Nationals | Daniel Murphy sets hitting mark

Sun, 29 May 2016 04:58:47 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy picked up his 41st hit in May, the most by a Nationals player since the team moved from Montreal in 2005.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy continues to show why he merited a four-year deal in the offseason following an explosive playoff performance with the New York Mets. Continue to play him in all formats as long as that bat is hot.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy receives some rest

Thu, 26 May 2016 12:31:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 26. 2B Stephen Drew is starting at the keystone and is hitting seventh against St. Louis Cardinals SP Mike Leake.

Fantasy Tip: The left-handed hitting Drew has some pop in his lumber but is a desperation daily selection, as he's hitting just .140/.208/.302 with two home runs in 43 at-bats. He hit .201 in 383 at-bats for the Yankees last season.

Nationals | Bryce Harper takes a seat

Wed, 25 May 2016 08:37:33 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 25, with 2B Daniel Murphy hitting third. OF Chris Heisey is hitting seventh and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy refuses to cool off as he has a robust .411-5-19 line this month. He's one of the top few players at his position in fantasy. Heisey has some upside against left-hander Steven Matz as he has hit well against lefties in his career. He's a low-end option to consider today.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy once again scorches Mets

Tue, 24 May 2016 20:14:46 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI Tuesday, May 24, opposite the New York Mets. One of his two hits went for his seventh home run of the year.

Fantasy Tip: Geez, if it wasn't bad enough for the Mets that Murphy just keeps on raking, the 31-year-old is now 8-for-19 with a pair of homers and six RBI in only five games facing his former club. Regardless, Murphy has picked up where he left off during his smoking hot postseason and should be regularly featured on all fantasy starting rosters.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy, Jayson Werth resting

Sun, 15 May 2016 09:17:09 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy and OF Jayson Werth are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Sunday, May 15. INF Stephen Drew will play second base and bat eighth, while 1B/OF Clint Robinson will bat fifth and play left field.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson is only hitting .194 but he has two home runs and eight RBI through 31 at-bats so he could be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in daily contests. Drew is batting .154 through 39 at-bats and is not a viable option in any fantasy format.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy hitting third

Sat, 14 May 2016 14:29:52 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy is hitting third Saturday, May 14, with OF Bryce Harper serving his one-game suspension. C Wilson Ramos has moved up to hit cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy is a must-start regardless, but the absence of Harper could hurt him more than the lineup promotion could help. Ben Revere and Anthony Rendon will have to get it going to with Harper's stout .461 OBP absent. Ramos is hitting .359 and is an upper-level catching option daily. The move to cleanup gives him even more upside against Kendry Flores in his debut.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy continues torrid pace

Wed, 11 May 2016 20:07:10 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs Wednesday, May 11, against the Detroit Tigers, and he is now hitting .409 on the season.

Fantasy Tip: It's just the middle of May, but hitting over .400 is still impressive nonetheless. And he has 13 doubles and 22 RBIs to date, too. He was scorching hot in the playoffs last season and it has spilled over to this season and with his new club.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy in cleanup spot

Wed, 11 May 2016 12:32:25 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy is hitting cleanup against Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann Wednesday, May 11. 1B Ryan Zimmerman moves down to fifth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Despite hitting two home runs Tuesday night, Zimmerman is hitting only .235 on the year, and the Nats want to give Bryce Harper more protection. Murphy has an eye-popping .398/.439/.650 slash line with five home runs, 49 hits and 20 RBI. While he's due for regression, Murphy could remain one of the most productive all-around second basemen in fantasy throughout the year.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy continues to roll

Mon, 09 May 2016 23:43:43 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs Monday, May 9, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy pushed his average to .398 with five homers and 20 RBIs. He was red hot in the postseason for the New York Mets last season and he hasn't cooled off since.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy, Wilson Ramos resting

Sat, 07 May 2016 10:48:58 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy and C Wilson Ramos are not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Saturday, May 7. INF Stephen Drew will play second base and bat seventh, while C Jose Lobaton starts behind the plate and bats eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Drew nor Lobaton should be viewed as a viable fantasy option this afternoon. Drew is just 3-for-30 at the plate this season with 11 strikeouts, while Lobaton is 6-for-33 with three RBI.
