Mets | Lucas Duda pulled, but fine

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:28:34 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) was removed from the game Wednesday, March 25, after being hit by a pitch in the back. However, he was only scheduled to play another half inning, so manager Terry Collins said he removed Duda then.

Fantasy Tip: Being lifted from the game does not appear to be injury related. Duda ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) remains a solid mid-round target in drafts after launching 30 home runs and driving in 92 RBI last season. There are platoon and batting average concerns to keep in mind, too, though. Duda's a nice target for FantasySocre players when he faces a weak right-handed pitcher, as well.

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (intercostal) will play in the spring training game Saturday, March 14, as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Duda will be playing in his first spring training game of the season and appears to be on track for the start of the regular season. Duda can be an option in the middle rounds of drafts because of his power potential.

Mets | Lucas Duda expected to play Sunday

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 21:53:06 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (intercostal) is expected to make his Grapefruit League spring debut Sunday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Lucas cranked 30 homers with 92 RBIs in 2014, and fantasy owners in standard formats will not want to forget about him in the middle rounds on draft day. He will also be a popular mid-level pick for power in FantasyScore once the season gets underway.

Mets | Lucas Duda on track to return soon

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 13:38:53 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (intercostal) is expected to be ready to play in a spring training game by the weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Duda launched 30 home runs and drove in 92 RBI last season, and he should be considered a legitimate power source worth selecting in the middle rounds of drafts. However, the potential of a platoon role and his likely low batting average are risks to keep in mind. Continue to check back for updates on his recovery and progress this spring.

Mets | Lucas Duda improving

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 10:25:58 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (intercostal) took 40 batting practice swings for the first time in more than three weeks Monday, March 9. He had resumed hitting off a tee five days ago after recovering from a strained intercostal on his left side. Manager Terry Collins is targeting Friday, March 13, for Duda's first spring game.

Fantasy Tip: Duda has his drawbacks; he's a platoon risk in New York and he can't hit for average. On the flip side, he's worth a middle-rounds pick in standard 12-team leagues for his immense power stick. Keep an eye on his injury and how it affects him this spring.

Mets | Lucas Duda return timeline

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 13:48:27 -0800

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (side) is expected to take batting practice Monday, March 9, and play in his first game of the spring Friday, March 13, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: This timeline allows ample time to shake off any rust and remove any injury concerns. Duda launched 30 home runs and drove in 92 RBI last season, and he should be viewed as legitimate power source worth selecting in the middle rounds of drafts.

Mets | Lucas Duda might start swinging soon

Sun, 01 Mar 2015 18:11:32 -0800

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (side) has refrained from swinging during the early portion of spring due to a strained intercostal muscle on his left side. However, manager Terry Collins said Sunday, March 1, that Duda is expected to begin hitting off a tee this week. He should advance to taking batting practice next week, Collins said.

Fantasy Tip: Duda swatted 30 homers with 92 RBIs in 153 games last season and he can be a cheap source of power in FantasyScore, especially when the pitching matchup is favorable. All indications are that his injury should not hinder him into the regular season.

Mets | Lucas Duda out another week

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 10:05:23 -0800

New York Mets OF Lucas Duda (oblique) will not swing for another week, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Oblique strains can typically be tricky, so it's no surprise the Mets are being cautious with Duda. Obliques aren't good news for power hitters like Duda, either, so if this is a condition that lingers, it could impact his homer stroke, at least earlier in the season. Keep an eye out on his progress.

Mets | Lucas Duda has oblique pain

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 09:42:03 -0800

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (oblique) will not swing a bat for two to three days because of mild right oblique pain. However, he did fielding drills Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Duda's injury doesn't sound serious, but oblique injuries can be tricky, so the Mets will likely play it ultra-cautious early in camp. Duda won't help you at all in BA, but he does have plenty of thump in his lumber. Platoon concerns will make him a late-round option in mixed leagues.
