Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson drives in five

Fri, 27 May 2016 19:28:14 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson went 4-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored in a 7-5 win over the Boston Red Sox Friday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: His average is down a bit from his MVP season last year, but Donaldson is still providing excellent numbers in the other offensive categories. Expect more big nights at the plate going forward.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson rips 11th home run

Sun, 22 May 2016 15:39:59 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson finished 1-for-4 with a solo shot against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Donaldson's home run was his second in the last three games, although he isn't exactly out of the woods yet in regards to the hitting slump that has caused his average to drop from .292 at the beginning of May to .250. The reigning AL MVP could turn it on at any time and should be expected to do so. The Blue Jays have an off-day on Monday, but Donaldson on Tuesday will face New York Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, who has yielded two home runs in 10 career at-bats against him.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson ejected Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 14:27:36 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson was ejected in the first inning Saturday, May 21, after appearing to something to home plate umpire Toby Basner as he was walking back to the dugout following a groundout to shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps he was just expressing the frustration he and his fantasy owners are feeling. Donaldson is batting .194 with two homers and three RBI in May after hitting .292 with eight home runs and 20 RBI last month. Last year's AL MVP is sure to turn it around soon and needs to remain in weekly lineups, but DFS owners and those in leagues that allow for daily start/sits might want to let Donaldson pick up the pace a bit before reinserting him back into their lineups, assuming they have decent options.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson with day off

Wed, 18 May 2016 12:49:37 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 18. OF Jimmy Paredes is starting at third base and is batting sixth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi.

Fantasy Tip: This will be Paredes' first start with his new team. He was injured to begin the year after he hit .275 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI for the Orioles in 2015. He likely peaked last year and will struggle to find playing time with Toronto unless an injury opens up a regular role. He's merely for depth in AL-only universes.

Rangers | Rougned Odor tossed after landing punch

Sun, 15 May 2016 16:13:55 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor was ejected after punching Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista during a brawl Sunday, May 15. Bautista and 3B Josh Donaldson were ejected for the same fight, along with Texas bench coach Steve Buechele. Toronto Blue Jays RP Jesse Chavez was ejected after the game resumed for hitting Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder.

Fantasy Tip: The bad blood between these teams was obvious, and there will likely be some sort of suspension for Odor and possibly others involved. Stay tuned for updates on any discipline handed down.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson collects four hits

Wed, 11 May 2016 19:11:45 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson went 4-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and a walk against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: Donaldson was just 7-for-35 (.200) with one RBI during the month of May heading into Wednesday's contest, so maybe this is a sign that he's turning things around. He's too talented to bench in seasonal leagues but daily fantasy gamers may not be able to justify spending so much salary cap money on him right now.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson has awful game

Wed, 04 May 2016 19:45:43 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson was hitless in four at-bats with two strikeouts Wednesday, May 4, against the Texas Rangers to lower his average to .282, worst since the first week of the season.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is Donaldson faces a left-handed starter Thursday, so he figures to rebound. He is 10-for-24 (.417) with two doubles, a triple, three homers, six RBIs and a 1.491 OPS against southpaws this season. So fantasy owners and DFS players, keep that in mind when setting lineups Thursday.

Blue Jays | Nagging injuries for several Jays

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 16:48:21 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson (leg), SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) and OF Michael Saunders (hamstring) are all in the lineup despite minor nagging injuries Monday, April 25. Donaldson is resting a sore left leg as the designated hitter, and Saunders returns after a three-game absence with a sore hamstring. Donaldson is expected to play through his injury but might require more time as a DH.

Fantasy Tip: Donaldson is last year's AL MVP and should remain in starting lineups in all fantasy formats. Tulo is off to a troubling .179 (12-for-67) start with 20 strikeouts, and you may want to consider benching him in traditional setups until he shows signs of life. Avoid him for now in daily contests. Saunders remains an undervalued commodity in mixed leagues while hitting in such a potent lineup on a regular basis.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak out of the lineup

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:13:04 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez Monday, April 25. 2B Darwin Barney will start at third base and is batting eighth in the lineup. 1B Edwin Encarnacion will be the first baseman, while 3B Josh Donaldson will serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Barney has gone 4-for-7 with one home run and three RBI over the last two games and could be used in some daily fantasy leagues because of his recently play.

Blue Jays | Another banner day for Josh Donaldson

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 13:01:38 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson went 3-for-4, including his American League-leading seventh homer, and finished with four RBI and two runs scored against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: Donaldson's three-run blast capped a five-run second inning, while his RBI single in the eighth wrapped up a nine-run effort for the Blue Jays. The reigning AL MVP, who also leads the AL in RBI (19), has shown no drop-off from last year and is hitting .406 at home in 2016.
