Braves | Julio Teheran shuts down Mets again

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 19:59:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed five and struck out seven over eight scoreless innings in a no-decision against the New York Mets Saturday, June 25, and he has allowed a combined six hits over 17 scoreless innings in his last two starts against the Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran continued his strong season, and the only blemish is a 3-7 that can be attributed to Atlanta's lackluster offense. If he is moved to a contender before the deadline, he will become an even more attractive fantasy option, especially in DFS formats.

Braves | Julio Teheran fires one-hitter

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:11:05 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran turned in the finest effort of his career against the New York Mets Sunday, June 19, yielding only a third-inning single to OF Michael Conforto and striking out seven over a 120-pitch outing for his third win of the season and third career shutout.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran has been one of the few bright spots for the Braves this season with a 2.66 ERA after 15 outings, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last 12 starts. The 25-year-old should be one of the hotter names on the trade market this summer and is a good bet to get moved, so Atlanta may want to strike while the iron is hot and see what other teams will be willing to pay for him after this gem. Regardless of where he ends up, he should be a solid third starter at worst in fantasy.

Braves | No luck for Julio Teheran

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 20:03:45 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed three earned runs, three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over seven innings in a loss Tuesday, June 14, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran hasn't been able to buy many breaks on the skidding Braves team this season. He has a stellar 2.93 ERA overall, but just a 2-7 record to show for his efforts. Run support has been a huge problem for Teheran and his fantasy owners this season, and it struck again Tuesday.

Braves | Julio Teheran dazzles once again

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 16:24:21 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran was fantastic in his start Wednesday, June 8, against the San Diego Padres. The right-hander worked eight sharp innings, yielding two runs on five hits, including two home runs. He also struck out eight and walked just one, en route to earning his second win of the campaign.

Fantasy Tip: Where was this version of Teheran all of last season? The 25-year-old has now recorded six starts in 2016 in which he has gone at least seven innings and allowed two runs or fewer -- by comparison, he did that six times all of last year. Despite his 2-6 record, Teheran is trending towards being Atlanta's lone All-Star representative, as he now owns a desirable 2.85 ERA. Owners should keep firing him up every five days.

Braves | Julio Teheran has been good of late

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 11:26:00 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is 1-4 with a 1.74 ERA and a .178 opponent's average in his last eight starts, and that includes 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in his last two starts.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran has been solid this year with a 2.92 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 8.4 K's per nine innings, but he's been hurt from a fantasy perspective by a lack of wins and has had problems keeping the ball in the yard. In a start against the Padres at Petco Park, he's a fine option for all fantasy formats.

Braves | Julio Teheran better on the road

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 10:55:53 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is 1-1 with a 0.42 ERA and .151 opponent's average in his last three road starts. However, he's 0-2 with a 7.30 ERA in two starts at Dodgers Stadium, where he'll be pitching Friday, June 3.

Fantasy Tip: Ignore Teheran's two weak outings at Dodger Stadium in the past. Teheran allowed three earned runs in his latest outing but had allowed two runs or fewer in each of his previous six starts before that. He's going good right now and the Dodgers have been punchless at home. Start him tonight.

Braves | Julio Teheran deals with blister

Mon, 30 May 2016 07:11:42 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran (foot) said he dealt with a blister on his right foot during his start Sunday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran probably will not miss any starts because of the injury, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. He is scheduled to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in his next start and would be a risky option for owners because of the matchup.

Braves | Julio Teheran loses Sunday

Mon, 30 May 2016 00:33:50 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran gave up three runs, five hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings and fell to 1-5 overall. The Braves lost, 7-3, to the Miami Marlins on Sunday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran has played his way out of fantasy consideration in some leagues, but it's not all his fault. Sunday's performance wasn't a bad one, but the Braves are one of the worst teams in baseball and they don't give pitchers much help. Teheran was also battling a blister on his foot, and that could have hampered him. Until Teheran can put a good streak together, you may want to leave him on your bench, but Teheran does put up solid numbers. He just doesn't get the wins.

Braves | Julio Teheran outstanding again

Tue, 24 May 2016 21:26:16 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran pitched seven innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out a career-high 12, against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, May 24. He did not factor in the decision.

Fantasy Tip: After a slow start to 2016, Teheran has been outstanding. He has now allowed one earned run or fewer in each of his last six starts, posting a 0.89 ERA and 1.25 WHIP to go with 42 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings. The problem is he's 1-2 in that stretch -- only San Diego Padres SP James Shields (1.67) is getting less run support than Teheran this season. Still, those ratios and strikeouts should be enough to warrant finding a roster spot for Teheran.

Braves | Julio Teheran chugs Brewers

Tue, 24 May 2016 09:39:10 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA, a .128 opponents' batting average and 24 strikeouts to six walks in 23 innings in his last three starts against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: He's not getting the run support, but he has been decent with a 2.73 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and a 7.55 K/9 this season. Teheran is an upper-middle start at home today.
