Indians | Abraham Almonte sitting out

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 09:36:47 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Abraham Almonte is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 24. SS Mike Aviles is starting in center field and batting sixth against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has a little bit better numbers against lefties (.233-3-8) than against righties (.212-1-5) this year, but he's not an offensive force and usually struggled to fill up the stat sheet when he's in there. He's a weak FantasyScore option today.

Indians | Jason Kipnis sitting out

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 07:35:08 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Sunday, Aug. 23. SS Mike Aviles will start at second base and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) should return to the starting lineup in the next game or two. Aviles ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has seven hits and four RBI in his last eight games, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to find better options to use.

Indians | Giovanny Urshela still out

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 14:10:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Giovanny Urshela (shoulder) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 18. SS Mike Aviles is starting at third base and hitting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) doesn't have strong offensive skills and is hitting just .227 (50-for-220) with four home runs and 13 RBI. Hitting at the bottom of the order won't endear him to any FantasyScore users tonight, either.

Indians | Michael Brantley still out

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 09:56:46 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Sunday, Aug. 16. SS Mike Aviles will start in left field and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is still out with his shoulder injury, so owners should monitor the situation. Aviles ($3,200. 6.4% of cap) has four hits in two RBI in his last three games but may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Indians | Michael Brantley likely out entire series

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:25:06 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley's (shoulder) MRI results were clean, but he received a cortisone shot and is potentially out for the entire series against the Minnesota Twins this weekend. SS Mike Aviles draws into the starting lineup and is batting ninth against Minnesota Twins SP Trevor May Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Don't count on Brantley ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) this weekend in seasonal leagues. Similarly, it would be ill-advised to expect much from Aviles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) at FantasyScore Friday. He is currently mired in a 2-for-35 funk with just one run and one RBI over his past 14 games.

Indians | Michael Brantley out vs. lefty

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 15:00:07 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley is not in the lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Wednesday, Aug. 12. SS Mike Aviles is starting in left field and hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Sabathia was decent in his last start, but he's been pretty bad for the majority of the rest of his starts in 2015. Aviles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't really move the needle much on FantasyScore, especially hitting at the bottom of the order. Continue to consider him a deep sleeper in daily formats.

Indians | Michael Brantley taking day off

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 11:38:45 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 5. SS Mike Aviles is starting in left field and hitting eighth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't have much power to speak of and rarely fills out the stat sheet when he starts, especially when he's at the bottom of the order. He has four homers this year, just nine RBI and a .221 average. Consider him a low-end bat on FantasyScore.

Indians | Mike Aviles starting at second

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 15:22:48 -0700

Clevenad Indians SS Mike Aviles will start at second base and hit ninth in the order Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Oakland Athletics and RHP Aaron Brooks. OF Tyler Holt comes out of the lineup in a corresponding roster change.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't have a hit in 22 consecutive plate appearances, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore.

Indians | Mike Aviles starting at 2B

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:10:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles is starting at second base and hitting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Chris D. Young Tuesday, July 28. 2B Jason Kipnis is serving as the designated hitter after the team traded OF David Murphy prior to the game.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't have much appeal in daily games while hitting near the bottom of the batting order. However, he could see more playing time for the Indians after the departure of Murphy. Take note in deep mixed leagues if you need depth or a dual-position threat.
