Ravens | Baltimore wants Justin Forsett back

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 13:19:52 -0800

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent RB Justin Forsett is a priority for the team to re-sign this offseason, according to general manager Ozzie Newsome.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett's current fantasy football value is very murky, at best, after a career year in 2014 with Baltimore. There's very little chance that he will repeat that performance in 2015, even if he stays with the Ravens. If he lands in a nice situation in free agency, he'd be an RB 2, at best, in PPR leagues.

Falcons | Justin Forsett interests Atlanta

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 08:28:04 -0800

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent RB Justin Forsett is of high interest to the Atlanta Falcons if he reaches free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett would land in a committee role with Devonta Freeman, and this would likely be a step back from his elite fantasy status last season. Forsett turns 30 in November, and there are plenty of questions about whether he can sustain last season's RB1 output. He'll likely be a low-end RB1 in most drafts.

Ravens | Justin Forsett hopes to return to BAL

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 21:38:57 -0800

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent RB Justin Forsett said Wednesday, Feb. 11, that he would "love to stay in Baltimore." However, he might be one of the top free agents on the market in the spring.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett could return to Baltimore, or he could end up elsewhere. Either way he is likely to have a big workload in 2015, and that's good news for potential fantasy owners.

Lions | Justin Forsett might be option for Lions

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 21:36:53 -0800

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent RB Justin Forsett might be an option for the Detroit Lions. Detroit head coach Jim Caldwell pointed to the running game as an area that needs improving in 2015, and Caldwell and general manager Martin Mayhew have been non-committal on whether Reggie Bush will be back.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett has bounced around the league in his career, but he might have parlayed his big 2014 season in Baltimore into a solid payday. Wherever he lands, it appears he will be in line for a decent amount of work which is good news for fantasy owners.

Ravens | Justin Forsett hopes for long-term deal

Mon, 12 Jan 2015 12:38:39 -0800

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent RB Justin Forsett said he would like to sign a multi-year deal if he returns to the Ravens this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett likely would be the team's starting running back if he re-signs with the Ravens next offseason, but he may have share carries with the other running backs on the roster. Forsett probably could be considered as a No. 2 running back in fantasy drafts next season if he has a starting job.

Ravens | Justin Forsett wants to stay with Ravens

Mon, 12 Jan 2015 10:47:16 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett, who is set to become a free agent in April, said he would like to stay with the team following his breakout season. "This is an organization that first gave me my shot, my first real opportunity," Forsett said. "I would love to stay." He finished the year with 235 rushes for 1,266 yards, which was fifth best in the league. Forsett is in line to earn his first big paycheck of his career this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: It'll be hard for Forsett to improve upon his numbers next season, even if he stays with the Ravens. However, if he remains in a lead-back role next year, he should be a decent RB2 with more value in point-per-reception formats.

Ravens | Justin Forsett solid in loss

Sat, 10 Jan 2015 17:39:10 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett had 24 carries for 129 yards in a 35-31 loss to the New England Patriots in the divisional-round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett capped a solid season that saw him finish fifth in the NFL in rushing and lead all running backs in yards per carry. After spending most of his career as a backup, Forsett shined as the lead back for the Ravens.

Ravens | Justin Forsett caps off fine season

Sun, 28 Dec 2014 15:48:08 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett finished his breakout season with a 17-carry, 119-yard effort versus the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. He totaled 252 carries for 1,385 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground, plus 46 receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett had a strong year and helped many fantasy owners go the distance. With Baltimore in the playoffs, FantasyScore users can rely on him at least one more time before the season is over.

Ravens | Fitzgerald Toussaint was backup

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 11:14:35 -0800

Baltimore Ravens rookie RB Fitzgerald Toussaint served as the backup to RB Justin Forsett in the team's Week 17 loss to the Houston Texans over RB Bernard Pierce. Toussaint relieved Forsett in the fourth quarter when he injured his ankle and ran four times for 11 yards and also caught two passes for 20 yards on five targets. Pass protection may be the reason why Pierce was overlooked.

Fantasy Tip: Depending on the health status of Forsett, Toussaint could see more work in the season finale against the Cleveland Browns. The matchup is a good one, unfortunately, Toussaint ($5,555) isn't worth much more than a desperation flex play because of his lack of experience.

Ravens | Justin Forsett wearing down

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 06:58:54 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) insists his ankle is fine, despite his decline in production the last two weeks. He has 68 yards in the last two games combined, and it's possible the 218 carries have caught up to him. He has carried the ball 100 times more than he has in any of his previous six seasons.

Fantasy Tip: The team is likely to get Bernard Pierce more involved in Week 17 to spell Forsett. Pierce has just 10 carries in three weeks, so he's nothing more than a speculative flex play. Forsett is a high-end RB2 on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Justin Forsett practicing

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 11:20:49 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) is participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Forsett is on track to play in Week 15, but owners should watch to see if he suffers any setbacks. Forsett will be facing a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that has struggled against running backs over the past four games. Forsett is an attractive option on FantasyScore at $6,800.

Ravens | Justin Forsett will play

Sun, 07 Dec 2014 09:08:12 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) is active for the team's Week 14 game.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett should receive a majority of the carries this week but will be facing a tough Miami Dolphins defense. Forsett has rushed for at least 100 yards in his last three games and could be an attractive option on FantasyScore if owners are willing to spend $6,800 on him.

Sun, 07 Dec 2014 04:21:34 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) will play in Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins, according to a team source.

Fantasy Tip: Go ahead and activate Forsett and his $6,800 FantasyScore salary for your roster, as Forsett should see a favorable amount of action barring further injury.

Ravens | Justin Forsett questionable for Week 14

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 13:16:19 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. Forsett was downplaying his knee injury as "regular soreness" earlier this week.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Forsett ($6,800) should be able to play against the Dolphins, but make sure to check back Sunday morning to see if he's active. If he's playing, it's hard to go away from him in PPR leagues such as FantasyScore. Bernard Pierce ($3,000) should only be considered if Forsett is inactive.

Ravens | Two Ravens skill players to practice

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 10:20:03 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) and WR Torrey Smith (knee) both were expected to practice on Friday, Dec. 5, all along, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: It is a good sign that both Forsett and Smith are practicing Friday, and both should be good to go for Week 14. Forsett (6,800) is a good option in FantasyScore this week if he is good to go. Smith ($5,800) is a bit of a risky start in FantasyScore as the Dolphins have had one of the better fantasy defenses against the pass.

Ravens | No practice for Justin Forsett

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 13:38:41 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett's knee injury isn't supposed to be serious, but a second straight day of no practice has to have you worried. The Miami Dolphins have been vulnerable on the ground of late, so if Forsett is good to go, spending $6,800 on him is justified. If he doesn't go, Bernard Pierce ($3,000) may deserve a flier as a weak flex option at FantasyScore.

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 10:56:08 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) appeared for a short time at practice Thursday, Dec. 4, before going back inside.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett's status for Week 14 is uncertain at this point, so owners should continue to monitor the situation. Forsett costs $6,800 on FantasyScore, which may be too expensive for some owners worried about his injury status.

Ravens | Justin Forsett to have full workload

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 06:08:10 -0800

Updating previous reports, Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) will start and have his usual workload in Week 14 after suffering a minor knee injury last week.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($6,800; 13.6% of your cap) doesn't have a great matchup against the Miami Dolphins this week, but he remains a high-end RB2 on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Justin Forsett misses practice

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 14:51:54 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee), who has been dealing with a sprained ankle in recent weeks, did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Forsett's status the rest of the week, but as of now, we expect him to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14. Despite a strong defensive front, the Dolphins have been vulnerable of late to running backs, so Forsett should continue to be a solid play at FantasyScore for $6,800 if he's healthy.

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett ran for 182 yards and two scores in a 34-27 victory over the New Orleans Saints Monday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett has left little doubt that he is the main option in Baltimore's backfield. Whenever the Ravens have a solid matchup, Forsett is worth considering at FantasyScore.

Ravens | Justin Forsett having dream season

Mon, 10 Nov 2014 10:16:45 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett set career highs in the team's Week 10 win over the Tennessee Titans, rushing 20 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Forsett now has a career-high five touchdown runs this year, and he also has single-season bests for carries (133) and rushing yards (721) on the season. Forsett played for offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak in Houston, and his style of slashing with a quick burst fits the Ravens system perfectly. Forsett entered Week 10 leading all running backs with 5.39 yards per carry, and he ranked fifth in rushing yards. "He's the kind of guy that deserves it," head coach John Harbaugh said. "When you watch him on tape, he has always been a playmaker, and now he's getting an opportunity to prove that. He's doing a great job with it."

Fantasy Tip: Forsett has been gold for fantasy owners this year, especially in point-per-reception leagues like FantasyScore. He'll be on bye in Week 11, though, so you'll have to find a replacement.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch for an update later in the day to find out the injury. Forsett will continue to share work with Lorenzo Taliaferro and Bernard Pierce if he is able to play in Week 9. Owners would have to spend $6,200 on Forsett at FantasyScore this week.

Ravens | Will continue to mix RBs

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 06:45:00 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has thrust himself into the lead running back role for the team. He is fourth in the NFL with 408 rushing yards and leads the league with 6.4 yards per carry. The team still wants to use RB Bernard Pierce as an important part of their running game.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($5,800; 11.6% of your cap) continues to be a solid play on FantasyScore. However, it's concerning that the team hasn't fully committed to him like many teams would with another back performing this well. Pierce ($5,200; 10.4%) is a flex option, but he comes with risk.

Ravens | Justin Forsett succeeding on the ground

Sat, 04 Oct 2014 12:17:20 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is averaging 5.7 yards per carry this season. Known more as a receiving threat, Forsett has also scored twice on the ground, while adding 16 catches for 63 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Even with Lorenzo Taliaferro now in the mix, Forsett should continue to see his fair share of touches out of the backfield. His price on FantasyScore this week is a modest $4,900.

Ravens | Justin Forsett earning his keep

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 07:32:02 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has done everything he can to own the starting running back job, in the opinion of beat writer Jamison Hensley. "He's making yards after the hit on his own," head coach John Harbaugh said. "That's kind of how you measure a back."

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens' backfield is a muddy situation, but Forsett is the most valuable in PPR leagues on FantasyScore. Lorenzo Taliaferro has been productive running the ball, but one has to believe that Bernard Pierce (thigh) will have a chance to be involved once he's 100 percent. Taliaferro and Pierce are just depth backs in fantasy right now, but both are flex options.

Ravens | Two RBs split carries in win

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 18:36:42 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RBs Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro nearly split the carries in half in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers with RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) held out as a precaution. Forsett carried 14 times for 66 yards and a touchdown, while the rookie Taliaferro had 15 carries for 58 yards and a score. Forsett also added three grabs for 31 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners of Forsett and Taliaferro had a reprieve this weekend, as it appeared all week Pierce would be ready to go, creating a three-headed monster in the backfield. All three are likely to see carries in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Ravens | Ravens RB situation muddled

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 17:07:59 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RBs Bernard Pierce, Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro have each led the team in rushing in a game this season. The Ravens are the only team to have a back with at least 90 rushing yards, giving them the eighth-ranked rushing attack despite having no one in the Top 12 among leading individual rushers. The backs each say they are uncertain who will get the ball in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers, and offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak only indicated Friday, Sept. 26, that all three will play. "They're all going to play," Kubiak said. "We're going to keep a fresh guy on the field - that's what we're going to go - and if we feel like one guy has the hot hand, so to speak, then obviously he's going to go back out. I want them all to prepare as if they're starting."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners cannot stand a running back situation like this, as one week a guy might be super productive only to disappear the following week. While Pierce is expected to start, Forsett could be the best fantasy option. He has at least 70 yards in each of his three games. Taliaferro might be the back near the goal line, so he has some appeal, too, if the price is right. Pierce, despite his starting status, might be the most risky since he is coming back from injury and has two hungry backs behind him.

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 08:28:00 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) is inactive Sunday, Sept. 21, for the Week 3 game. RB Justin Forsett will start.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($4,700; 9.4% of your cap) is a great, cost-efficient flex play on FantasyScore. There is rain in the forecast in Cleveland, and he could be utilized heavily.

Updating an earlier report, Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) has a 5 percent chance to play Sunday, Sept. 21, according to a team source. RB Justin Forsett is likely to start.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($4,700; 9.4% of your cap) is a great play on FantasyScore if Pierce doesn't play. There is rain in the forecast in Cleveland, and he could be utilized heavily. He could be a PPR diamond in the rough this week.

Ravens | Bernard Pierce should run most

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 07:49:27 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce figures to be the running back with the most carries at the end of the season, in the opinion of beat writer Jamison Hensley.

Fantasy Tip: Pierce ($6,100; 12.2% of your cap) is a risky RB2 on FantasyScore for Week 2. Justin Forsett ($4,700; 9.4%) is a better value as a flex option in the short term.

Ravens | Ravens RBs to see a lot of work

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 11:29:31 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RBs Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett will "both play a lot" in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, Sept. 11, and RB Lorenzo Taliaferro "will be a big part of it, too," according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh said Pierce is fine health-wise, but he was benched in Week 1 after fumbling. Forsett has the trust of offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak after the two worked together with the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett should be atop most waiver wire target boards following Week 1 and the release of Ray Rice. However, despite his familiarity with Kubiak's system, it could be a committee approach moving forward, and Pierce could eventually become the lead back. Forsett will cost you $4,700 (9.4% of cap) compared to $6,100 (12.2% of cap) for Pierce. Forsett makes more sense this week as a flex option.

NFL | Ray Rice video news to league

Mon, 08 Sep 2014 07:59:06 -0700

The NFL didn't see Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice strike his now wife, Janay Rice, in video footage before suspending him for two games, according to NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy. "We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator," McCarthy said. "That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today."

Fantasy Tip: Rice could face further disciplinary action, and his Week 3 return could be in jeopardy. Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett are weak RB3s or flex options.

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice's domestic violence case could be re-opened by the NFL. Video footage of Rice reportedly striking his now wife, Janay Rice, in a casino elevator was released to the public. The league could render further disciplinary action.

Fantasy Tip: Rice is eligible to play in Week 3, but might be subject to missing more time. Bernard Pierce was benched in Week 1, and Justin Forsett's stock continues to rise. Forsett could be a bargain buy on FantasyScore as a flex option in Week 2 against Pittsburgh.

Ravens | Justin Forsett prepared for opportunity

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 16:08:02 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett will be ready for his opportunity if/when RB Ray Rice is suspended. Forsett said he has to be prepared and wants to prove himself when his number is called.

Fantasy Tip: While Ray Rice is likely facing a suspension, RBs Bernard Pierce and Lorenzo Taliaferro are probably next in line for playing time. Forsett may serve more of a change-of-pace role and isn't worth drafting unless the Rice suspension is for an extended period of time.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Ravens | Pending Ray Rice suspension may force RBBC

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 10:58:12 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice's pending suspension may cause the Ravens to take a running back-by-committee approach. RB Bernard Pierce would be the likely front runner, with RBs Justin Forsett , Lorenzo Taliaferro, Cierre Wood and Fitzgerald Toussaint in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to gauge these players' values because we don't know how long Rice will be suspended, if he is suspended. Assuming Rice does receive a three- or four-game suspension, Pierce would fall in high-end RB3 to low-end RB2 range for that period of time, while Rice's season-long value would take a big blow and spiral him into RB3 or flex territory.
