Falcons | Matt Ryan to give a discount?

Fri, 02 Feb 2018 19:52:20 -0800

Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank expects QB Matt Ryan to take a hometown discount when the two sides work on a contract extension. "We expect him to work with us to ensure there's talent around him," Blank said.

Fantasy Tip: Expect the Falcons to do what it takes to keep Ryan around. Although his numbers slipped from his 2016 MVP campaign this season, he remains a perennial QB1 candidate.

Falcons | Atlanta focused on Matt Ryan extension

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 10:52:56 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan's potential contract extension will be the focus of the offseason, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan's 2018 numbers paled in comparison to his 2017 MVP campaign, but he was bound to regress after a career year. The veteran signal-caller has thrown over 4,000 yards in seven straight seasons now and is a threat for QB1 status each year.

Falcons | Matt Ryan throws for 210 yards

Sat, 13 Jan 2018 15:59:51 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 22-for-36 for 210 yards and one touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan played well this season but was held to one or fewer touchdown passes in each of his last eight games. He should have most of his weapons back next season and can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback or a solid backup in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Matt Ryan full go Thursday

Thu, 11 Jan 2018 11:00:15 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (non-injury related) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 11, and is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan is good to go for the divisional playoff matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. He'll need to be at his best in a hostile playoff environment versus an elite defense, but he is a cheaper DFS play on DraftKings.

Falcons | Matt Ryan on a roll in playoff games

Wed, 10 Jan 2018 20:47:21 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has completed at least 70 percent of his passes in five straight postseason contests after his performance in the team's Wild Card Round victory Saturday, Jan. 6. Only retired QB Troy Aikman has had a longer such streak in the Super Bowl era.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan had one of the all-time great postseason runs a year ago, and Matty Ice apparently hasn't cooled off since after his excellent outing last week in Los Angeles. He's also thrown just one interception compared to a whopping 13 touchdowns over this five-game stretch as well. Ryan is one of the safer bets to deploy at QB this weekend in DFS formats, but owners also shouldn't be surprised if the Falcons get extra reliant on their running game in Philadelphia.

Falcons | Matt Ryan takes part in practice

Wed, 10 Jan 2018 14:26:23 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (non-injury) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan has been playing well over the last month but has gone eight weeks without throwing at least two touchdowns in a game. He will be facing a solid Philadelphia Eagles defense and can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Falcons | No practice for Matt Ryan

Tue, 09 Jan 2018 13:39:29 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (personal) was absent from practice Tuesday, Jan. 9. He was at the team facility for parts of the day, however.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan will play as long as his personal situation isn't anything too drastic or serious. It's hard to believe he'd miss such a crucial game, especially if he was able to be at the team facility. Coming off a down year, Ryan can be viewed as a high-mid range QB2 heading into 2018.

Falcons | Mediocre line for Matt Ryan

Sat, 06 Jan 2018 20:52:45 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 21 of his 30 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan didn't post big numbers, but he was efficient as he led the Falcons to the playoff win. If you play fantasy during the postseason, expect some bigger numbers next week when he faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense that struggled down the stretch.

Falcons | Matt Ryan historically good in postseason

Thu, 04 Jan 2018 15:43:29 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has the third-highest quarterback rating (minimum 150 pass attempts) in NFL history with a 102.4 mark, registering behind only retired QBs Bart Starr (104.8) and Kurt Warner (102.8).

Fantasy Tip: When it comes to playoff games, there's no question that the 10-year veteran lives up to his "Matty Ice" moniker despite a 3-5 record in his postseason career. In those eight contests, Ryan has completed 194-of-285 passes (68.1 percent) for 2,244 yards, to go with 18 touchdowns compared to only seven interceptions. He'll be one of the top QB1 options to roll with from the Wild Card weekend slate.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 28-of-45 passes for 317 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers. RBs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman underwhelmed on the ground, as both players had 11 runs for 23 yards each. Freeman led the team in receiving, though, posting 85 yards and a touchdown on nine receptions.
