The Atlanta Braves extended the contract of general manager Frank Wren through the 2014 season. Assistant general manager Bruce Manno was promoted to Vice President and Assistant General Manager/Player Development. Director of Professional Scouting John Coppolella was promoted to assistant general manager. Senior director of ticket sales Paul Adams was promoted to Vice president of ticket sales.

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Braves C Brian McCann (shoulder) believes he will need to undergo shoulder surgery and estimates he could miss as much as five months. However, general manager Frank Wren said that unless the results of a dye-contrast MRI exam show something worse than the diagnosis, team doctors feel he won't need surgery.

The Atlanta Braves have hired Bob Johnson as a special assistant to general manager Frank Wren, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman. Johnson is expected to serve primarily as an advance scout, in a role similar to the ones he had with the New York Mets (2007-10), Texas Rangers (2005-06) and Oakland Athletics (1997-2004).

Heading into spring training, Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren believes his team is better than it was at the end of 2009, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Jeff Schultz. "We've got good baseball people in this organization and we feel good about this group of players. I can't get caught up in the media perception of what we've done to this point. The proof's going to be when we take the field," Wren said.
