White Sox | Austin Jackson several weeks away

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 17:40:37 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (knee) is still several weeks away from returning.

Fantasy Tip: Although his knee surgery took place more than a month ago, it appears Jackson is still not close to a return. At this point, it seems doubtful that the 29-year-old can make an impact for any fantasy teams the rest of the way. J.B. Shuck will continue to benefit in his absence, but he's not really an ideal option.

White Sox | Austin Jackson has surgery

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 16:42:20 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (knee) underwent surgery on his left knee Wednesday, June 15, and will be re-evaluated in four weeks. He had a small portion of the medial meniscus removed and will be on crutches for two weeks. Jackson was hitting .254 with 18 RBI and two stolen bases in 54 games.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson was more useful to the White Sox in real life for his defense than to fantasy owners. He has little power and wasn't getting on base much to utilize his speed. For that reason he shouldn't be retained in most mixed leagues. J.B. Shuck gains the most from Jackson's absence in the meantime, but he's really only valuable as depth in AL-only leagues.

White Sox | Austin Jackson needs surgery

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 14:16:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (knee) needs surgery on his knee, and he'll be out for a minimum of six weeks, according to general manager Rick Hahn.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tough blow for a fading White Sox club. Jackson hadn't done much offensively this year (.254-0-18), but his defense in center field was key. Adam Eaton is likely to move over to center full time now, and J.B. Shuck and Jason Coats are likely to split playing time in either right field or at DH. Jackson should only remain stashed in deeper AL-only universes.

White Sox | Austin Jackson lands on DL

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:37:23 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (knee) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a medial meniscus tear in his left knee Friday, June 10. OF Jason Coats was recalled from Class AAA Charlotte in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: It's probably safe to say that A-Jax will be out for longer than 15 days with his injury, and it could affect his ability to run when he returns. At .254/.318/.343 with no homers, 18 RBI and two steals, Jackson was mainly an AL-only option. He means more to the White Sox in real life for his defense than he does to fantasy owners. Expect to see J.B. Shuck and Coats split time in center field with Jackson hurt. Neither are anything more than cheap fliers for depth in AL leagues.

White Sox | Austin Jackson returns from injury

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:14:35 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (toe) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting second against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Tuesday, June 7.

Fantasy Tip: A-Jax was dealing with turf toe and hasn't played since May 29. Give him at least a few games back before trusting him in any fantasy format. After all, he was hitting only .259 with no homers, 18 RBI and two steals on the year. Jackson is mainly an AL-only commodity and contributes mainly defensively for Chicago.

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (toe) is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Wednesday, June 1. OF J.B. Shuck will start in center field and is batting sixth in the starting lineup.

White Sox | Austin Jackson back Friday?

Tue, 31 May 2016 15:01:47 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (toe) is hopeful of returning to the starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers Friday, June 3, according to manager Robin Ventura. "It doesn't look DL worthy. It's something painful like turf toe, in the joint," Ventura said.

Fantasy Tip: You should look to avoid A-Jax anywhere you own him for the remainder of the week. He's hitting only .259 with no home runs, 18 RBI and two stolen bases, too, so it's not like he is a real fantasy asset outside of deep AL-only leagues.

White Sox | Austin Jackson, Jimmy Rollins out

Tue, 31 May 2016 13:30:30 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson and SS Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 31. SS Tyler Saladino is starting at shortstop and is hitting seventh against New York Mets SP Steven Matz.

Fantasy Tip: A-Jax is out with no DH in the National League park. Saladino isn't much to look at with the bat and is hitting .269 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 24 games for the Pale Hose. He's a desperation flier in daily leagues tonight against a strong young pitcher.

White Sox | Austin Jackson not playing

Mon, 30 May 2016 08:01:28 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (toe) is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Matt Harvey Monday, May 30. OF J.B. Shuck will start in center field and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Shuck did not have much success when he was with the White Sox earlier in the season and probably should be avoided in daily fantasy leagues.

White Sox | Austin Jackson suffers injury

Mon, 30 May 2016 06:02:30 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson (toe) left the game early Sunday, May 29, and has been diagnosed with turf toe. Jackson and manager Robin Vertura said they are not sure when Jackson will be able to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Jackson will need to be placed on the disabled list. Jerry Sands could receive some starts while Jackson is sidelined but is not a strong fantasy option.
