Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline could end up as the Browns' leading wide receiver, in the opinion of ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline will primarily be competing with Dwayne Bowe and Andrew Hawkins for top receiver on the Browns. A lot depends on who can stay on the field. Nevertheless, Hartline shouldn't be considered more than a WR5.
Tue, 02 Jun 2015 08:42:30 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (undisclosed) and WR Travis Benjamin (undisclosed) are riding bikes Tuesday, June 2, at organized team activities.
Mon, 09 Mar 2015 17:22:24 -0700
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline agreed to a two-year deal worth $6 million.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline did not have a big role in the passing game for the Miami Dolphins this past season but could have a bigger role with the Browns. Owners should consider Hartline as no better than a No. 3 fantasy wide receiver in drafts next season.
Mon, 09 Mar 2015 17:11:33 -0700
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) has agreed to terms with the Cleveland Browns. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline has a chance to be one of the starting wide receivers for the Browns next season. Hartline saw a big dip in his production this past season and finished with only 39 catches and 474 receiving yards. Hartline should not been seen as more than a No. 3 wide receiver on fantasy team next season and a later-round draft choice.
Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:41:46 -0800
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) is attracting interest from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline's 2015 fantasy value will depend on where he lands in free agency. The Chiefs are desperate for wide receivers after not having a single wideout touchdown in 2014. Hartline's production dropped significantly last year, as he had just 39 catches for 474 yards and two touchdowns after reaching 1,000 yards in the previous two seasons. Hartline would have a low fantasy ceiling in KC, and we wouldn't be attractive as anything more than a WR4, most likely.
Fri, 06 Mar 2015 04:42:13 -0800
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) has interest from the New England Patriots, but no meeting has been set up.
Fantasy Tip: Now this would be interesting, as the Patriots are perhaps Miami's most hated division rival. Hartline has interest from other suitors, and his future fantasy value will depend on what team takes a chance on him. He could project as a WR2 or WR3 in most leagues.
Thu, 05 Mar 2015 08:14:10 -0800
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) is visiting with the Houston Texans Thursday, March 5.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline would likely slot in as a WR4 in Houston with some upside depending on how the Andre Johnson situation plays out.
Wed, 04 Mar 2015 16:18:03 -0800
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) could return to the Miami Dolphins, as they remain interested in bringing him back. However, he's already had meetings with the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears, and he's expected to make a decision soon.
Fantasy Tip: It's hard to see the Dolphins retaining Hartline after cutting him, especially since he seems to be getting plenty of interest around the league. Hartline could be a decent WR4 for fantasy football owners, depending on where he lands.
Wed, 04 Mar 2015 06:03:20 -0800
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) will visit the Chicago Bears Wednesday, March 4. He could decide between the Bears and the Cleveland Browns within 24 hours.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline would have some WR4 appeal in Chicago, but he's mostly a WR5 flyer in PPR leagues.
Tue, 03 Mar 2015 05:46:37 -0800
Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) will visit the Cleveland Browns Tuesday, March 3.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline is at best a WR4 or WR5 flyer for PPR formats.
Fri, 27 Feb 2015 07:26:04 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline was released Friday, Feb. 27.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline followed two 1,000-yard seasons with a 39-474-2 stinker. Hartline can be a low-end PPR receiver if he lands in the right place. However, he has 298 career receptions and just 12 touchdowns.
Wed, 25 Feb 2015 12:39:58 -0800
Miami Dolphins WRs Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson could all be let go this offseason if contracts aren't restructured. Wallace, especially, likely won't take a paycut on the $9.85 million he's due next season. Hartline is due $5.9 million but could restructure this offseason. Gibson isn't believed to be worth the $3.225 million he's due, so he could also be gone.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline wasn't really more than a WR3 in point-per-reception leagues, and Gibson was too dependent on touchdowns. Wallace has WR2 potential, but has been too unhappy in Miami and even benched himself in the last game of the 2014 season. Keep tabs on this situation as the offseason progresses.
Tue, 24 Feb 2015 23:02:41 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline has not been informed of his status for 2015, but he has a current cap number of $7.3 million.
Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe the Dolphins would pay Hartline that kind of money when a cheaper, and similar, replacement can likely be had. Wherever he ends up in 2015, he is only worth using in deeper fantasy formats.
Tue, 27 Jan 2015 16:27:50 -0800
The Miami Dolphins will be able to clear $40 million in cap space in order to get under the projected $140-142 million cap for 2015. Either WR Mike Wallace or WR Brian Hartline will likely be named one of the two pre-June 1 cuts, the difference between cutting one or the other is $950,000. Hartline could also be asked to restructure his contract. LB Dannell Ellerbe's impending release will clear $8.45 million. Even if Wallace remains with the Dolphins for 2015, he'll likely be cut before the 2016 season when he's due $12.5 million in base salary and bonuses.
Sun, 11 Jan 2015 09:20:35 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline could be asked to take a pay cut this offseason, but the team likely will not be able to trade him. Hartline is scheduled to count $7.35 million against the salary cap next season.
Fri, 05 Dec 2014 13:40:44 -0800
Miami Dolphins WRs Mike Wallace (chest) and Brian Hartline (knee) were both limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, but are probable for Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($5,800) is a no-brainer start at FantasyScore this week against the Ravens, who allow the most average fantasy points to wideouts this season. Hartline ($3,000) has seen his role decrease because of the emergence of Jarvis Landry, but Hartline could be a deep sleeper this weekend.
Thu, 04 Dec 2014 13:35:33 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 4.
Fantasy Tip: While Hartline is cheap on FantasyScore at $3,000, he hasn't done much this year to warrant plugging into any lineup. It's probably best to look elsewhere at wide receiver, despite a favorable matchup.
Wed, 03 Dec 2014 15:49:16 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline has a great FantasyScore price at $3,000 this week, but there are probably better options available to you for just a bit more money.
Wed, 03 Dec 2014 09:15:37 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) is dealing with a bruised knee and hopes to play in Week 14.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should see what he is able to do during practice this week before deciding on their lineup. Hartline has not been much of a factor in the team's passing game for most of the season and only has one touchdown catch but will be facing a Baltimore Ravens defense that has struggled against opposing wide receivers this season. Hartline only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to consider using better options this week.
Mon, 01 Dec 2014 19:05:44 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) suffered a knee injury in the team's Week 13 game Monday, Dec. 1, and will not return.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline has already taken a backseat in Miami's passing attack, but if he is out for an extended period of time, up-and-coming rookie Jarvis Landry should become an even stronger fantasy option.
Tue, 11 Nov 2014 19:50:22 -0800
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline was targeted just once in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions, and he is on pace for just 76 targets this season, well below his 127 from last season. So far Hartline isn't complaining about the drop in targets. "Coaches can use me as they see fit," Hartline said Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline might not be complaining, but his seasonal fantasy owners aren't happy. And for FantasyScore, he should be avoided until he starts to show more consistency.
Fri, 17 Oct 2014 14:33:29 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline has become a forgotten man in the team's offense after back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He is currently fourth on the team in catches (16) and third in receiving yards (161), and he's on pace for his worst statistical season since 2011. The Dolphins have basically stopped throwing his way; he was targeted just twice in Week 6 and was without a catch for the first time in almost two years. Tannehill has had the most snaps of any receiver on the team in every game this year, but only once was he targeted more often than WR Mike Wallace.
"Sometimes teams commit, whether they play cloud, whether they double-cover, there are multiple different coverages. We are a progression-based passing game. Sometimes it's just the way the ball rolls and the snaps are thrown, it just hasn't been (there). He hasn't been targeted quite as much, but I'm sure he is going to have his days," head coach Joe Philbin said. WR Jarvis Landry has emerged as a legitimate receiving threat, too, and he had a team-high six-catches for 75 yards and a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers last week.
Fantasy Tip: Until Hartline is utilized more often in the offense, he won't be an intriguing pick for your FantasyScore lineups. He comes with a $4,300 (8.6% of cap) salary this weekend against the Chicago Bears.
Fri, 17 Oct 2014 14:21:04 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (finger) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as probable for Week 7 against the Chicago Bears.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline put up a fat zero last week against the Green Bay Packers. He hasn't been very involved in the passing game this year, and he has just one touchdown. Hartline ($4,300) is a cheaper option at FantasyScore, but he should be considered no more than a weak flex option.
Wed, 15 Oct 2014 11:58:26 -0700
Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill said he would like to get the ball to WR Brian Hartline more. "I think we have to get him the ball," Tannehill said.
Sun, 12 Oct 2014 15:05:42 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline had zero catches in the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers, and he was targeted just two times.
Fantasy Tip: It was a disappointing day for Hartline, especially in what appeared to be a very favorable matchup. Fantasy owners need not bother with Hartline going forward.
Mon, 22 Sep 2014 10:56:08 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (elbow) hurt his left elbow in the team's Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the second half and was attended to by trainers.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline had just three catches (seven targets) and 25 yards, but his stat line was saved by a touchdown grab. With the quarterback situation in Miami in flux heading into the contest in London against the Oakland Raiders, Hartline doesn't figure to be a safe play in Week 4.
Wed, 17 Sep 2014 15:24:00 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (back) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Fantasy Tip: The fact that he practiced fully in the first practice of the week is encouraging. We'd expect him to play against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hartline is a cheap option at FantasyScore ($5,300) and could return nice value against a weak defense.
Sun, 14 Sep 2014 09:09:33 -0700
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline has a matchup edge against CB Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore (groin), who is hindered by a groin injury Sunday, Sept. 14.
Fantasy Tip: Hartline is a solid WR2 or flex at a good price ($5,300; 10.6% of your cap) on FantasyScore this week.

Tue, 03 Dec 2013 20:38:32 -0800
The Miami Dolphins could face wintry weather in their Week 14 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Dec. 8. The forecast currently calls for a wintry mix with temperatures in the low 30's with an east wind around 10 mph. "Snow is probably last because it's really not as wet or causes as many problems," WR Brian Hartline said Tuesday, Dec. 3. "Wind can be a pain in the butt because ball location changes really quickly. Rain, it depends because if it's soaking wet, it's maybe not as bad because you can adjust."
Fantasy Tip: If the weather plays a factor, the team could move to a more ground-based attack on offense, which would limit the fantasy appeal of Mike Wallace, Hartline, Charles Clay and Ryan Tannehill, as well as Caleb Sturgis. It could be good news for Lamar Miller, who gobbled up 72 rushing yards in Week 13 in New York, his most yards since Week 9.
Thu, 07 Nov 2013 09:34:00 -0800
Miami Dolphins OL Jonathan Martin laughed about a voicemail at the center of the controversy with OT Richie Incognito, according to WR Brian Hartline. "This is the same guy that was laughing about this voice mail at one point in time, first of all," Hartline said of Martin. "Second of all, I believe that if you look through the whole voice mail, there's some things said that you probably shouldn't say in general, friends or not friends. But I know for a fact, that I've said things to my friends that I kind of wish I've never said to, either."
Wed, 06 Nov 2013 19:18:34 -0800
Updating a previous report, several Miami Dolphins players, including OT Tyson Clabo, WR Brian Hartline, DT John Jerry, DT Paul Soliai, DT Randy Starks and QB Ryan Tannehill came to the defense of embattled OG Richie Incognito Wednesday, Nov. 6. "We're just trying to help clear Richie's name," Starks said. "Whatever was said, I'm sure wasn't meant that way. (Incognito and OT Jonathan Martin) are good friends. Richie's a good teammate. Jon Martin was a good teammate. I just think everything's gotten blown out of proportion."

The Miami Dolphins have used an empty backfield setup with five players lined up as receivers, including WRs Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline, RB Lamar Miller, TE Dustin Keller and either WR Brandon Gibson or TE Charles Clay. The team even practiced with that grouping in goal line situations. "That surprised me and I'm on the team," Wallace said. "If we can do that, we'll keep catching teams off guard and get a lot of mismatches we want."
Thu, 08 Aug 2013 12:05:28 -0700
