with two homers and four RBI in 22 at-bats this season, while Davis is hitting .400 with one homer and four RBI in just 10 at-bats.
Fantasy Tip: Duda appears to have fallen out of favor after having his chance to seize the opportunity, but don't drop him yet. And with left-handed pitching slated to go Friday and Sunday in the team's upcoming series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, it is Josh Satin, now Davis or Duda, who is likely to start at first base.

New York Mets 1B Ike Davis, who had a walk-off grand slam Saturday, April 5, will make the start Sunday, April 6, according to manager Terry Collins. However, he cautioned that 1B Lucas Duda, who has made three straight starts, remains the primary starter at first base.

The New York Mets are still looking to trade 1B Ike Davis, according to sources.
Fantasy Tip: If Davis is traded, Lucas Duda and Josh Satin would likely form some sort of platoon at first base. Until then, there's still some confusion on playing-time roles, even though Duda is receiving an "extended look" starting this weekend.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said the team will give 1B Lucas Duda an "extended look" at first base starting Friday, April 4, but Collins also acknowledged that 1B Ike Davis could be starting at first base as early as next week. If Duda flops in a starting role at first base, the team plans to give him another look as an outfielder. Collins said Davis will start one of the games this weekend.
"I talked to the coaches. We sat down and discussed this whole thing," Collins said. "We want to see if Lucas Duda can be the first baseman. If something happens, if he doesn't do it, or we think he doesn't play it the way we want it played, then he becomes a guy that perhaps can go to other positions. So we'll just see how it works out." The plan is to keep Davis at the major league level for now and give him occasional starts.

Updating a previous item, New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is expected to get an extended look as the first base starter, beginning Friday, April 4, over 1Bs Ike Davis and Josh Satin. Duda has started 0-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts this year, but the team doesn't face a left-handed pitcher for the next two series.
