Tigers | Justin Upton out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 22 May 2016 09:38:15 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Justin Upton, C James McCann and Jose Iglesias are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Sunday, May 22. OF Steven Moya will play left field and bat sixth, C Jarrod Saltalamacchia will start behind the plate and bat eighth and INF Andrew Romine will play shortstop and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Saltalamacchia is batting just .163 over the last four weeks and Romine is just 1-for-16 at the plate this year, so both players should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Moya is 7-for-19 (.368) with three extra-base hits and is worth considering as a productive means of salary cap relief in DFS.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 10 May 2016 12:51:30 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10, against the Washington Nationals. SS Andrew Romine will bat eighth against Nationals SP Joe Ross.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off for Iglesias, who played in four straight games prior to Tuesday. Romine carries no value in daily fantasy leagues, with one hit in his last 13 at-bats. Your best bet is to look elsewhere for a shortstop.

Tigers | Three Detroit regulars out

Thu, 05 May 2016 11:25:35 -0700

Detroit Tigers C James McCann, SS Jose Iglesias and OF Anthony Gose are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia is doing the catching and hitting seventh, 3B Mike Aviles is at the 6 and is batting eighth, and SS Andrew Romine is in center field and is hitting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer.

Fantasy Tip: Salty got hot with regular playing time when McCann was on the DL, but has only four hits in his last 29 at-bats (.138). He's a low-end catching option if you're looking to save salary cap space. Aviles and Romine are desperation daily picks and should be avoided.

Tigers | Miguel Cabrera out vs. Cleveland

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 07:15:05 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, April 24. SS Andrew Romine is starting at first base and batting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has been a little slow out of the gate with a .210/.300/.306 slash line through his first 70 plate appearances. Remain patient with the fantasy star, as he paced the American League with a .338 batting average in 2015. Romine should be avoided in all fantasy formats Sunday. Carrasco has allowed just eight hits and two runs through his past 14 1/3 innings, and it projects as a daunting matchup for Romine.

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Saturday, April 23. SS Andrew Romine will start at shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Romine has received only five at-bats so far this season and is not a strong fantasy option for any owners.

Tigers | Three Tigers take a seat

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 07:10:01 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias, OF Anthony Gose and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia are out of the lineup Thursday, April 14. OF Tyler Collins is hitting sixth, C Bobby Wilson is hitting seventh and SS Andrew Romine is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The trio is a combined 1-for-5 (.200) this season, and none of them provide enough upside for a DFS start. Furthermore, Jordan Zimmermann is hitting ninth in the National League park, which means the bottom of Detroit's order is even more questionable. That could affect Ian Kinsler in the leadoff spot. Kinsler is on a .355-3-8 tear and remains a daily consideration, but his RBI upside is minimal today.

Tigers | No Miguel Cabrera Friday

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 16:16:17 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Friday, Oct. 2. SS Andrew Romine is starting at first base and batting second against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: The Tigers are limiting Cabrera ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) down the stretch as he chases yet another batting title. Make sure he's in the lineup first this weekend before picking him on FantasyScore. Romine ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) should be avoided against Sale this evening.

Tigers | Ian Kinsler sitting against Rangers

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 14:36:13 -0700

Detorit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 28. SS Andrew Romine is starting at second base and batting eighth against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Kinsler ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is having a monster second half with a .335/.357/.513 slash line, and checks out as a second-tier option at second base in all fantasy formats. Romine ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) owns a .515 OPS since the All-Star break, and he is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Monday.

Tigers | Ian Kinsler sitting vs. Royals

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 07:20:57 -0700

Detroit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 20. SS Andrew Romine is starting at second base and batting second against Kansas City Royals SP Kris Medlen Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Kinsler ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. He is having a huge second half with a .349/.375/.542 slash line, 41 runs, eight home runs and 31 RBI. Romine ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) enters with a .238 slugging percentage since the All-Star break and offers little upside for FantasyScore players Sunday. The only positive is batting second in the lineup.

Tigers | Victor Martinez starts on bench

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 13:19:50 -0700

Detroit Tigers 1B Victor Martinez (illness) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 8. 3B Nick Castellanos is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez, while SS Andrew Romine draws a start at third base and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Romine ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a very weak shortstop option that shouldn't garner your attention. Castellanos ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is hitting only .218 (79-for-363) with 10 of his 15 home runs against right-handers. He's a sleeper pick against Ramirez, who has allowed at least four earned runs in three of his last six starts, which includes six homers allowed.
