Mets | Wilmer Flores on the way

Thu, 24 Jul 2014 09:17:44 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores will join the club in Milwaukee Thursday, July 24. A corresponding roster move will be announced at a later time.

Fantasy Tip: This probably has to do with Ruben Tejada's head injury from Wednesday. Flores is an NL-only add and someone worth a last-ditch roster spot in deep mixed games.

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 16:53:46 -0700

Team doctors said he had no concussion-like symptoms, and he will travel with the team. There is no call-up pending.

Fantasy Tip: If you're in an NL-only fantasy leagues which allows daily transactions, it is a good idea to reserve him. Tejada is likely to get the day off Thursday, regardless of how he feels.

Mets | Ruben Tejada will start through All-Star Break

Thu, 26 Jun 2014 13:23:41 -0700

New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada should start every game at shortstop through the All-Star break, according to manager Terry Collins. Mets 3B Eric Campbell will serve as his emergency backup.

Fantasy Tip: Desperate NL-only owners could consider Tejada, given his guaranteed playing time, but he brings little upside to the table.

Mets | Ruben Tejada considered for leadoff

Sat, 07 Jun 2014 18:08:24 -0700

New York Mets manager Terry Collins said Saturday, June 7, that he is considering using SS Ruben Tejada in the leadoff spot going forward.

Fantasy Tip: More at-bats is always good news for a fantasy option. Tejada would see an increase in appeal, would still only be worth using in NL-only leagues and some of the deepest mixed formats.

Mets | Ruben Tejada has not lost shortstop job

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 18:16:35 -0700

New York Mets SS Omar Quintanilla was in the starting lineup for the second time in four games Tuesday, April 15, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Manager Terry Collins insisted that it isn't a sign SS Ruben Tejada is losing the starting job. Collins cited Tuesday's inclusion of Quintanilla was a matchup issue, as Diamondbacks SP Bronson Arroyo had an opposing batting average of .295 by left-handed hitters (such as Quintanilla) last season, while righties hit just .219 against him.

Fantasy Tip: Tejada is hitting below the Mendoza line for the season, and his on-base percentage of .267 in 45 plate appearances does little for fantasy owners. For now, he is only worth using in the deepest of NL-only leagues until he starts to show some signs of life at the dish.
