Braves | Julio Teheran continues home dominance

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 19:28:24 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran (6-4) allowed one unearned run on seven hits over seven innings in a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, jUl 3. He walked three and struck out four.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) improved to 5-0 with a 2.04 ERA through eight starts at home this season. On the road, he is 1-4 with a 7.40 ERA in nine starts. His next start will come on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers next week, so you'll probably want to avoid using him in FantasyScore.

Braves | Julio Teheran rocked again

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 17:27:28 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed six runs on nine hits in six innings in a loss to the Atlanta Braves Saturday, June 27, and he has allowed at least six runs in five starts this season.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has struggled with consistency all year, and he has been brutal on the road. He is a risky play at FantasyScore in general, and he shouldn't even be considered away from Turner Field.

Braves | Julio Teheran tosses gem

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 19:42:50 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran allowed one hit and struck out five over seven scoreless innings to pick up the win over the New York Mets Sunday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has struggled this year, but he has delivered an occasional gem at home. He is a risky play at FantasyScore, but if you are going to roll the dice, make sure he is taking the mound at Turner Field.

Braves | Julio Teheran dominant at home

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 17:41:09 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is set to face the San Diego Padres Thursday, June 11, in an afternoon game at Turner Field. He has been solid at home, posting a 3-0 record with a 2.53 ERA and .198 opponent batting average with 28 strikeouts over 32 innings. In seven road starts he has a 1-2 record with a 6.94 ERA and an opponent batting average of 347.

Fantasy Tip: When Teheran is at home like he is Thursday afternoon, use him in FantasyScore at $5,100 (or 10.2% of cap). He seems to thrive at home, but struggles in front of the opposing fans.

Braves | Julio Teheran likes pitching at home

Thu, 21 May 2015 19:47:59 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA in four starts at Turner Field this season.

Fantasy Tip: Although Teheran ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has been impressive at home, he owns an ugly 5.88 ERA on the road where opponents are hitting .349 against him. Regardless of the reason for the disparity, Teheran only needs to be considered at FantasyScore for home starts for the time being.

Braves | Troubling trends for Julio Teheran

Sun, 10 May 2015 19:35:08 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran has a 6.23 ERA over his last five starts, and over his past 22 starts dating back to last year, he has a .271 opponent batting average and has allowed 19 home runs. Left-handed hitters are batting .373 against Teheran this year, and he has a 7.08 ERA in four road starts.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($7,400, 14.8) appeared to be maturing into an ace-caliber starter the first half of last season, but it is tough to find a silver lining with the way his numbers are trending. At his current price tag, he is too risky to use at FantasyScore.

Braves | Personal catchers for Braves?

Tue, 05 May 2015 16:15:09 -0700

Atlanta Braves Cs A.J. Pierzynski and Christian Bethancourt could be paired with SPs Shelby Miller and Julio Teheran, respectively, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. Miller has worked with Pierzynski since the two were teammates with the St. Louis Cardinals last year. Miller's start Tuesday is his ninth career start with Pierzynski catching him, and Miller had a 4.29 ERA in six games with Pierzynski catching him last year. Teheran has made eight career starts with Bethancourt as his catcher and has a 2.23 ERA in those games.

Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has seen the most of the playing time behind the plate thanks to his ridiculous start to the year, however, he's gone hitless the last two games. Pierzynski can't maintain that pace, and as soon as he starts slowing down, Bethancourt could see more of an even time split.

Braves | More fastball for Julio Teheran

Mon, 04 May 2015 19:47:48 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran pledged to use his fastball more, and he threw the pitch in 66.7 percent of his 101 pitches against the Cincinnati Reds Sunday, May 3. It was a season-high in fastball percentage for Teheran, while he threw a season-low 20.8 percent of sliders.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran was trying to mix in other pitches in his previous few starts, but he went 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in the three starts before Sunday. Some were worried that he was healthy, but he was just being too fine. The power pitcher is a solid value at $7,400 (or 14.8% of cap) in FantasyScore.

Braves | Julio Teheran struggling with selection

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 10:17:26 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran threw his fastball 49.3% of the time in his last start, and manager Fredi Gonzalez said that split is too low. Gonzalez said Teheran's command and variation of his fastball is one of his strengths. Teheran's velocity was back up to 93 mph in that start after dipping as low as 88 mph. "He manages his fastball, both sides of the plate, elevates it and sinks it and his other stuff is off the fastball," Gonzalez said. "For whatever reason in the last couple starts he's doing it the other way around. Tomorrow when he throws his side (session) he's got to get back to that: four-seam (fastball), two-seam and locate his fastball and pitch off of his fastball."

Fantasy Tip: Teheran ($7,200, 14.4% of your cap) is at a robust price and until he regains his form, he's a matchup play on FantasyScore.

Braves | Julio Teheran is healthy

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 22:26:56 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran (knee) is healthy, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. The skipper was asked about the pitcher's knee after a subpar outing Tuesday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: Teheran has coughed up 12 earned runs over the past 15 innings in his previous three outings. FantasyScore owners would do well to avoid Teheran ($7,200; 14.4% of cap) until he can get untracked and start to show more consistency.
