Mets | Lucas Duda out Tuesday

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:36:05 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is not in the lineup Tuesday, April 26, against the Cincinnati Reds. SS Wilmer Flores replaced Duda and will bat sixth against Reds SP Brandon Finnegan.

Fantasy Tip: Duda is out due to the lefty vs. lefty matchup, although he may pinch-hit later in the game. Still, daily owners should leave Duda off their roster. Flores has little fantasy value (.143 average in the last week, .174 for the season).

Mets | David Wright, Travis d'Arnaud out

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 09:18:24 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Aaron Blair Sunday, April 24. INF Wilmer Flores will play the hot corner and bat sixth, while C Kevin Plawecki will bat seventh and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure Wright and d'Arnaud are removed from all fantasy lineups Sunday. Both Flores and Plawecki should be viewed as inexpensive flier options for daily contests.

Mets | David Wright out against Cleveland

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 07:24:09 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is not in the starting lineup Sunday, April 17. SS Wilmer Flores is starting at third base and batting seventh against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Wright in all fantasy formats Sunday. And his value is fading, as the veteran is still without a home run or RBI through nine games to start the season. Flores has upside, but it is a daunting matchup against Kluber, so it isn't the best spot to take a flier on the infielder.

Mets | Lucas Duda takes a seat

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 07:48:28 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 13, with SS Wilmer Flores playing first and hitting fifth. 2B Neil Walker moves up into Duda's cleanup spot. C Travis d'Arnaud also has the day off, and C Kevin Plawecki is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Duda is out against lefty Adam Conley, and Walker has enhanced DFS value at cleanup. Flores is an iffy DFS option, but his place in the lineup makes him a consideration for a basement play. Plawecki isn't a strong fantasy consideration.

Mets | Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores to play Tuesday

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 15:45:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares and SS Wilmer Flores will be in the starting lineup when the Mets face Miami Marlins left-handed SP Adam Conley Tuesday, April 12. OF Yoenis Cespedes will likely move to left field, with OF Michael Conforto moving to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: It will be the first lefty that the Mets have faced this year. Conley is an up-and-coming young arm for the Marlins. Lagares isn't much of a threat with the stick and is a low-end daily option, while Flores has some pop for a shortstop but also won't move the needle much.

Mets | David Wright gets a day off Saturday

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 14:12:30 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is out of the lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez on Saturday, April 9. SS Wilmer Flores will replace Wright in the field and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: The forecast calls for temperatures in the high 30s with a fairly decent chance of precipitation, so New York is probably smart to play it safe here. Flores is a decent option for Wright owners and a serviceable inexpensive play in DFS leagues, but most owners can leave him on waivers for now.

Mets | Wilmer Flores plays first base Friday

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 17:39:08 -0700

New York Mets INF Wilmer Flores played first base during the Grapefruit League game versus the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, March 25. He had only played the position 20 times during a seven-year career in the minors and was seeing his first action there since 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is gaining experience at the position because the Mets plan to use him as a super-utility player this year. However, he may not see much time at first base once the regular season begins, because INF Eric Campbell is also expected to make the 25-man roster. Despite possessing an impressive amount of power and positional versatility, Flores' fantasy value is limited to NL-only leagues as long as he is being used in a reserve role.

Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera likely to open on DL

Fri, 11 Mar 2016 09:21:45 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera (knee) is likely to open the season on the disabled list with a sprained patella tendon in his left knee. He went back to New York Friday, March 11, to receive platelet-rich plasma injections. SSs Wilmer Flores and Ruben Tejada will likely handle shortstop until Cabrera is ready.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera should return to the starting duties at the 6 when he's healthy, so he still might be worth stashing for his pop in the late rounds of cavernous mixed leagues as middle infield insurance. Flores and Tejada are NL-only targets.

Mets | Wilmer Flores out sick

Tue, 01 Mar 2016 11:36:55 -0800

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores (illness) did not take part in the intrasquad game Tuesday, March 1, because of an illness. He's day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Flores has a chance to see occasional at-bats at the keystone alongside Neil Walker and Ruben Tejada. Flores has 25-home run power over a full season, but as long as he's a bench player he's only worth a look in NL-only leagues.

Mets | Wilmer Flores will be 100%

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 14:25:40 -0800

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores (leg) is working out at full strength and says he will be 100% for spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Flores has some surprisng pop for a middle infielder (16 homers in 137 games), but a utility role will severely limit his fantasy potential to deep NL-only games.
