Rangers | Elvis Andrus will not start

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 07:29:28 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd Sunday, Aug. 23. 2B Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Alberto is hitting .247 in limited playing time this season and should not be an option in fantasy leagues.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus in line for tough night?

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 15:47:41 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus has a .194/.265/.226 triple slash line in 34 career plate appearances against Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma, who he faces Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has underwhelmed at the plate all year, and he doesn't do anything offensively that stands out. He'll continue to be a very average FantasyScore starting shortstop.

Rangers | A strong finish coming for Elvis Andrus?

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 06:48:22 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus went 2-for-4 with two runs, a double, a home run and two RBI during the Rangers 6-3 win over the San Francisco Giants Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) owns a .350/.375/.467 slash line with nine runs, nine RBI and two stolen bases over his past 15 games. He has been bumped up to the two-hole the past two games, too. Andrus stands to finish strong, especially if he sticks hitting second in the order. Seasonal owners looking for middle infield help can look to Andrus as a potential upside add.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus moves into two-hole

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:29:56 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is batting second against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has been hitting lower in the lineup, so this is a nice fantasy boost, and it improves his runs scored upside. Over his past 15 games, Andrus has a .310 batting average with six runs and eight RBI. He stands as a sneaky value play at shortstop for FantasyScore contests Thursday.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus continues to fade

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 12:04:20 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus' .624 OPS ranks 56th of 57 qualifying players with at least 350 plate appearances this year, and he's on pace for his third straight year of at least 600 at-bats and an OPS lower than .660.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) not only continues to not generate any power, but he's also only stolen nine bases and isn't a lock for 20 thefts. He certainly shouldn't be owned in shallow mixed formats, and he's a weak FantasyScore option heading into the second half.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus moved up in order

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 12:30:34 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is hitting second against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) gains some daily value with a move up in the order, but he still is devoid of power and hasn't been running as much as he did earlier in his career. However, he has good marks against lefties this year (.283 with two home runs) and could be a sleeper pick that returns decent value this evening.

Rangers | Texas has struggled against Sonny Gray

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 10:01:19 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, OF Leonys Martin, 3B Adrian Beltre, 2B Rougned Odor and C Robinson Chirinos are a combined .128 (14-for-109) in their careers against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray, who they face Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: None of the players mentioned for Texas are hitting particularly well at this time, either, so it's best to stay away from them on FantasyScore this afternoon. Beltre ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), who came off the DL early the other day, is still swinging with pain in his thumb.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus out of the lineup

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 10:21:56 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Sunday, June 21. SS Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should return to the starting lineup in the next game or two. Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is batting .260 this month, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus batting fifth

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 16:35:44 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus will hit fifth in the order Thursday, June 18, against the Los Angeles Dodgers and RHP Zack Greinke.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has gone 0-for-4 in two of his past three games, and he's had just two extra-base hits in all of June. The upside just isn't there to justify taking the chance at this point.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus hitting second

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 15:25:50 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is starting Tuesday, June 16, and he will hit second in the order against the Los Angeles Dodgers and LHP Brett Anderson. 3B Joey Gallo has been dropped down to sixth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hasn't hit second in the order since May 30, against the Boston Red Sox. The move is likely due solely to the matchup, as Andrus is hitting .308 against southpaws, with two home runs and five doubles. Andrus will be a relatively safe play on FantasyScore with some upside.
