Mets | No Wilmer Flores vs. Washington

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 14:09:21 -0700

New York Mets 3B Wilmer Flores is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 29. INF/OF Kelly Johnson is starting at third base and batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Flores has started 21 games in June and owns a solid .306/.370/.444 slash line for the month with 12 RBI. He's in the deep mixed and NL-only conversation as long as he's receiving consistent playing time. While Johnson is a respectable 11-for-35 since joining the Mets, it is a daunting matchup against Scherzer, and no one should fret fading Johnson Wednesday.

Mets | Two Mets idle Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:04:03 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto and C Travis d'Arnaud are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22. 3B Wilmer Flores moves up to hit fifth, OF Matthew Reynolds hits seventh and C Rene Rivera hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flores hits lefties pretty well, and he faces lefty Danny Duffy today. He's worth the low-end consideration hitting fifth. Reynolds and Rivera aren't worth DFS consideration.

Mets | Wilmer Flores returns

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 14:29:02 -0700

New York Mets 3B Wilmer Flores (hand) is back in the lineup Saturday, June 18, hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is hitting .366 this month and is worth a low-end flyer against Aaron Blair.

Mets | Wilmer Flores expects to play

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 05:56:02 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores (hand) expects to be in the starting lineup against the Atlanta Braves Saturday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Flores missed the game Friday, June 17, because of a hand injury, but it does not appear to be serious. He is 3-for-15 with one home run and five RBI over the last seven days but is still a decent candidate in NL-only leagues as well as some deeper mixed leagues.

Mets | Kelly Johnson starting at third vs. Braves

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 12:29:39 -0700

New York Mets INF/OF Kelly Johnson is starting at third base and batting sixth against Atlanta Braves SP John Gant Friday, June 17. SS Wilmer Flores (hand) is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Flores and Johnson were expected to split time at third while the Mets figure out to do at the hot corner following David Wright's neck surgery, which could end his season. Johnson could see the majority of looks in the immediate future after Flores was hit by a pitch in the hand Thursday, June 16. Regardless of how it all plays out, though, Johnson and Flores are low-end fantasy options in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Mets | Wilmer Flores suffers bruised left hand

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 17:19:46 -0700

New York Mets 3B Wilmer Flores (hand) suffered a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh Pirates SP Juan Nicasio during the bottom of the second inning Thursday, June 16. However, he remained in the game until the bottom of the third inning, when INF Kelly Johnson pinch-hit for him. X-rays for Flores came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: Flores' injury appears to be minor, although it remains uncertain if he will be able to return to the lineup Friday, June 17. If he is out for an extended period of time, expect Johnson to receive most of the action at the hot corner.

Mets | Wilmer Flores drives in four runs

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 20:09:40 -0700

New York Mets INF Wilmer Flores went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in a victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is batting .250 with two home runs and nine RBI in 100 at-bats this season but has been playing better since coming off the disabled list last month. He should be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Mets | New-look lineup for Mets

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 14:58:18 -0700

Updating a previous report, OF Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and batting fifth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Wednesday, June 15, after OF Juan Lagares (thumb) was a late scratch. SS Asdrubal Cabrera is now batting second, and INF Wilmer Flores is hitting fourth.

Fantasy Tip: There are limited fantasy ramifications here. Flores receives a boost hitting behind the three best hitters in the lineup and could be a viable low-priced option in daily contests. Johnson also is a potential DFS flier, except he's just 22-for-99 (.222 batting average) against left-handed hurlers since the beginning of 2014.

Mets | Curtis Granderson, Wilmer Flores out

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 12:38:24 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and SS Wilmer Flores are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and is hitting leadoff, while 3B Ty Kelly draws the start at third base and is batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jameson Taillon.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has provided pop out of the leadoff spot (10 home runs) but not much else for fantasy owners, and his average of .204 leaves a lot to be desired. De Aza hasn't had many opportunities this year (13-for-59) and is nothing more than a deep DFS sleeper hitting leadoff against a youngster making his major league debut. Kelly is a desperation flyer in daily formats.

Mets | Wilmer Flores likely to play 3B

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 07:25:08 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores will likely be the primary starter at third base with 3B David Wright (neck) headed to the disabled list, at least in the short term. The Mets are avoiding moving 2B Neil Walker to the hot corner and calling up 2B Dilson Herrera from Class AAA Las Vegas.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is batting just .167 with one home run and two RBI in 60 at-bats for the Mets this year, but he does have notable pop in his lumber for a player that typically qualifies as a middle infielder. Moving around the infield will only boost his fantasy value in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.
