Chiefs | Jamaal Charles practices in full

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 14:15:44 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (back) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Charles is on the injury report this week with a new injury, but he's practiced in full the last two days, so he should be perfectly fine for Week 9 against the New York Jets. The Jets have held their own against rushers this year, so Charles may find it tough to return value on his $7,400 (14.8% of cap) this weekend.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (head) will participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 23, and the team does not plan on adding him to their injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Charles took a big hit in Week 7 but appears to be on track to play in Week 8. Charles costs $7,400 on FantasyScore and is a solid starting option since he is used in the passing and running game.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles showed concussion symptoms

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 11:15:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (concussion) showed no signs of a concussion when he was checked after a helmet-to-helmet hit in Week 7, according to trainer Rick Burkholder. However, Charles said he was never checked, and he said after the game that the hit was no big deal. He changed his tune after the game: "It definitely hurt," Charles said. "A couple plays later, I just (saw) this light buzz around my eyes and I was trying to catch 'em. But I was like, 'Let's get the ball and run again.'" Charles had other concussion symptoms, as well, but didn't think he had a concussion. He was cleared from the concussion protocol Tuesday, Oct. 21, and was cleared to practice Wednesday, Oct. 22, but the team will continue to monitor him.

Fantasy Tip: It appears as though Charles has a very minor concussion, but it doesn't make him any less risky for Week 8 against the St. Louis Rams. Knile Davis ($3,100) and De'Anthony Thomas ($3,000) could be great FantasyScore bargains if Charles is limited or doesn't play at all.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles cleared to practice

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 10:41:28 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (concussion) was cleared to practice Wednesday, Oct. 22, but the team will continue to monitor him throughout the week.

Fantasy Tip: Concussions are serious business, making it no sure thing that Charles will be able to play in Week 8 against the St. Louis Rams. If he can't play, Knile Davis and De'Anthony Thomas will see big increases in workload. Consider Charles ($7,400; 14.8% of cap) is a dicey play at FantasyScore until we know more.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles finding room to run

Tue, 07 Oct 2014 18:56:53 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles has averaged more than five yards per carry in each of the past two games, and offensive line coach Doug Pederson said improved play from the offensive line has helped boost the rushing attack.

Fantasy Tip: The Chiefs have a bye in Week 6, but Charles should remain a strong option at FantasyScore when he returns to action.

Chiefs | Andy Reid regrets play-calling decisions

Tue, 07 Oct 2014 09:36:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles didn't touch the ball on any of the team's final 10 plays of their Week 5 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and head coach Andy Reid regrets his play-calling decisions down the stretch. The Chiefs failed to convert on a third and shirt early in the fourth quarter, electing to pass instead of run with Charles.

Fantasy Tip: Charles had 15 rushes for 80 yards but only one catch in the loss. Reid will have plenty of time to think about getting Charles more involved following the team's Week 6 bye. Expect Charles to see plenty of action in Week 7.

Chiefs | Coach talks Jamaal Charles' workload

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 12:04:22 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles received a limited amount of touches in Week 5, because the offense only ran 15 plays in the second half of the game, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Fantasy Tip: Charles ran the ball 15 times and caught one pass during the game. Charles should continue to be in starting lineups each week despite his limited workload in Week 5.

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 14:53:53 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 3, and is listed as probable for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Charles should be able to play this week despite the injury. Charles costs $7,600 on FantasyScore this week and could be a solid option since he can help out in the running and passing game.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles limited again

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 15:03:00 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Barring a setback, Charles should be able to play again this week following his three-touchdown performance against the New England Patriots in Week 4. He is priced at $7,600 on FantasyScore.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles limited in practice

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 14:52:19 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Charles was a nice surprise to his fantasy owners in his return in Week 4. He had a heavy workload, scored three times and looked healthy. However, against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5, Charles is set up to disappoint, especially at his FantasyScore price ($7,600; 15.2% of cap). Remember, Knile Davis should continue to be heavily involved.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles looking good

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 18:31:24 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) had a strong first half in Week 4 against the New England Patriots. At halftime, he has 10 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown, while also added one catch for five yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: Charles has not shown any ill-effects of his ankle injury. The carries have been split with Charles getting 10 rushes, and Knile Davis seeing five runs. If you're a fantasy owner of Charles, you have to like what you have seen through the first 30 minutes.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles active for MNF

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 16:52:07 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) is active for the Week 4 game against the New England Patriots Monday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: It is uncertain if Charles will be limited in any way, but the way Knile Davis filled in last week in Miami, the team can certainly hold him back and not lose much when Davis is on the field.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles probable

Sat, 27 Sep 2014 14:10:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 4. He was limited in practice again Saturday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Charles ($8,300; 16.6% of your cap) carries a bit of risk, but he's usually worth the investment. Knile Davis ($7,700; 15.4%) is a player to avoid on FantasyScore this week.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles limited again

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 14:48:51 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) was limited for the second straight day in practice Friday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Charles will likely be questionable for Monday night against the Patriots, but it looks like he has a much better chance of playing than he did last week. If he plays, though, we expect a good amount of sharing in the backfield between him and Knile Davis. At $8,300 (16.6% of cap), Charles is a big risk at FantasyScore.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles limited

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 15:12:48 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Charles is still expected to play this week and has a relatively favorable matchup with the New England Patriots. It still remains to be seen how Knile Davis will be mixed in, but that could limit Charles' production.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles likely will play

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 10:39:41 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) likely will be able to play in Week 4, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Fantasy Tip: Charles missed last week because of the injury, but looks like he will be on the field for Week 4. Charles costs $8,300 on FantasyScore this week but could be a risky option to use since he could still be limited by the injury.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles increasing reps

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 07:43:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) will have his role expanded in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Charles ($8,300; 16.6% of your cap) seems to have a good chance to play this week. However, he would need to play something resembling a full load to justify his price tag on FantasyScore. The same can be said for Knile Davis ($7,700; 15.4%), who is a good play if Charles sits. However, if Charles returns and they share the load, both of them could be risky plays.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles to return to practice

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 15:05:37 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) will "most likely" return to practice this week after sitting out in Week 3, according to head coach Andy Reid. Kansas City has an extra day off this week while preparing for their Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots Monday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: You'll have to play this one by ear and follow Charles' status throughout the week. With KC's game on Monday night, it might not be smart to risk plugging Charles into your weekly lineups until we know further or unless you also own Knile Davis.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles not expected to go

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 06:37:41 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) is not expecting to play Sunday, Sept. 21, but he will test his ankle on in pre-game warm-ups. RB Knile Davis would be the starter if Charles doesn't suit up.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($5,700; 11.4% of your cap) is a solid RB2 on FantasyScore this week if Charles doesn't play.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles could play

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 06:28:42 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) has a real chance to play Sunday, Sept. 21, and will be a game-time decision. Charles has more of a bruise than a high ankle sprain.

Fantasy Tip: Charles ($8,400; 16.8% of your cap) could be a little too pricey on FantasyScore to consider this week. Knile Davis ($5,700; 11.4%) is a great play this week if Charles doesn't go.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles splits reps

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 21:23:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RBs Jamaal Charles (ankle) and Knile Davis split first-team reps in practice Friday, Sept. 19. Davis was the running back for the first snap of practice, and then Charles took the next two snaps. Officially, Charles was listed as a limited participant. He spent time running some light pass patterns and caugh passes with the rest of the team's receivers and backs.

Fantasy Tip: Charles is still a bit of a question mark, and FantasyScore owners might not want to commit $8400 (or 16.8 percent of salary cap space) on a player who might see limited reps, or potentially no reps at all. In fact, Davis might be the better play at $5700 (or 11.4 percent of salary cap space). Watch the situation closely before finalizing your lineup.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles' status in question

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:41:21 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Charles could be a game-time decision, so owners will need to check the inactive lists before deciding on their lineups. He should be considered a very risky play, because he could be limited by the injury if he is active. Charles costs $8,400 on FantasyScore this week, and owners could consider using their money on healthier options.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles looking good

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 13:36:20 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle), who is dealing with a high ankle sprain, was looking good in practice Friday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Charles appears to have healed nicely from his ankle sprain in Week 2, and he could play in limited action in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins. Putting him into your lineup at FantasyScore, though, is a risk you shouldn't take.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles practicing again

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 11:17:26 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) was practicing with the team for the second straight day Friday, Sept. 19, after missing practice Wednesday, Sept. 17, with a high ankle sprain. Charles' official status on the injury report has not been released yet. Charles ran light patterns and caught passes with the receivers and running backs after warming up Friday. RB Knile Davis took the first snap of practice with the starting offense, but Charles took the next two snaps.

Fantasy Tip: This is a tricky situation. Charles will likely be listed as questionable, and he could be a game-time decision. It's a huge risk at FantasyScore for $8,400, especially with the Chiefs playing the Miami Dolphins in the afternoon. Davis ($5,700) becomes a risk, too.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles takes part in warm-ups

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:09:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) took part in the early portion of practice open to the media Thursday, Sept. 18, and his availability in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins is unknown. He went through warm-ups and was then tended to by a trainer before joining the running back drills. Charles did a drill that involved cutting through cones to catch a pass, and he didn't appear to have any problems.

Fantasy Tip: Whether Charles returns this week will depend on his pain tolerance and how much swelling is in his ankle. We wouldn't advise adding Charles to your daily game lineups this weekend. Knile Davis ($5,700 at FantasyScore) is a wise investment against the Miami Dolphins.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles practicing

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 11:50:29 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) is participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: While Charles being on the practice field today is a good sign for Sunday, his FantasyScore price of $8,400 (16.80% of cap) is likely more than you should spend on a player who suffered a high-ankle sprain a week ago. Look elsewhere in Week 3.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles will not practice

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 09:51:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Charles' status for Week 3 is not known at this point, so owners should continue to monitor his practice participation during the week. Knile Davis would be a solid option for starting lineups this week if Charles misses the game. Davis costs $5,700 on FantasyScore this week.

Tue, 16 Sep 2014 06:24:45 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles' (ankle) high ankle sprain does not appear to be severe, according to head coach Andy Reid. His status is unknown.

Fantasy Tip: High ankle sprains generally cost players multiple weeks. Charles ($8,400; 16.8% of your cap) should be avoided on FantasyScore this week even if he plays. Knile Davis is expected to take over in Charles' role and makes a great RB3 ($5,700; 11.4%) this week.

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in the Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos, head coach Andy Reid said Sunday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: With Charles sidelined, Knile Davis shined with 22 carries for 79 yards and two scores. Davis is a must-add if you're a fantasy owners in weekly leagues, and he could be a great addition in FantasyScore in Week 3 if Charles is sidelined.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (foot) left the Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos in the first quarter due to an apparent left foot injury. He is on the sidelines on the training table getting attention.

Fantasy Tip: Charles had a foot issue in the preseason, and it's possible he aggravated the injury here. We'll keep you abreast of the situation. Knile Davis will see added reps if Charles is unable to return, and might be a nice FantasyScore pick in Week 3 if Charles' injury is serious.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles underused

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 19:10:21 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles received just 11 touches in Week 1, rushing seven times for 19 yards and catching four passes for 15 yards. Head coach Andy Reid took the blame for Charles' lack of involvement in the offense. "Not giving 25 the ball more than seven times is negligence on my part," Reid said Monday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: After an ugly loss to Tennessee in Week 1, itís a pretty safe bet that Reid will make sure Charles receives plenty of touches against Denver in Week 2. Coming off a bad performance and facing a tough opponent, Charles' $7,100 salary (14.2% of cap) ranks just ninth among backs in FantasyScore. He averaged 4.9 yards per carry in two games against the Broncos last year so consider taking advantage of his slightly depressed salary this weekend.
