Blue Jays | Ezequiel Carrera back atop the lineup

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 13:52:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ezequiel Carrera (Achilles') is starting in left field and leading off against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Friday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Carrera remains a solid fantasy option in deep mixed and AL-only leagues because of his uptick in playing time with Jose Bautista on the disabled list with turf toe. Carrera's .314/.386/.441 slash line plays nicely atop a potent Toronto lineup, too.

Blue Jays | Ezequiel Carrera sitting vs. Arizona

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 10:24:57 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ezequiel Carrera is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 22. OF Darrell Ceciliani is starting in right field and batting ninth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Carrera has seen plenty of playing time with Jose Bautista (toe) on the disabled list, and Carrera has a gone a respectable 10-for-37 with a .846 OPS through his past 10 games. He's a viable starter in deep mixed and AL-only leagues for the duration of Bautista's absence. Ceciliani is nothing more than a desperation option in all fantasy formats.

Blue Jays | Ezequiel Carrera belts third homer

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 15:51:41 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ezequiel Carrera connected on a solo shot for his only hit in three at-bats in a loss against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, June 18. Carrera received another start in right field in place of Jose Bautista, who was placed on the disabled list Friday, June 17, with a toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: All Carrera has done this season is produce when given the opportunity, batting .326 with three homers, six RBI and three steals while scoring 23 runs and logging just over half of his 95 at-bats out of the leadoff spot. With Bautista sidelined for at least two more weeks, the 29-year-old Venezuelan is set to bat atop the order of what had been a resurgent offense prior to Saturday. Particularly against left-handed starters, Carrera should be a sneaky good play in DFS while Bautista is away.

Blue Jays | Ezequiel Carrera will be everyday player

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 13:50:32 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ezequiel Carrera will play every day during OF Jose Bautista's (toe) stint on the disabled list, according to manager John Gibbons. Gibbons noted OF Darrell Ceciliani will serve as the fourth outfielder.

Fantasy Tip: Carrera owns a .330/.398/.443 slash line and should see the majority of his starts in the leadoff spot. He could be a sneaky source of runs, stolen bases and batting average through the duration of Bautista's absence, so grab Carrera wherever you need outfield help. Ceciliani is nothing more than a desperation fantasy option.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders sitting vs. Phillies

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 12:46:00 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 15. OF Ezequiel Carrera is starting in left field and leading off against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders made a precautionary exit Tuesday, June 14, because of hamstring tightness, so stay tuned for updates. Carrera continues to hit when given an opportunity, and he is a low-end starter in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups given his .333/.398/.452 slash lin through 94 plate appearances. He's a viable flier in daily contests Wednesday, too.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion sitting vs. Phillies

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 12:38:33 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion is receiving a routine night off Monday, June 13. OF Ezequiel Carrera draws into the lineup in right field and is batting sixth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Sub out Encarnacion where you can in seasonal leagues. While his .247/.327/.490 slash line is a little below what we've come to expect from Encarnacion, his 15 homers and 54 RBI are as advertised. Continue to view him as a high-end fantasy option. Carrera is a viable flier in daily contests Monday, and he remains a viable depth piece in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista sitting vs. Orioles

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 12:42:39 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (thigh) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 10. OF Ezequiel Carrera is starting in right field and leading off against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista left the game in the sixth inning because of a thigh injury Thursday, June 9, so it is discouraging to see him out of the lineup Friday. Stay tuned for updates, but don't make any hasty roster decisions with the slugger. Carrera has delivered when called upon this season and boasts a .338/.386/.431 slash line. View him as a viable flier in daily contests Friday, especially hitting in the leadoff spot.

Blue Jays | Three Blue Jays take a seat

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 08:15:23 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin, OF Michael Saunders and 2B Devon Travis are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 8. OF Kevin Pillar moved up to hit fifth, OF Ezequiel Carrera is hitting sixth, SS Ryan Goins hits eighth and C Josh Thole is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Pillar has pedestrian numbers, but he has the most daily appeal behind Joey Bats, Josh Donaldson, Edwin Encarnacion and Justin Smoak. Give Pillar a low-end look. Carrera has some fringe basement appeal as well. Pass on Goins and Thole against Jordan Zimmermann.
