Dodgers | Carlos Carrasco of interest to Dodgers

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:25:41 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is of trade interest to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: There is no indication of the severity of the Dodgers' interest, and they may just be kicking tires. Carrasco ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) would receive a nice boost moving to the National League, but fantasy owners will want to wait for an official announcement and not make any hasty decisions.

Cubs | Chicago has interest in Carlos Carrasco

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:02:11 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is drawing interest from the Chicago Cubs as they look to upgrade their starting pitching at the trade deadline. Carrasco has 140 strikeouts in 127 1/3 innings this year and is living up to his prospect hype. He's also signed through 2018 with two team options for 2019 and 2020, which makes him more attractive.

Fantasy Tip: Now that the Cubs have traded for Dan Haren, it seems unlikely that they'd also go after Carrasco ($7,200, 14.4% of cap), who is coveted by other teams, too. Carrasco could see his fantasy value boosted if he is traded to a contender. Stay tuned.

Red Sox | Boston interested in Carlos Carrasco

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:32:26 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is drawing interest from the Boston Red Sox, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) surely became even more intriguing to teams after his complete-game gem last night against the Oakland Athletics. Carrasco has been inconsistent at times, but he can be one of the most dominant, too, when he's on his game. A move to Boston probably wouldn't drastically affect his fantasy value.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco throws a gem

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:17:03 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco threw a complete-game victory over the Oakland Athletics Thursday, July 30, striking out seven while allowing two hits, a run and a walk in 103 pitches. It was the third straight complete game for the Indians rotation for the first time since 1994. Carrasco is 11-8 with a 4.03 ERA, 140 strikeouts and 27 walks in 127 1/3 innings this year.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco's ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) ERA doesn't reflect just how dominant he can be at times, and he's striking out 9.9 hitters per nine innings. He'll continue to be a strong play with the right matchups on FantasyScore, but if he's traded at the deadline, his fantasy value could even be on the rise.

Blue Jays | Toronto not pursuing Carlos Carrasco

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 07:16:45 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is no longer being pursued by the Toronto Blue Jays, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) could still be traded before the deadline after giving up just one run in a complete-game win over the Oakland Athletics last night. Despite a misleading 4.03 ERA, Carrasco has nasty stuff and is fanning 9.9 hitters per nine innings.

Blue Jays | TOR scouting wide variety of pitchers

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 12:43:44 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at several pitchers in their quest to land a starter, according to baseball sources. Pitchers mentioned include Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija, Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake, Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco, Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers, San Diego Padres SP's Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays are trying long and hard to improve their starting pitching, and other pitchers like Mat Latos and Dan Haren are also on this list. The odds of the Blue Jays landing one of these starters might be quite nice, thanks to how wide the net is.

Marlins | Indians pitchers on the block?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 09:45:39 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar could be being scouted by the Miami Marlins, according to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer. The Marlins have scouts in Cleveland.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins will lose two-thirds of their rotation, Mat Latos and Dan Haren, to free agency after the 2015 season. Pitching in the National League in spacious Marlins Park, which ranks 19th in runs scored, would benefit any pitcher and especially two with the strikeout ability of Carrasco and Salazar.

Blue Jays | Toronto unable to add Carlos Carrasco

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 16:16:07 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco was a trade target for the Toronto Blue Jays, but the two teams were not able to reach an agreement.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) could be moved before the trade deadline, but he will remain with the Indians for now. He has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his last five starts and has struck out at least five batters in his last seven starts. Carrasco is scheduled to start against the Chicago White Sox in his next outing and could be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Toronto interested in Carlos Carrasco

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 15:14:35 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays have spoken to the Cleveland Indians about SP Carlos Carrasco, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo!, Thursday, July 23.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) has a 10-7 record through 19 starts, to go with a 10.08 K/9 and a 3.94 ERA. It is expected to take quite an offer to land Carrasco via trade, but he would certainly bolster the Jays' rotation.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco flirts with no-hitter

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 19:55:40 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (10-6) allowed one run on one hit over 8 2/3 innings in a victory over the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday, July 1, with two walks and 13 strikeouts. He carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, retiring the first 19 batters before walking OF Joey Butler. However, Carrasco kept the no-hitter until allowing a single to Butler on an 0-2 count with two outs in the ninth inning. This marked the third consecutive night the Indians have carried a perfect game into the sixth inning against the Rays and if he had been successful, it would have been the first Cleveland no-hitter since 1981.

Fantasy Tip: With the win, Carrasco ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) reached double-digit victories for the first time in his major league career. He ended up throwing a career-high 124 pitches in the game, so it will be interesting to see how he bounces back in his next scheduled start against the Houston Astros next week.
