Eagles | Philly quarterbacks should split reps

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 12:36:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Carson Wentz and Chase Daniel will receive equal repetitions heading into training camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson said Bradford likely won't take more reps than Wentz and Daniel until late in the preseason when starters usually ramp up their workload.

Fantasy Tip: The starting job seems to be Bradford's to lose, but Wentz and Daniel could make the decision tougher if they perform well enough will their equal reps. Bradford and the other two won't be worth drafting as a starting fantasy quarterback, however.

Eagles | No QB order set in Philly

Wed, 25 May 2016 11:33:46 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said that the order set with QB Sam Bradford as the No. 1, QB Chase Daniel as the backup and QB Carson Wentz as the third guy is "probably not the right impression." "But the other thing that -- as coaches -- that you've got to establish is a culture of competition. This is one of the most competitive industries in the world and so, to say that there's not competition, that's just the furthest thing from the truth."

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Bradford was the starter recently after the quarterback ended his brief holdout. It's likely just coach speak from Reich, and we fully expect Bradford to enter Week 1 as the starter. Bradford's leash could be short, though, since Pederson has an affinity for Daniel and Wentz has the skills to be serviceable in the NFL quickly. Bradford, or whoever is starting for Philly in 2016, should be firmly in the fantasy backup conversation.

Eagles | Sam Bradford works with first-team

Wed, 18 May 2016 09:47:31 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Tuesday, May 17, with QB Chase Daniel taking repetitions with the second-team and QB Carson Wentz with the third-team. "I've actually talked to Sam since he's back," head coach Doug Pederson said, "and I told him: My feelings haven't changed. He's my guy. He's the No. 1 guy. I want him to embrace that and not look backward. Look forward."

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is expected to enter the season as the starter, but he may not have a long leash if he struggles, especially since Pederson has a history with Daniel and has high praise for him. Regardless, Wentz is the QB of the future in Philly. Bradford is nothing more than a midrange fantasy backup, but he can put up low-end QB1 numbers in the right matchups.

Eagles | Philly's QBs split reps

Tue, 17 May 2016 14:27:06 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz all received the same amount of repetitions during practice Tuesday, May 17. Head coach Doug Pederson said Bradford will receive more reps once training camp begins since he will be the starter.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford will enter training camp as the starter, but the team is splitting snaps because they want Wentz to learn the offense. Bradford should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues in 2016. Wentz likely will not have much value in standard leagues but should be an attractive option in keeper leagues.

Eagles | Philly to pay high price for quarterbacks

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 12:09:12 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and likely one of North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz or California QB Jared Goff will cost the Eagles more than $42 million. Bradford is due $18 million, Daniel is due $7 million and Went or Goff will be due at least $16 million, including a signing bonus.

Fantasy Tip: It's been an interesting offseason for Philadelphia. They re-signed Bradford, brought in Daniel and then decided they still didn't have their franchise quarterback. Their quarterbacks will be deep, but their wallets will be shallow. Through it all, drafting any of them as a starting fantasy quarterback is ill advised.

Eagles | Sam Bradford playing for his future

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 20:27:35 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford will likely be getting a one-year look from the team, as he is guaranteed only $4 million in the second year of his current deal. He got better as the season progressed in 2015, but the team visited the top quarterbacks in this year's draft, and inked QB Chase Daniel to a three-year, $21 million contract as a backup plan. The team can get out of Bradford's deal if it doesn't work out for $22 million total, and some team is likely to sign Bradford for $4 million in 2017 if he is released, offsetting a $4 million loss.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford will be playing for a payday in a new offensive system and with Daniel breathing down his neck. One of them will be around in 2017, and one will be wearing a different uniform. For now, Bradford is the starter and has some fantasy upside since he will be continually playing for a job from here on in.

Eagles | Sam Bradford the starter in Philly

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 12:31:38 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is the starting quarterback heading into the 2016 season, with QB Chase Daniel as the No. 2, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense given the monetary commitment to Bradford, but Bradford's lack of production last year and injury history are red flags, and he could have a short leash. Pederson likes Daniel a lot, so he could see a chance before long. Regardless, neither QB is more than a midrange fantasy backup.

Eagles | Chase Daniel could start

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 14:26:57 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Chase Daniel will be given a chance to take away the starting quarterback job from QB Sam Bradford, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford re-signing didn't necessarily guarantee him his starting job back. While Daniel may not be viewed as talented a quarterback as Bradford, new head coach Doug Pederson still really likes him going back to their days with the Kansas City Chiefs. Whoever starts for the Eagles shouldn't be viewed as more than a backup fantasy quarterback, though.

Eagles | Chase Daniel financials

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 13:05:35 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Chase Daniel's three-year deal is worth $21 million with $12 million fully guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: Daniel reunites with former offensive coordinator Doug Pederson. With Sam Bradford's injury history and disappointing production, Daniel could play a bigger role than people think in Philadelphia's offense. He won't have much fantasy value as long as Bradford is healthy, though.

Eagles | Chase Daniel lands three years

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 09:14:33 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Chase Daniel has an agreement on a three-year deal with the Eagles Wednesday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Daniel is familiar with Doug Pederson's system from his time in KC, and Pederson lauded that Daniel was more than a backup QB earlier this offseason. Sam Bradford doesn't have a strong hold on the starting spot, and Daniel could become a factor. Daniel is a watch-list player that could be worth a waiver claim at some point in 2016.
