Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran has had his next scheduled start pushed back to Sept. 10.
Fantasy Tip: The team obviously wants to be careful with Teheran's innings total, especially if they plan to use him in the postseason.

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran is a candidate to be rested down the stretch, as he's never thrown more than 168 innings in a season. He entered his start Monday, Aug. 12, with 137 innings. However, the team isn't going strictly on an innings count for Teheran.
Fantasy Tip: Teheran could be rested by Paul Maholm (wrist), who is nearing a return from the disabled list. Until Teheran is shut down or moved to the bullpen, continue to run him out their in your lineup.

Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) could be ready to start for the big club Tuesday, June 18. He's slated to throw a bullpen Saturday, June 15.
Fantasy Tip: Pick up Beachy wherever he's available, and though he may be rusty, it's a good first matchup against the New York Mets. The Bravos will face a tough decision on who to ditch from the rotation when Beachy comes back. It's probably going to be Julio Teheran that gets the boot, but don't assume that's the definite course.

Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen said he does not want to move to the bullpen when SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) comes off the disabled list, but he admitted that the decision is out of his hands and would be fine with whatever happens.
Fantasy Tip: Julio Teheran was once considered the favorite to lose his job, but he's pitched better lately, so he might be buying himself time. It's a tough decision that will cripple the mixed-league value of whoever gets the shaft. Stay tuned.

Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in his victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, June 5. Teheran won his fourth game while allowing just one hit, walking two and striking out a career-high 11 in eight shutout innings. He threw 79 of his 107 pitches for strikes during the outing to lower his ERA to 3.30. Teheran said the key was keeping the hitters off-balance with his slider.
Fantasy Tip: It's as if Teheran is pitching lately knowing Brandon Beachy's (elbow) return is imminent. He's doing a good job of making it tough to find a spot for Beachy in the rotation. The key has been Teheran settling down on the mound and getting ahead of hitters early in counts. He appears much more comfortable with his repertoire, too. While he's hot, Teheran should be plucked off your league's waiver wire.

Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) allowed six hits and three runs in five innings with Double-A Mississippi Monday, June 3, as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Beachy will probably have a few more minor league tune-ups before the Braves consider putting him back in their starting rotation. It's unclear who will lose out as a result, but Julio Teheran could get the short straw. Beachy should be picked up in all leagues and stashed until he returns.

Atlanta Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) is scheduled to make three more minor league rehab starts, meaning he's on track to return to the rotation and start one of the games of a doubleheader against the New York Mets June 18.
Fantasy Tip: If Beachy is still on your waiver wire in a mixed league, it's time to seriously start considering picking him up and stashing him. Beachy is recovering from Tommy John surgery, though, so a loss of some command and velocity is expected. Regardless, he should find himself in the team's rotation before long. Julio Teheran, who has been pitching well of late, is in some danger of getting booted.

The Atlanta Braves will skip SP Julio Teheran's turn in the rotation. He is available out of the bullpen for the next few days and will make his next start Thursday, May 9, against the San Francisco Giants.

Atlanta Braves SP Tim Hudson will start the team's opening day game April 1 against the Philadelphia Phillies. He'll be followed in the rotation by SPs Paul Maholm, Kris Medlen, Mike Minor and Julio Teheran. Hudson hasn't started on opening day since 2008.
Fantasy Tip: Hudson's valuable traits are slowly declining, and his drop in velocity will have side effects. He's more suited for inclusion in NL only leagues as rotation depth.

The Atlanta Braves are impressed with SP Julio Teheran's modified repertoire this season, as he relies more on sinkers and an improved breaking pitch instead of the fastball-changeup mix he used in the minor leagues. Teheran is second in the Grapefruit League in strikeouts (25), is tied for first in innings (20) and is fourth in ERA (1.35). "He's really pounding the strike zone, and his two-seamer has really looked good," said SP Tim Hudson. "That's something he's been working on. He's using it to both sides of the plate. I think that's a great pitch for him because he doesn't have to be so precise with it – it's a contact pitch."
Fantasy Tip: There is excellent profit potential with this Bravos hurler after his demotion and struggles in the minors last season. He's already locked up the No. 5 rotation post, and he'll be a cheap arm in your drafts that will yield plenty of strikeout potential.
