The Carolina Panthers have hired former NFL WR Ricky Proehl as an offensive consultant, reports ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com. Proehl will primary work with wide receivers coach Fred Graves.

Terry Bannon, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Indianapolis Colts WR Ricky Proehl will retire after the Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4. "This is it," said Proehl, who will be suiting up for his fourth Super Bowl. "I came back to this football team because I felt like this team had the best chance of getting to the Super Bowl and, luckily, I was right. This is it for me. This is my last game."

Indianapolis Colts WR Ricky Proehl (hamstring) is expected to play in Super Bowl XLI Sunday, Feb. 4, despite a hamstring injury, and if Proehl is available, he will join Cleveland Browns WR Joe Jurevicius as two players who have appeared in seven (including this year) of the last eight Super Bowls. What makes their bond so unique is that both players have represented three different teams during that span.
