Nationals | Daniel Murphy homers twice Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 19:16:39 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI against the New York Mets Wednesday, June 29. He has 14 homers this year, tying his career high set while playing for the Mets last season.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy has five home runs and 18 RBI in 99 at-bats this month and leads the club with 53 RBI through 76 games. He's a solid option at the keystone position in all fantasy formats.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy torching old team

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 15:23:20 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy has been on a tear this season versus his old team. In six games against the New York Mets, Murphy is 10-for-23 with two home runs and six runs driven in.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy has seemingly picked up where he left off from last year's magical postseason run, and he's done a lot of damage opposite his ex-teammates. With the Mets in town beginning Monday, Murphy could be a strong play for daily formats in the upcoming days ahead.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy clubs 12th home run

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 23:48:17 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI against the San Diego Padres on Friday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy now has a dozen home runs in 65 games. His career high is 14, set last year with the Mets, so he seems like a good bet to set a new single-season mark. Despite his negligible speed, Murphy is filling up the other fantasy categories. He could be an interesting sell-high candidate considering the 31-year-old is currently hitting 68 points above his career mark.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman out

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 16:04:16 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 16. 2B Stephen Drew is starting at second base and is hitting seventh, while 1B Clint Robinson draws in at first base and is batting fifth against San Diego Padres SP Erik Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Just normal days of rest for Murphy and Zimmerman. Act accordingly to bench them in seasonal and daily leagues. Robinson is hitting .222 with two home runs and 10 RBI, while Drew has a .246/.301/.554 slash line with six long balla and 13 RBI. Both flash occasional power but are nothing more than deep sleepers on the odd chance they connect tonight.

Nationals | Stephen Drew draws into lineup

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 14:45:52 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Stephen Drew is starting at the keystone and is hitting eighth against Chicago White Sox SP James Shields Wednesday, June 8. 2B Daniel Murphy is serving as the designated hitter in an American League park.

Fantasy Tip: Drew is hitting under the Mendoza Line this year (.189) and has three home runs and seven RBI in 53 at-bats. He's purely a lottery ticket as a deep sleeper in daily games. Murphy is a must-start in all fantasy leagues.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy stuffs the box score

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 14:25:43 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy made even the most finicky fantasy owner happy Sunday, June 5, finishing 3-for-5 - including a two-run homer - with three RBI and three runs scored against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy, who has been tip-toeing around .400 all season long and is batting a major-league best .384 after today's effort, made it up to his owners after going hitless in his first eight at-bats in Cincinnati. The 31-year-old is doing everything he can to keep up with the top fantasy second basemen in the game such as Jose Altuve, Ian Kinsler and Robinson Cano, with 10 homers, 37 RBI and 34 runs. He's an obvious must-start.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos, Clint Robinson starting

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 11:05:40 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is back in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Dan Straily Saturday, June 4, batting fifth. In addition, 1B/OF Clint Robinson will bat seventh and play first base, while INF Daniel Murphy will play second base and bat cleanup. INF Trea Turner is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramos is 8-for-16 with a double, two home runs, eight RBI and five runs scored over the past week and should be viewed as a must-start option in all fantasy formats. On the other hand, Robinson is batting just .204 in 49 at-bats this year and should be avoided.

Nationals | Trea Turner starting at second Friday

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 13:49:07 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Trea Turner is starting at second base and is hitting second against Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan Friday, June 3. 2B Daniel Murphy moves to first base and is batting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Turner is one of the top shortstop prospects in the game and was likely already stashed in the majority of fantasy leagues. He was hitting .310/.376/.472 and was a perfect 17-for-17 in steals on the minors, showing he has little left to prove on the farm. However, he's likely to head back down to the minors when Ryan Zimmerman is back from paternity leave. Don't put too much stock into him just yet in shallow mixed leagues. In DFS, he could be a popular pick in the two-hole.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy's three hits extend streak

Tue, 31 May 2016 03:14:17 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Daniel Murphy extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in a 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, May 30.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy has his average back up to .395. Continue to start him in all formats, but it doesn't hurt to try to see if another owner will overpay to acquire him.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy sets hitting mark

Sun, 29 May 2016 04:58:47 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy picked up his 41st hit in May, the most by a Nationals player since the team moved from Montreal in 2005.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy continues to show why he merited a four-year deal in the offseason following an explosive playoff performance with the New York Mets. Continue to play him in all formats as long as that bat is hot.
