Indians | Carlos Carrasco solid in loss

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 17:05:30 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco logged another quality start, albeit in defeat, as he fell to the Washington Nationals in his outing Wednesday, July 27. The right-hander went six innings, surrendering three runs on three hits and three walks. He also racked up five strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco unfortunately had to go against the nearly unbeatable Stephen Strasburg in this one, and although he took the loss, he was still able to log his eighth quality start in his past nine tries. At 7-4 with a 2.45 ERA on the year, owners have to be thrilled with their decision to select Carrasco on draft day.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco terrific again in win

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 16:53:04 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco improved his record to 7-3 after beating the Kansas City Royals in his start Wednesday, July 20. The right-hander twirled six shutout innings of one-hit ball, walking two and striking out six.

Fantasy Tip: Remarkably, that's now eight starts in a row in which Carrasco has allowed two earned runs or fewer, and as a result, he now owns a shiny 2.31 ERA. His strikeout rate is slightly down from past years, but other than that, the 29-year-old has been an outstanding presence in fantasy lineups all season long. He's impossible to bench right now in any format.

Indians | Poor defense dooms Carlos Carrasco

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 14:27:16 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco watched his defense commit three errors over the first five innings, including two with him on the mound, en route to an 11-7 loss versus the New York Yankees on Sunday, July 10. Carrasco was charged with five runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks in 3 2/3 frames.

Fantasy Tip: Each of the errors led to runs and put the Indians in an 11-1 hole following the top of the fifth inning. Carrasco's owners can take solace in the fact so much of the damage he incurred was unearned, because this was perhaps his worst effort since his season debut on April 6. Owners should brush off this performance and keep him active; he'll head into the All-Star break with a 5-3 record, 2.47 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 73 innings.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco tops Detroit again

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 21:52:40 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco allowed one earned run, three hits and three walks with five strikeouts over six innings in a win against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday, July 5, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco is 2-0 with a 1.02 ERA in three starts against the Tigers this season, allowing just one run in 17 2/3 innings with four walks and 14 strikeouts. Keep that in mind for DFS purposes next time the Indians face the Tigers.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco strikes out 14 in win

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 19:01:52 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco (4-2) struck out a season-high 14 batters in a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, June 30. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks over 7 1/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco has thrown four consecutive quality starts and has posted a 0.55 ERA over his last two outings. He will make his next appearance versus the Detroit Tigers Tuesday, July 5, and should be viewed as a must-start option in all fantasy formats.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco goes the distance

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 15:34:31 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco was dominant against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, June 25, allowing only four hits and a walk while striking out seven en route to his third career shutout and seventh career complete game.

Fantasy Tip: This was easily the best performance of the season from Carrasco, who never faced more than four batters in an inning. Cameron Maybin and Jose Iglesias each got to him for doubles, but that was the best Detroit could do. After firing a season-high 117 pitches in this outing, however, he could be in line for a poor start Thursday on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco very hittable in loss

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 23:22:40 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco allowed two earned runs, 10 hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over six innings in a loss Monday, June 13, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: The large hit total did very little to help fantasy owners in the WHIP category, but at least he was able to limit the damage and keep his ERA from taking a huge hit. He is still a solid fantasy option across the board, and his strikeout total was very nice.

Indians | Carlos Carrasco solid in return from DL

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 19:06:19 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco allowed three runs on nine hits over five innings in a no-decision against the Kansas City Royals Thursday, June 2, with one walk and two strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Carrasco was making his first start since coming off the disabled list due to a strained left hamstring and performed well, although his strikeout total was much lower than usual. He will make his next start against the Seattle Mariners Tuesday, June 7, and should be viewed as a viable pitching option in all fantasy formats.

Indians | Michael Clevinger sent down

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 12:00:09 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Michael Clevinger was optioned to the minor leagues Thursday, June 2, in order to make room in the rotation for SP Carlos Carrasco (hamstring), who is coming off the disabled list to start against the Kansas City Royals Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Clevinger went 0-1 with an 8.79 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 8.2 K/9 in his three starts for the Tribe. He can safely be dropped if he was being used as a fill-in in AL-only leagues. Carrasco was pitching well before his injury and should be immediately reinserted into starting lineups against a KC lineup at less than full strength.
