Indians | Carlos Carrasco placed on DL

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 10:36:56 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. SP Cody Anderson will fill in for Carrasco until his expected return on Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) has had a good season and is an elite strikeout pitcher in daily leagues. At that price, it's best to see how he performs when he returns before selecting him on FantasyScore. There are better alternatives to his replacement, Cody Anderson, who is in his first start after returning from a stint on the disabled list.

Indians | Cody Anderson set to start Wednesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 18:48:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Cody Anderson (oblique) will come off the 15-day disabled list to start Wednesday, Aug. 26, against the Milwaukee Brewers with SP Carlos Carrasco (shoulder) unavailable.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is being rushed back, as initially he was supposed to make a minor-league rehab start Monday. He likely will have a pitch restriction, so FantasyScore players will want to be very wary of using him.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco could land on DL

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 16:33:45 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (shoulder) could land on the disabled list as early as Wednesday, Aug. 26, even though his MRI exam didn't show any structural damage. Carrasco will be examined again Tuesday night. He may also need a cortisone shot, and the Indians want to be careful with their most consistent starter this year.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for owners of Carrasco ($8,000, 16.0% of cap), the Indians have no reason to rush him back since they aren't playing for a postseason spot this year. It could be a big loss down the stretch, but he could return to make a handful of starts. Hang onto Carrasco in all formats for the time being.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco receives good news

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 14:21:49 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco's (shoulder) MRI results came back clean. He has some bursitis in his shoulder and will receive a cortisone shot, according to manager Terry Francona.

Fantasy Tip: Cody Anderson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is being rushed back from an oblique injury to start against the Milwaukee Brewers in place of Carrasco ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) Wednesday, Aug. 26. In his first start back from the disabled list, Anderson checks out as an incredibility risky start in all fantasy formats Wednesday, especially at FantasyScore. Continue to check back for updates on Carrasco, but at this point, it doesn't sound like he'll miss substantial time.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco scratched Wednesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 13:49:20 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (shoulder) will be scratched from his start against the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, Aug. 26, due to a sore right shoulder. SP Cody Anderson (oblique) will be activated from the disabled list to make the start in Carrasco's place.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco's ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) injury is believed to be minor, and his test results were favorable. It looks like he'll be able to make his next start after being skipped. Anderson ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is a very risky play on FantasyScore in his first start back, especially since it's being rushed after he was already on the DL.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco fans 11 in pinstripes

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 05:19:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco struck out 11 batters over 6 2/3 innings while allowing a single earned run on five hits and a walk during Cleveland's 7-3 win over the New York Yankees Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) owns a 1.36 ERA with 40 punchouts over his past 39 2/3 innings. He should be viewed as a high-end pitching option in all fantasy formats while rolling, and it appears a late July mechanics tweak is really paying off the hurler. Continue to view Carrasco as an excellent start at FantasyScore, and especially in favorable matchups.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco dominant on the road

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 11:01:36 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is 7-3 with a 2.49 ERA on the road this year and is 4-1 with a 1.55 ERA in his last seven road starts. His .184 opponent's batting average on the road is the best in the majors. Carrasco allowed two runs while striking out eight in eight innings against the New York Yankees August 11. He has gone at least seven innings and has two complete games in his last four starts for an ERA of 1.36. He's also 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in his last four games against the Yankees, who he faces Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is delivering on his potential and has become a top-of-the-line starting pitcher for fantasy owners. However, he's a risk/reward start on FantasyScore tonight facing a Yankees team that can be dangerous at home.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco turning things around

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 10:27:41 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco has given up just one earned run and three hits in 19 innings in his last two starts.

Fantasy Tip: A mechanical tweak has helped Carrasco ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) be lights out in his last two starts. He's fanning 9.7 hitters per nine innings and was already attractive to FantasyScore users as a matchup play before his recent revival. The New York Yankees present a tough matchup tonight, but keep in mind that they've been blanked two of their last games.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco's delivery tweak

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 13:15:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco has been working on his delivery with pitching coach Mickey Callaway between and before his past two starts to ensure Carraso positions his lead arm higher in his throwing motion, so the Indians starter has better tilt and downward trajectory on his pitches. Carrasco has responded with consecutive complete-game showings.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) has allowed a single earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out 14 batters during the two-game stretch. The darling of the second half last season appears to be primed to have another high-end finish this year, and fantasy owners should test the buy-low waters. FantasyScore players also have a potential profit play on their hands.

Dodgers | Carlos Carrasco of interest to Dodgers

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:25:41 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is of trade interest to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: There is no indication of the severity of the Dodgers' interest, and they may just be kicking tires. Carrasco ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) would receive a nice boost moving to the National League, but fantasy owners will want to wait for an official announcement and not make any hasty decisions.
