Rockies | Trevor Story, Mark Reynolds out Sunday

Sun, 22 May 2016 09:47:06 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Juan Nicasio Sunday, May 22. INF Cristhian Adames will play shortstop and bat second, while INF Daniel Descalso will bat seventh and play first base. In addition, OF Carlos Gonzalez is back in the lineup, batting cleanup and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Adames is batting .300 (6-for-20) over the past month after beginning the season with just one hit in his first 18-bats, while Descalso is 3-for-6 with two RBI this year. Use them in daily fantasy lineups only if you're desperate for salary cap relief.

Rockies | DJ LeMahieu sitting vs. Cards

Thu, 19 May 2016 13:17:14 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 19. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at the keystone and batting eighth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: LeMahieu is off to a solid start with 23 runs, two home runs, 13 RBI, five stolen bases and a .301/.361/.436 slash line. There aren't many fantasy formats where he should be on the waiver wire, especially with him calling Coors Field home. Descalso doesn't move the fantasy needle outside of being a desperation flier in daily contests Thursday.

Rockies | Ben Paulsen demoted to Class AAA

Fri, 13 May 2016 14:34:14 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Ben Paulsen was optioned to Class AAA Albuquerque Friday, May 13. In a corresponding move, INF Daniel Descalso (hand) was activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Paulsen heads to the minors with a .258/.300/.379 slash line, and he should be replaced in the majority of leagues, if not all. Descalso won't receive enough playing time to make a fantasy dent, but he is a potential low-priced flier for daily contests when playing at Coors Field. With Paulsen's demotion, Mark Reynolds is locked in as the starting first baseman, and he is sporting a .337/.392/.489 slash line through 102 plate appearances this season. Reynolds is a worthy add in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Rockies | Daniel Descalso out several weeks

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 13:08:00 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B Daniel Descalso (hand) is out for several weeks due to a very small fracture in his left hand.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso was supposed to be a utility infielder and maybe fill in at shortstop from time to time, but this injury means Christhian Adames and Trevor Story will likely make the parent club. Story is worth watching as he may be the future at that position in Colorado.

Rockies | DJ LeMahieu sitting out Friday

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 17:23:57 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston Friday, Oct. 2. INF Daniel Descalso will play second base and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is only batting .213 over 178 at-bats this season and is just 2-for-17 versus San Francisco this year. He is nothing more than a source of desperation cap relief in FantasyScore.

Rockies | DJ LeMahieu out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 12:59:49 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Sunday, Sept. 20. INF Daniel Descalso will play second base and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 2-for-4 versus Shields in his career but doesn't have much upside offensively. He should be viewed strictly as a means of salary cap relief.

Rockies | No Jose Reyes Friday

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 16:49:43 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Jose Reyes remains out of the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 11. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at the 6 and is batting ninth against Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has zero offensive appeal to those on FantasyScore, and on top of it he's at the bottom of the batting order in a pitcher-friendly environment.

Rockies | No DJ LeMahieu Thursday

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 10:52:04 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 10. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at the keystone and is batting eighth against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't worth your time on FantasyScore for a second base pick, especially with him hitting near the bottom of the order in a pitcher's park Thursday.

Rockies | Jose Reyes not starting Monday

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 12:03:41 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Jose Reyes is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy Monday, Sept. 7. SS Daniel Descalso will start at shortstop and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Reyes ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .208 this season and is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Rockies | DJ LeMahieu resting up

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 16:58:34 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday, Sept. 1. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at second base and is hitting seventh against Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is purely a desperation deep sleeper on FantasyScore as a source of salary cap relief. He's hitting only .216 (32-for-148) with four home runs and 20 RBI on the year.
