Cubs | Anthony Rizzo on a tear

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 12:21:18 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo is slugging .580 for the season and has eight home runs but zero doubles. Rizzo has hit five homers and driven in 10 runs in his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo's numbers are eye-popping, much like most other Cub hitters in the early part of this season. Keep him in your fantasy lineup as long as he's hitting like this. In daily leagues Rizzo could produce explosive numbers.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo clubs a pair in rout

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 14:45:54 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo continued to keep pace with a major-league leaders in homers and RBI on Sunday, April 24, blasting a pair of two-run home runs off Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo (eight homers, 21 RBI) is batting only .203 but trails only Bryce Harper (nine, 23) in both power categories, and has five home runs as well as 10 RBI over his last five contests. It's scary to think what he could do if actually catches fire sometime soon, although his home run and RBI production should be enough for owners to overlook the other way when it comes to his early poor batting average.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo making most of hits

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 19:35:35 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo homered for the third straight game, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in an 8-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds Friday, April 22. He is hitting .194 this year, but his six home runs are tied for the fourth most in the majors and his 17 RBI are tied for the second most.

Fantasy Tip: Half of Rizzo's 12 hits have left the yard, and he continues to provide excellent power stats despite struggling at the plate overall. The good news is that the average should only improve, and he has remained productive in the meantime.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo continues to struggle

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 15:10:28 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-4 during the Cubs' 6-1 loss to the Colorado Rockies Friday, April 15. He is currently mired in a 2-for-22 slump with just two runs and a single RBI over his past seven games.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Rizzo has been in a funk at the plate to start the season, he still has seven runs, two home runs and 10 RBI to buoy his fantasy value. The slugger is going to break out sooner than later, and if there are any buy-low windows out there, run to them immediately and try to acquire Rizzo.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo dominates in Arizona

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 09:07:12 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo had a big night Thursday, April 7, versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. He finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run, six RBI, three runs scored and a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo is out to a terrific start in 2016. He's the cleanup hitter for arguably the best team in all of baseball, and there's no reason why he won't continue being one of the most value first basemen in all fantasy formats.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo not afraid of lefties

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 11:09:15 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo is hitting .296 with 15 home runs, a .413 on-base percentage, a .495 slugging percentage and a .908 OPS against left-handed pitchers since 2014.

Fantasy Tip: This is why Rizzo was a no doubt first-round fantasy pick this season. Hitting in the heart of an improved Chicago batting order, Rizzo should make plenty of noise in 2016 as an elite first baseman.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo hits first homer

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 23:12:51 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-4 Tuesday, April 5, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, with his first home run of the year. He finished with one run scored and two runs driven in.

Fantasy Tip: It's always nice to get that first one out of the way early, and that's exactly what Rizzo did off Andrew Heaney in the third. More likely than not, Rizzo is headed for his third consecutive 30-homer campaign, which makes him one of the most reliable first basemen to lean on in fantasy.

Cubs | Ben Zobrist could hit third

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 14:09:08 -0700

Chicago Cubs 2B/OF Ben Zobrist could hit third on opening day against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Sunday, April 3, and often throughout the season, even if it means that 1B Anthony Rizzo and 3B Kris Bryant see less at-bats during the year.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist isn't a sexy fantasy baseball player, but he makes a lot of contact, he won't hurt you in average and is a plus in leagues that count on-base percentage. Perhaps his most appealing attribute is his multi-positional flexibility. In this Cubs lineup, he'll score a lot of runs, too. Zobrist is undervalued in the middle rounds for depth across the board.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo hitless in playoffs

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 12:11:22 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo is currently 0-for-10 through the first three playoff games. Chicago faces St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha in Game 3 of the National League Division Series Monday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) was one of the most consistent and reliable hitters in fantasy baseball all season, but his year-long owners should remember these mini slumps. The good news for FantasyScore players is Rizzo rarely landed in a prolonged funk, so expect a solid game from the first baseman Monday. He posted a .323/.432/.585 slash line over 81 plate appearances against the Cardinals during the regular season.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo set to shine?

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 12:09:15 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo, who finished the year with 31 home runs, 101 RBI and an .899 OPS, is 6-for-17 in his career against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole, who he'll face in the wild-card game Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is easily the best at his position for the wild-card round, but you'll have to get creative filling out the rest of your lineup if you select him as one of your studs.
