Fri, 27 May 2016 12:01:29 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) is set to make his first rehab start for Class AA Akron on Saturday, May 28.

Fantasy Tip: This is great news for Carrasco owners, as he's been out for over a month now. The talented right-hander was out to a marvelous start this season before departing his outing early on April 24. In four outings, he was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 0.95 WHIP, and should be plugged in right away as soon as he's ready to return.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco upping activity

Fri, 20 May 2016 13:21:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) felt fine after a 38-pitch simulated game Thursday, May 19, and then did fielding drills at 80% intensity. He is scheduled to pitch a three-inning simulated game Monday, May 23, and if everything goes well, he will be ready to start a minor league rehab assignment. Carrasco will also have to pass more pitcher fielding practice tests before a rehab stint, though.

Fantasy Tip: Everything is lining up for Carrasco to return close to the longer bookend of his initial timeline of four to six weeks. Continue to stash him in all fantasy formats and check back for updates as he works his way back. When healthy, he is a fringe fantasy ace who posted an impressive 2.99 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 11.2 K/9 over his 12 second-half starts last year.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco out four to six weeks

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:02:45 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring Monday, April 25. He is expected to miss four to six weeks with the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Stash Carrasco in all fantasy formats, as the budding fantasy ace flashed his upside with a 3.21 ERA with 165 strikeouts through 140 1/3 innings over his final 22 starts last season while holding opposing hitters to a .214/.266/.347 slash line. Trevor Bauer is expected to enter the rotation in Carrasco's absence, and Bauer is worth an add in deep mixed leagues given his strikeout upside. Bauer has an 8.6 K/9 during his five-year career.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco may head for DL

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 13:46:42 -0700

Updating a previous item, the Cleveland Indians have sent SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) back to Cleveland for an MRI. It appears he will go on the 15-day disabled list, although that has not been confirmed.

Fantasy Tip: The Indians may not need a fifth starter until early May, so they may go with a four-man rotation. As a previous tip indicated, Trevor Bauer could see more playing action, but T.J. House and Michael Clevinger could be in for more work as well.
