Mets | Lucas Duda sitting against lefty

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:36:24 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is not in the starting lineup versus Washington Nationals left-handed SP Gio Gonzalez Friday, July 31. 2B Daniel Murphy is starting at first base and hitting third in the lineup, while SS Wilmer Flores gets the start at the keystone and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: We don't recommend using Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) against a left-handed pitcher, as he's hitting only .174 (12-for-69) against them this year with none of his six home runs. Gonzalez has been pitching very well of late, too. Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) does have 10 home runs and is a midrange shortstop play to save money elsewhere on your roster.

Mets | Daniel Murphy will play at 2B

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:43:07 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy will start at second base against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Tuesday, July 28, and is batting second in the lineup. 2B Kelly Johnson is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could see more time at second base with the team acquiring Juan Uribe. He has at least one hit in eight of his last nine hits with five RBI during that span. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using him because of his production.

Mets | Daniel Murphy could move to 2B

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 07:18:09 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy could move from third base to second base after the team acquired 3B Juan Uribe.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been playing at third base for the last few weeks but likely will be moving back to second base. He has at least one hit in nine of his last 11 games and could be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Mets | Daniel Murphy sitting vs. Dodgers

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:12:17 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 23. 1B Eric Campbell is starting at third base and batting fifth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) hasn't been at his best of late with just three runs, a home run and two RBI through 16 games in July. Going against Kershaw ($9,700, 19.4% of cap), none of the Mets are advised daily players, and since Campbell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) sports and .179/.305/.283 slash line, FantasyScore players should definitely aim higher.

Mets | N.Y. to trade for third baseman?

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 10:52:57 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) is hoping to transition from his back rehab in California to the team's spring training facility in Florida within a couple of weeks, but that's "up in the air." The Mets might need to trade for a third baseman if Wright isn't able to progress, since New York prefers to move 2B Daniel Murphy off the hot corner.

Fantasy Tip: With no improvement being seen in Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), it's looking more and more likely that he won't be much help to fantasy owners for the rest of 2015. Aramis Ramirez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been mentioned as a possibility, but his already fading fantasy value would likely take even more of a hit with a move to New York.

Mets | Daniel Murphy on the bench

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 09:36:26 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin Saturday, July 11. 3B Eric Campbell will start at third base and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Campbell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) picked up a home run and two RBI in his last game, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Mets | Daniel Murphy returning Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 10:59:31 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) will be activated from the disabled list in time for the game Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) and the Mets are facing Chicago Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks tonight. Hendricks has struggled of late, and Murphy is hitting .302 (48-for-159) with all four of his home runs against right-handers this year. Consider Murphy as a sleeper for a value play tonight.

Mets | Daniel Murphy due back Tuesday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 13:36:45 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) is expected to come off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) will likely slot in at third base until David Wright (back) returns, and he'll be a low-end 2B option on FantasyScore.

Mets | Wilmer Flores moving to keystone?

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 09:10:50 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores has a "good possibility" of moving to second base when 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) returns from the disabled list as soon as this weekend, according to a source familiar with internal team discussions. Murphy would move back to third base with SS Ruben Tejada playing shortstop at least in the short term. 2B Dilson Herrera would likely be the odd-man out in the infield. Flores has limited range at shortstop, and the Mets have struggled to turn double plays this year. Flores does have 10 home runs but is hitting only .243 with a .277 on-base percentage.

Fantasy Tip: This will do nothing to change Flores' ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) fantasy value at all. He does have suprising pop for a middle infielder, but his average isn't doing his owners any favors. Continue to view him as a low-end shortstop play on FantasyScore.

Mets | Daniel Murphy begins rehab assignment

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 15:02:57 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) began his minor league rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Wednesday, June 24. Murphy went 1-for-4 with a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could be activated as soon as this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds. Fantasy owners will want to be patient with him initially and allow him to shake off the rust before utilizing him in FantasyScore contests. The Mets are also struggling offensively, which is a value hit to their entire lineup.
