Rangers | Elvis Andrus moved up in order

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 12:30:34 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is hitting second against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) gains some daily value with a move up in the order, but he still is devoid of power and hasn't been running as much as he did earlier in his career. However, he has good marks against lefties this year (.283 with two home runs) and could be a sleeper pick that returns decent value this evening.

Rangers | Texas has struggled against Sonny Gray

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 10:01:19 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, OF Leonys Martin, 3B Adrian Beltre, 2B Rougned Odor and C Robinson Chirinos are a combined .128 (14-for-109) in their careers against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray, who they face Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: None of the players mentioned for Texas are hitting particularly well at this time, either, so it's best to stay away from them on FantasyScore this afternoon. Beltre ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), who came off the DL early the other day, is still swinging with pain in his thumb.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus out of the lineup

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 10:21:56 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Sunday, June 21. SS Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should return to the starting lineup in the next game or two. Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is batting .260 this month, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus batting fifth

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 16:35:44 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus will hit fifth in the order Thursday, June 18, against the Los Angeles Dodgers and RHP Zack Greinke.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has gone 0-for-4 in two of his past three games, and he's had just two extra-base hits in all of June. The upside just isn't there to justify taking the chance at this point.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus hitting second

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 15:25:50 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is starting Tuesday, June 16, and he will hit second in the order against the Los Angeles Dodgers and LHP Brett Anderson. 3B Joey Gallo has been dropped down to sixth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hasn't hit second in the order since May 30, against the Boston Red Sox. The move is likely due solely to the matchup, as Andrus is hitting .308 against southpaws, with two home runs and five doubles. Andrus will be a relatively safe play on FantasyScore with some upside.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus may receive some rest

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 17:04:10 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus could receive some days off if the team decides to recall 2B Rougned Odor from Class AAA Round Rock. Andrus has started 59 of the team's 60 games this season.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has struggled at the plate this season with a .235 batting average but does have two home runs and 20 RBI. Owners will need to check the lineups daily to see if Andrus will be receiving some games off in the future.

Rangers | Prince Fielder out of lineup

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 13:42:11 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is not in the starting lineup against a left-handed pitcher Wednesday, June 3. 3B Joey Gallo is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth, while SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the third spot.

Fantasy Tip: Gallo ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has impressive raw power for a youngster, as evidenced by his first major league homer in his first start last night. However, he's a big risk tonight against a dominant southpaw. Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) also shouldn't draw much confidence from daily gamers while facing Sale tonight.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus sitting vs. Red Sox

Fri, 29 May 2015 13:01:57 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox Friday, May 29. SS Hanser Alberto is batting ninth and playing shortstop Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. Alberto is making his major league debut, and while he has shown solid contact skills with Class AAA Round Rock (.303 batting average over 42 games this season), he is nothing more than a desperation play in daily contests.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus dropped in order

Wed, 20 May 2015 15:04:33 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is batting sixth against the Boston Red Sox Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) cannot gain any traction at the plate, as he is hitting just .227 this season and .224 through 18 May games. FantasyScore players should likely aim for more upside in Andrus' price range. It isn't out of the question for seasonal owners to check replacement options on the waiver wire, either.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus hitting second Tuesday

Tue, 19 May 2015 13:52:02 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is hitting second in the order Tuesday, May 19, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is hitting .304 in his last seven games, so this may explain why the Rangers are moving him up in the lineup from the sixth spot. With more scoring opportunities here, Andrus is a better option to use in daily leagues.
