Rangers | Elvis Andrus out Thursday

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 07:41:35 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus is out of the lineup Thursday, June 30, with SS Jurickson Profar hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Profar's playing time has dwindled of late, but his results haven't. He's 3-for-8 (.375) the last week, and he is hitting .347 in June. He's a solid midrange grab against Michael Pineda.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus enjoys Boston pitching

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 22:55:11 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus went 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, a run scored and three RBIs Saturday, June 25, against the Boston Red Sox. He has five RBIs in the first two games of the series against the Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus is enjoying his best offensive month of the season, posting a solid average with speed and plenty of runs scored. He remains a solid middle infielder option across most fantasy formats.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus, Bobby Wilson out Saturday

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 11:07:12 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, 1B Mitch Moreland and C Bobby Wilson are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Saturday, June 18. 1B/DH Prince Fielder will play first base and bat fifth, INF Jurickson Profar will bat seventh and play shortstop and C Robinson Chirinos will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Fielder is starting at first base because the game is taking place in a National League stadium, which means the DH is not in effect. Profar is batting .412 in 51 at-bats versus right-handed pitching this year and should be viewed as a viable option in all fantasy formats. Chirinos has four home runs and seven RBI in just 28 at-bats this year and makes an excellent value play in DFS.

Rangers | Big line for Elvis Andrus

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 17:55:56 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a steal in a 6-4 win over the Seattle Mariners Sunday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: With a decent average and some speed, Andrus is a serviceable starting option in most leagues.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus stuff the stat line

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 05:40:07 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus went 2-for-4 with three runs, a double, a three-run home run, three RBI and a stolen base during the Rangers' 10-4 win over the Seattle Mariners Saturday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: While offensive outbursts like the showing Saturday won't become the norm from Andrus, he has a relatively high floor and is a viable starter at the 6 in the majority of seasonal leagues. Thus far, Andrus has 24 runs, 14 extra-base hits, 21 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .298/.345/.414 slash line. Hitting in a potent lineup helps, too.

Rangers | Three Texas starters sitting

Sun, 29 May 2016 10:36:39 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, OF Jared Hoying and C Bobby Wilson are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Sunday, May 29. OF Ryan Rua will start in left field and is batting sixth. C Bryan Holaday will start at catcher and is batting eighth, while 2B Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua is hitting .429 with one home run and three RBI against left-handed pitchers and can be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Alberto and Holaday have not done much at the plate this season and probably should be avoided in most leagues.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus finally homers

Sat, 21 May 2016 23:18:19 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus hit his first home run of the season Saturday, May 21, in a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros. Andrus is hitting .290 and has a seven-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Don't panic too much about Andrus' lack of power, as he had a .258-7-62 line a year ago. Anbrus won't hit 30 homers in a season, but he had 154 hits and is still a decent person when it comes to hitting for average and stolen bases (25 a year ago).

Rangers | Elvis Andrus suspended one game

Tue, 17 May 2016 15:04:22 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus was suspended one game for his role in a brawl against the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, May 15. He's not appealing and will serve the suspension Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Andrus from your lineups this evening. The midrange shortstop helps mainly with average and also contributes mildly in runs and stolen bases for the Rangers. He has no home runs and 14 RBI on the season in 36 games.

Rangers | Prince Fielder sitting vs. lefty

Mon, 16 May 2016 15:32:48 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Sean Manaea Monday, May 16. 3B Adrian Beltre is the designated hitter. 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at third base and hitting ninth, while OF Ryan Rua moves to first base and is batting sixth. OF Justin Ruggiano draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting seventh. Also, SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: After a bounceback year in 2015, Fielder is hurting his fantasy owners big time with a slash line of .184/.253/.277 with just two home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games. If you have better options at first base, you should seriously consider benching Fielder for an extended period until he shows signs of life. Alberto, Rua and Ruggiano are all low-end options in daily games. Andrus gains notable value for DFS tonight, but has a limited ceiling in terms of what he can offer in terms of power and speed on a given day.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus returns Friday

Fri, 06 May 2016 13:42:22 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus (back, hamstring) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting seventh against Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann Friday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus was dealing with soreness and sat out last night. He's been very productive this year down in the order, hitting .293 with no home runs, 13 RBI and one stolen base. Andrus really only contributes in average and runs these days, though, so his ceiling is limited in daily formats.
