NFL | Chris Johnson ready to play again

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 13:12:17 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) said he's feeling explosive, healthy and is ready to play again.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys several times this offseason. He could very well draw interest from other teams, but nothing is imminent as of now. Stay tuned to Johnson's status throughout the training camp period.

NFL | Chris Johnson expects to receive interest

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 14:35:17 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) said he expects to receive interest from teams once training camp begins. Johnson said he has been working out this season in preparation for the 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson could be an option if a team loses a running back to an injury during camp. Johnson likely will not have a lot of value if he signs with a team since he probably will be a backup. Johnson could be a waiver wire option if he finds a solid role with a team.

NFL | Chris Johnson has bulked up

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 12:44:41 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) said he's worked his way up to 200 pounds, which is right where he wants to be. Johnson had lost 20 pounds this offseason due to bed rest following a drive-by shooting he was injured in.

Cowboys | Chris Johnson could sign with Dallas

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 12:39:24 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) might sign with the Dallas Cowboys either during training camp or the regular season, in the opinion of Jason La Canfora of cbssports.com.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson said a couple months ago that he would like to play for the Cowboys. Johnson obviously wouldn't be guaranteed to start with Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar also competing for touches. McFadden is infamous for his fragility, so Johnson could be a replacement for if/when McFadden is injured.

Cowboys | Chris Johnson wants to go to DAL

Tue, 05 May 2015 18:11:33 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson was recently stopped outside a Los Angeles restaurant by TMZ and was asked about the possibility of playing for the Dallas Cowboys. "I'd fit good in Dallas," Johnson said when asked if the Cowboys were a good option. "They need it. Yeah. That's what we're trying to do."

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how much better Johnson would be than the combination of Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar at this point in his career, but he'd certainly be the highest profile member of the backfield if he does go to Dallas. Johnson did run for 663 yards on 4.3 yards per attempt last season, and could still have something to offer the right team. With the No. 1 offensive line in football, the Cowboys could very well be that team.

NFL | Chris Johnson working out

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 16:46:56 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (shoulder) has been working out even though he was shot in the shoulder during a drive by shooting last month. Johnson has received interest from several teams.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has not signed with a team at this point and may have wait until after the draft to find a new team. Johnson likely will be a backup next season and may not be worth a drafting in leagues next season.

NFL | Chris Johnson won't face charges

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 12:31:12 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) will not face charges after being arrested on a misdemeanor weapons charge. Angela Starke, a spokeswoman for the state attorney's office in Orlando, said "the evidence was not suitable for prosecution." Johnson was also shot in the right shoulder in a separate incident during a drive-by shooting in Orlando earlier this month.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson continued to be a disappointment with the New York Jets last year sharing time with Chris Ivory in the backfield. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry on 155 attempts for 663 yards and just one touchdown. It was the first time in his career he failed to reach 1,000 yards rushing. His offseason off-the-field exploits won't endear him to many NFL teams, either. Johnson may be a late-round flier for running back depth in really deep leagues in 2015, but nothing more.

NFL | Chris Johnson released from hospital

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 11:13:36 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) was released from the hospital Monday, March 9, according to a source. Johnson was shot in the arm and is now at home resting. He did not have surgery.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Johnson will be good to go for offseason activities, although he still needs to find a team. If/when he does find that team, he will probably have no more than a complementary role and would probably be a flex option.

NFL | Chris Johnson injured in shooting

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 10:12:14 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (shoulder) was shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting in Orlando Sunday, March 8. Johnson was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson likely will need time to recover from his injury, so he probably will sign with a team later in the offseason. Johnson likely will not find a starting job but could find a solid backup job with a team. He could be an option in the later rounds of drafts depending on his role with his new team.

Jets | Chris Johnson expected bigger role

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 15:24:54 -0800

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) said he expected to have a bigger role with the New York Jets this past season but saw his playing time decrease as the season went on. Johnson said he sat down with former head coach Rex Ryan to talk about his role with the team but was never given the chance to show his talent.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson likely will join a team as a backup this offseason and see limited touches next season. Johnson could be an option in the final few rounds of fantasy drafts depending on which team he joins but will not be a weekly starting option.
