Mets | Daniel Murphy returning Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 10:59:31 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) will be activated from the disabled list in time for the game Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) and the Mets are facing Chicago Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks tonight. Hendricks has struggled of late, and Murphy is hitting .302 (48-for-159) with all four of his home runs against right-handers this year. Consider Murphy as a sleeper for a value play tonight.

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) is expected to come off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 30.

Mets | Wilmer Flores moving to keystone?

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 09:10:50 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores has a "good possibility" of moving to second base when 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) returns from the disabled list as soon as this weekend, according to a source familiar with internal team discussions. Murphy would move back to third base with SS Ruben Tejada playing shortstop at least in the short term. 2B Dilson Herrera would likely be the odd-man out in the infield. Flores has limited range at shortstop, and the Mets have struggled to turn double plays this year. Flores does have 10 home runs but is hitting only .243 with a .277 on-base percentage.

Fantasy Tip: This will do nothing to change Flores' ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) fantasy value at all. He does have suprising pop for a middle infielder, but his average isn't doing his owners any favors. Continue to view him as a low-end shortstop play on FantasyScore.

Mets | Daniel Murphy begins rehab assignment

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 15:02:57 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) began his minor league rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Wednesday, June 24. Murphy went 1-for-4 with a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could be activated as soon as this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds. Fantasy owners will want to be patient with him initially and allow him to shake off the rust before utilizing him in FantasyScore contests. The Mets are also struggling offensively, which is a value hit to their entire lineup.

Mets | Daniel Murphy rehabbing Wednesday

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 10:06:55 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) is starting at third base for the Gulf Coast League Mets Wednesday, June 24, and he could come off the disabled list this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds. Murphy has been out since June 4. The Mets appear to continue using Murphy at third base when he returns.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) return could push Ruben Tejada to second base full time. Murphy was hitting a respectable .283 (56-for-198) with four home runs and 29 RBI before his injury, and he'll give the Mets a much-needed offensive boost if he returns this weekend. You'll only want to use him against righties on FantasyScore, though, as he has a .205/.256/.231 slash line in 39 at-bats versus southpaws in 2015.

Mets | Daniel Murphy close to rehab

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:09:14 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) is running in Port St. Lucie and he should begin a rehab assignment within a day or two. Murphy could be activated as soon as next weekend's series against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should be avoided on FantasyScore for his first couple games back in the majors, but he'll be worth starting in season-long leagues.

Mets | Daniel Murphy on track for Tuesday

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 16:11:41 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) is on track to return from the disabled list Tuesday, June 23, while the Mets are in Milwaukee, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. It was originally expected Murphy would return Saturday, June 20.

Fantasy Tip: Dating back to 2012, Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been an extremely consistent hitter with a .288/.328/.408 slash line. He offers little home run power, but he has posted north of 35 doubles in each of the past three seasons. FantasyScore players should view him as a viable value option at second base, especially in favorable pitching matchups.

Mets | Daniel Murphy expected back soon

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 11:10:54 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) is expected to be activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 20, when is first eligible to be activated.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is expected to be the regular third baseman when he returns from the disabled list. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see how he does in his first few games off the disabled list, but he should be a solid option most nights.

Mets | Daniel Murphy won't be out long

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 12:53:20 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) will report to extended spring training Friday, June 12, and he'll play in a game but won't run. Murphy is expected to miss the minimum of 15 days on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: That's good new for the Mets, who have really hit an offensive slump because of injuries of late. Dilson Herrera ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Ruben Tejada ($2,200) can continue manning the keystone until Murphy is back. Tejada has been hitting but won't give you much else as a low-end shortstop option on FantasyScore. Herrera shouldn't be on your radar.

Mets | Daniel Murphy placed on disabled list

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 13:59:02 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) was placed on the disabled list Friday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) was hitting .342 (40-for-117) with 15 RBI since Friday, May 1, and with the Mets already significantly banged up, their lineup is losing another source of punch. Danny Muno ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) was recalled, and he projects to receive some time at the keystone with Murphy out, but Muno should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore contests. Continue to check back for updates on Murphy's recovery and a potential return timeline.
