Cubs | Jake Arrieta has strong outing

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 23:17:18 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta gave up three hits, walked three and struck out 10 batters Sunday, July 19, in a 4-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. Arrieta is 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA in his last six starts.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) has been on fire as of late, proving to be an effective No. 2 starter behind Jon Lester. The way he's played, Arrieta could even be the ace. Whatever the case, the righty is a must-play in all formats as long as he's on this roll.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta goes the distance

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 18:46:43 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta threw a complete game in a win over the Chicago White Sox Sunday, July 12, allowing one run on two hits and striking out nine.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) is averaging more than a strikeout per inning to go along with a 2.66 ERA this year. He has been one of the top starters at FantasyScore this season and is worth paying up for whenever he draws a decent matchup.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta succeeds despite ASG snub

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 17:25:33 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings Tuesday, July 7, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in his past four starts. Arrieta struck out just four hitters Tuesday, but he had struck out seven in each of his previous three starts. Arrieta should continue to receive regular FantasyScore consideration.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta, Dallas Beeler going Tuesday

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 13:47:28 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta is starting the first game and SP Dallas Beeler is starting the second game of the doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, July 7.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) has found his groove with a 0.75 ERA and 21 strikeouts through 24 innings over his past three starts. During the run, he has held opposing hitters to a .408 OPS and he is a top-tier FantasyScore option Tuesday. Beeler is nothing more than a high-risk flier, and FantasyScore players, along with seasonal owners, should likely aim higher.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta sharp again

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 16:52:49 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed five hits and just one run while walking none and striking out seven in eight sharp innings to beat the New York Mets Thursday, July 2. Arrieta lowered his ERA on the season to 2.80 in the 98-pitch outing.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta's ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) fine 2015 season is no fluke. In his last six starts, he's allowed just 10 earned runs in 41 innings while fanning 43. He should always be in consideration for a spot on your FantasyScore lineups when he pitches, and against offensively challenged clubs like the Mets, he becomes a lock.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta has owned Cards

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 11:44:07 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta is 3-1 with a 1.51 ERA in seven career starts against the St. Louis Cardinals, who he faces Friday, June 26. He has struck out 49 and allowed 15 walks and 29 hits in 41 2/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) is having a fine season, with a 3.07 ERA and 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings. However, paying up for him on FantasyScore tonight against the Cardinals, who have the best record in baseball, seems unnecessary.

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 15:30:27 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta tossed a shutout Sunday, June 21, as the Cubs defeated the Minnesota Twins 8-0. It was Arrieta's second career shutout and first since Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) has been a big reason why the Cubs are solid this season. The Twins are struggling but this is still a big win for Arrieta. It cements his status as a must-start pitcher in FantasyScore formats.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta has dominated Cards

Thu, 07 May 2015 10:40:17 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta is 3-0 with a 0.74 ERA with three earned runs allowed in 36 1/3 innings in six career starts against the St. Louis Cardinals. He beat them in seven scoreless innings April 8, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in 19 straight innings against the Cardinals going back to 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is sporting a 2.84 ERA and 1.042 WHIP on the year, and is facing a weaker St. Louis lineup today while Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday rest. He should be a fine option as one of your FantasyScore pitchers this afternoon.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta has off day

Sat, 02 May 2015 15:19:30 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed four earned runs on seven hits in five innings Saturday, May 2, against the Milwaukee Brewers. It was the first time in 16 starts at Wrigley Field that he allowed more than three earned runs.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) was due for an off day, and it seemed like it happened against the Brewers. Owners should not worry, as he will likely rebound in his next start or two.
