Rangers | Elvis Andrus finally homers

Sat, 21 May 2016 23:18:19 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus hit his first home run of the season Saturday, May 21, in a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros. Andrus is hitting .290 and has a seven-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Don't panic too much about Andrus' lack of power, as he had a .258-7-62 line a year ago. Anbrus won't hit 30 homers in a season, but he had 154 hits and is still a decent person when it comes to hitting for average and stolen bases (25 a year ago).

Rangers | Elvis Andrus suspended one game

Tue, 17 May 2016 15:04:22 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus was suspended one game for his role in a brawl against the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, May 15. He's not appealing and will serve the suspension Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Andrus from your lineups this evening. The midrange shortstop helps mainly with average and also contributes mildly in runs and stolen bases for the Rangers. He has no home runs and 14 RBI on the season in 36 games.

Rangers | Prince Fielder sitting vs. lefty

Mon, 16 May 2016 15:32:48 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Sean Manaea Monday, May 16. 3B Adrian Beltre is the designated hitter. 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at third base and hitting ninth, while OF Ryan Rua moves to first base and is batting sixth. OF Justin Ruggiano draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting seventh. Also, SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: After a bounceback year in 2015, Fielder is hurting his fantasy owners big time with a slash line of .184/.253/.277 with just two home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games. If you have better options at first base, you should seriously consider benching Fielder for an extended period until he shows signs of life. Alberto, Rua and Ruggiano are all low-end options in daily games. Andrus gains notable value for DFS tonight, but has a limited ceiling in terms of what he can offer in terms of power and speed on a given day.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus returns Friday

Fri, 06 May 2016 13:42:22 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus (back, hamstring) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting seventh against Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann Friday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus was dealing with soreness and sat out last night. He's been very productive this year down in the order, hitting .293 with no home runs, 13 RBI and one stolen base. Andrus really only contributes in average and runs these days, though, so his ceiling is limited in daily formats.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus nursing injuries

Thu, 05 May 2016 11:34:25 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus (back, hamstring) had wraps on his back and hamstring Wednesday, May 4, and he is out of the lineup Thursday, May 5. 2B Hanser Alberto is hitting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus' injuries seem to be minor, but you should keep an eye on him to see how he responds. Alberto is hitting .118 (2-for-17) and is a daily option to avoid against Happ, who is off to a great start in 2016.

Rangers | Nomar Mazara not in lineup

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:21:06 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Jose Quintana Friday, April 22. OF Ryan Rua is starting in right field and is batting seventh, while SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Rua is a low-end deep outfield sleeper in daily contests tonight. Tonight would be the night to take a chance on Andrus, though, with the move up the lineup before Texas' big bats.

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 09:37:32 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is 10-for-20 (.500) with five RBI in his last six games.

Fantasy Tip: He's a good play if he's in the lineup against Doug Fister Wednesday.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus takes a seat

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 09:42:53 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 13. 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at shortstop and is batting eighth against Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker.

Fantasy Tip: Alberto had a hot spring but hit just .222 (22-for-99) with no home runs in 41 games for the Rangers in 2015. He's merely an option in deeper AL-only leagues and shouldn't draw much attention for daily gamers this afternoon.

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus and 1B Mitch Moreland are out of the lineup Wednesday, April 6, with SS Hanser Alberto and 1B Ryan Rua in their spots. Rua is hitting sixth and Alberto is hitting ninth against Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus will not start

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 07:29:28 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd Sunday, Aug. 23. 2B Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Alberto is hitting .247 in limited playing time this season and should not be an option in fantasy leagues.
