Indians | Mike Aviles in lineup

Sun, 24 May 2015 08:17:46 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles will start at shortstop and bat ninth in the order Sunday, May 24, against the Cincinnati Reds. SS Jose Ramirez will go to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is 6-for-his-last-11 and in the midst of a hot streak. While Aviles' price remains low, FantasyScore owners should be putting him into their lineups.

Indians | Mike Aviles in platoon at third?

Thu, 21 May 2015 14:27:36 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Mike Aviles is starting at third base and batting sixth against the Chicago White Sox Thursday, May 21. It is the third consecutive game Aviles has started at third base, and all three games were against a left-handed pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) appears to have a firm grasp on the starting gig at the hot corner when facing a southpaw. His upside is marginal for daily contests, though, and in seasonal formats, he is only an option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Lonnie Chisenhall's ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) value takes a hit, and he is no longer viable outside deep mixed and AL-only formats, if the platoon sticks.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall sitting again vs. Lefty

Wed, 20 May 2015 15:16:24 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, May 20. SS Mike Aviles is starting at third base and hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Chisenhall ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is struggling this season and currently sports a .226/.263/.371 slash line. Sitting in back-to-back games against southpaws suggests Mike Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has earned starts at third base against left-handed pitchers. It is a blow to Chisenhall's seasonal value, but he shouldn't be owned in the majority of leagues considering his poor production. Aviles is nothing more than a low-priced flier in FantasyScore contests Wednesday.

Indians | Mike Aviles starting at the hot corner

Wed, 20 May 2015 15:09:57 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles is starting at third base and batting sixth against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Aviles ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) might have earned a platoon share at third base against left-hand pitchers. He should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests, though. In seasonal formats, Lonnie Chisenhall ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) takes a hit with the playing time loss.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall out vs. lefty

Tue, 19 May 2015 16:08:34 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 19. SS Mike Aviles is starting at third base for the second straight day and hitting sixth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: With Aviles ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) back on the roster, he could be entering into a platoon situation with Chisenhall ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) at third base. Stay tuned for more information on that situation. Aviles doesn't have great career numbers against southpaws, and he's a mediocre shortstop option as he gets back into the swing of things following a leave of absence.

Indians | No Lonnie Chisenhall Monday

Mon, 18 May 2015 14:06:03 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 18. SS Mike Aviles is starting at third base and hitting sixth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) was activated from the restricted list today and hasn't played since May 6. Starting him in his first game back at FantasyScore, especially against imposing lefty Sale, isn't a great idea.

Indians | Mike Aviles activated

Mon, 18 May 2015 13:38:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles was activated from the restricted list Monday, May 18, and RP Austin Adams was optioned to Class AAA Columbus (Ohio) in a corresponding move. Aviles hasn't played since May 6, when he found out his daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.

Fantasy Tip: With both Jose Ramirez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Zach Walters ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) struggling at shortstop for the Tribe, Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) could see significant playing time at the position in the near future. He should be owned in all AL-only leagues for middle infield depth. If Aviles is in the starting lineup tonight against Chicago White Sox starter Chris Sale, he should be avoided at FantasyScore in his first game back.

Indians | Jose Ramirez in danger of a demotion?

Wed, 13 May 2015 14:22:53 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Jose Ramirez could be demoted to the minor leagues when SS Mike Aviles returns from the family medical emergency list.

Fantasy Tip: The 22-year-old Ramirez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is sporting a .179/.222/.238 slash line through 93 at-bats, and the Indians are trying to take a run at the Central Division. Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap), while capable in spurts, has topped 500 at-bats just once in his career, and he doesn't project as the long-term answer. His value is likely on the rise, though. Top prospect Francisco Lindor hasn't exactly forced Cleveland's hand with a standout start to his season at Class AAA Columbus (Ohio), either. Still, Lindor could be a hot stretch away from a promotion, so he is a name to watch.

Indians | Jose Ramirez out, Mike Aviles in

Wed, 06 May 2015 14:13:35 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Jose Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 6. SS Mike Aviles will be the starting shortstop for the team.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has been struggling at the plate, so he could see more off days moving forward. Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in four of the last five games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Indians | Mike Aviles starting at short

Tue, 05 May 2015 16:34:48 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh in the batting order against Kansas City Royals SP Jason Vargas Tuesday, May 5. SS Jose Ramirez is sitting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) could see more frequent starts at the 6 with Ramirez struggling (.194-1-3) as they bide time for prospect Francisco Lindor. Aviles has a home run and three RBI in 14 career at-bats against Vargas, making him a notable sleeper play to save loot at FantasyScore tonight.
